"Auntie, please go make a cup of hot tea for Mrs. Lu."
Su Yunjin pulled Mrs. Lu to sit down and asked Aunt Bao to pour tea for her.
Mrs. Lu noticed there were many chilled fruits on the table and smiled, "Su, my dear, there’s no need to trouble yourself. There are plenty of fruits here, and eating these will do. It’s hot weather, isn’t it? Drinking hot tea would only make it hotter, wouldn’t it?"
As she spoke, Mrs. Lu picked a chilled grape and popped it into her mouth. "In this kind of weather, it’s better to have these."
"Only you, Su, are such a connoisseur. If it were , I wouldn’t have thought of such a good idea," said Mrs. Lu, teasing Su Yunjin with a smile as she enjoyed the refreshingly cool grape, then picked another one.
Su Yunjin smiled and instructed Aunt Bao, "Auntie, since Sister Lu doesn’t like hot tea, go to the kitchen and bring her a cup of the chilled plum soup I had soone make this morning."
"Oh, Su, my dear, that would be great. Please bring a cup of plum soup then!" Mrs. Lu said with interest upon hearing this.
Su Yunjin also picked a grape and casually asked, "Sister Lu, I heard from Sister He that you’re quite the busy person. How co you have the leisure to visit today?"
"What? Am I an uninvited guest, and you’re not pleased to see , Su?" Mrs. Lu pretended to be angry.
Su Yunjin imdiately shook her head, "Sister Lu, I couldn’t be happier if you co! As long as you have ti, you’re always welco here. How could I possibly not be delighted?"
Mrs. Lu wasn’t really angry; she was just joking with Su Yunjin.
"Su, to be honest, I ca today because I have sothing to discuss with you!" Changing her expression to a more serious one, Mrs. Lu looked at Su Yunjin earnestly.
Instinctively, Su Yunjin asked, "Sister Lu, what is it that you want to discuss with ?"
Mrs. Lu spat out the grape seeds she had in her mouth and then explained the reason for her visit to Su Yunjin.
"Su, here’s the thing, I’ve taken a fancy to a piece of land over in Yangcheng. I plan to buy that land and build a row of shops. I heard from my elder brother that the area is currently under developnt, and within two years, Yangcheng’s business will be thriving there. Since the area hasn’t developed yet, the land is cheap. If I purchase the land now and use it for business in the future, it’s a surefire investnt."
Su Yunjin remained silent, so Mrs. Lu continued, "After the shops are built, I still plan to continue my jade and antique business. I currently have a majority