"This will definitely fetch a good price," Gu Jin said, handing the core to Lu Siyao, who carefully stored it in her pack.

Liang Bao examined the beast’s charred skin. "There are still so usable sections here. We can get these processed and make so high-quality shields."

The trio worked together, cutting away the remaining usable skin and storing it safely.

"Oh right! Its wings can be used too!" Liang Bao said.

"Good call, Bao’er," Gu Jin said, admiring the wings. "These will definitely add a lot of value to the loot."

The trio carefully detached the wings from the beast’s body, ensuring they didn’t damage them further.

They worked together to cut and pack the wings, adding them to their collection of loot.

"With the core, the skin, and the wings, we’ll have quite a haul," Lu Siyao said, her eyes gleaming with excitent.

"Okay! Now that we have partially recovered we can continue." Gu Jin said.

As if rembering sothing, Gu Jin asked Liang Bao,

"Right! You were going to say sothing about the Mythical tree, right?"

"Oh right! So as I was saying..." Liang Bao again couldn’t continue her words because the next second, so arrows flew in their direction.

Whoosh.

Whoosh.

Whoosh.

"Hide behind the tree ." Gu Jin commanded.

Liang Bao, Lu Siyao, and Gu Jin reacted quickly and walked behind the tree to hide themselves, but they got hurt.

Gu Jin’s right elbow was scrapped, Lu Siyao’s neck was slashed and Liang Bao’s leg was grazed by the arrow too.

"Damn it! Who are they?" Lu Siyao asked.

"From their attire, they look like so high-rank hunters." Liang Bao had the chance to take a look at the attackers.

"High-rank hunters? Then why are they attacking us?" Lu Siyao asked with confusion.

"Because we want the loot that you obtained from Drakomagnus." A sinister voice said.

Followed by the voice a shadow covered them.

Lu Siyao, Liang Bao, and Gu Jin stared up and saw a young man with white wings.

The young man with white wings hovered above them, his eyes cold and calculating.

He wore a dark, high-rank hunter’s uniform adorned with various dals.

His eyes were dark brown, his skin was a bit tanned, and looked muscular. He had bread and his hair was short and set.

Overall he was a good-looking guy.

However whenever he opened his mouth, it totally ruined his handsoness.

"Hand over everything you collected from the Drakomagnus, and maybe I’ll let you walk away," he said, his voice dripping with arrogance.

"Damn it! Can you even call yourself a man? From your attire, you look like so high-ranking hunter, so why are you fighting against small hunters like us?" Lu Siyao cursed.

The winged man smirked, unfazed by Lu Siyao’s words.

"Small hunters? Perhaps, but you’ve stumbled upon sothing valuable, and in this forest, power and rank an nothing compared to profit."

Gu Jin, keeping her eyes on the man, whispered to her friends,

"Stay calm. We need a plan."

The winged man flapped his wings slightly, causing a gust of wind to blow through the trees.

"Enough talk. Hand over the loot, or face the consequences."

They were injured, outnumbered, and at a disadvantage, but she knew they couldn’t just give up their hard-earned loot without a fight.

"Why don’t you co down here and take it yourself?" Gu Jin proposed.

The winged man smirked, clearly amused by her soft tone,

"Very well," he said, descending slowly to the ground.

Gu Jin glanced at Liang Bao and Lu Siyao, signaling them to be ready. They nodded, understanding the unspoken plan.

As the man landed, Gu Jin activated her mana,

"Plant Vines-"

However midway through her words, the winged young man said,

"Did you think I would fall for your trap?"

Saying so the young man waved his hand and chanted his spell,

"Earth Bind!"

Thick roots burst from the ground, wrapping around Gu Jin, Lu Siyao, and Liang Bao’s legs, immobilizing them.

The winged man smirked, confident in his control over the situation.

Gu Jin struggled against the roots.

Suddenly she stopped, rembering how Draokmagnus too was trapped in the prison and was still able to attack.

As long as she can focus, she counterattacks.

Gu Jin closed her eyes.

"How boring...now are you going to act like a dead person? I thought you would continue to fight." The young man said his brown eyes gleaming with malice.

Gu Jin opened her eyes.

Concentrating her energy, she silently cast a spell,

"Fla Tendrils."

Fla Tendrils was an interdiate-rank spell.

Fiery tendrils erupted from the ground, wrapping around the winged man. He was taken aback, montarily losing his focus.

"My...my how amusing." The young man said with amusent and easily broke free from the tendrils.

Liang Bao’s eyes widened and she asked,

"You are a super rank mage, right?"

The young man tilted his head and walked up to Liang Bao.

"Don’t you f*cking dare to touch her." Gu Jin’s eyes were about to spit fire.

The young man chuckled,

"Earlier I didn’t have any plan to but..." He turned towards Liang Bao and said in a sinister tone,

"She needs to die. She use her brain too much. Haven’t you seen movies where the person who knows the most, dies the first?"

Liang Bao, despite her fear, concentrated her psychic energy, hoping to find a weakness in their opponent.

She sent out a ntal probe, attempting to disrupt his thoughts.

The winged man winced but quickly shook off the effect.

"Nice try," he sneered, "but it will take more than that to stop ."

"Aren’t you a hunter of so reputable organization? Why are you retorting to this thod?" Liang Bao questioned as she struggled against the bind.

The young man narrowed his eyes and warned,

"You know too much."

Liang Bao’s eyes blazed with fury and she said,

"Are you of those top 1% group? Do you want to kill all of us just because our talent is much better than you?"

Top 1%?

Gu Jin felt that there was sothing strange about Lu Siyao’s words.

What top 1%?

And what does she an by killing us just because their talent was much better than theirs?

Does Liang Bao an that there is a group nad 1% who kills the top talents?

But why?

The young man clenched his teeth,

"You! Shut up!"

"What do you an?" Gu Jin asked.

Liang Bao turned her head and said,

"Jin’er he not only wants the loot but also wants to kill us because..."

"I said shut up!" The young man shouted.

Lu Siyao gathered her ice elent for a powerful attack.

"Ice Barrage!"

Sharp shards of ice shot toward the winged man.

He deflected most of them with a wave of his hand, but a few managed to graze him.

"Enough!" he roared, raising his hand.

A sphere of dark energy began to form, crackling with malevolent power.

"Do you think you all can defeat against ?"

Gu Jin instantly knew that the disparity between them was too much.

Even though she can’t understand why against the young man she wasn’t able to hold on.

"Stop!" Gu Jin shouted.

The winged young man ignored Gu Jin’s words.

"Use it!" Gu Jin commanded.

Whoosh.

A dark ball shot out towards Liang Bao’s direction. Due to the bright light, Gu Jin couldn’t see whether Liang Bao could dodge the attack or not, but when the fire subsided, Liang Bao’s burnt jacket fell.

Gu Jin’s heart stopped for a mont.

"Bao’er!" Lu Siyao shouted. Tears started to stream down her eyes.

"Liang Bao!" Gu Jin scread, feeling a surge of panic and anger.

When the dust settled, there was no sign of Liang Bao, aning she was completely burnt.

"No!" Lu Siyao shouted. "No! No! She can’t die! Bao’er!"

Gu Jin stared blankly at the place where Liang Bao was just a few monts ago. But now there was no one...

"Bao’er?" Gu Jin called out softly.

But no one answered her.

Gu Jin turned silent and for a mont she seed to have been pulled back to her previous life where she was a helpless mafia queen who could only watch her loved ones dying one by one.

The despair, the sadness was slowly overtaking Gu Jin.

The young man suddenly touched his ears and as if he was listening to soone, he showed an irritated expression and said,

"Okay stop being overdramatic hand over the loot."

"Or do I need to remind you who’s in charge here?"

"Oh, are you really going to cry over her? Pathetic. Do you even have the strength to keep your own loot safe?"

Gu Jin’s fists clenched, her knuckles turning white. The words pierced through her like daggers, stoking the flas of her rage.

"Hey, I am talking to you! I want to end this ga quickly! Otherwise, I will lose the bet."

Gu Jin’s fury boiled over.

Sothing inside her snapped.
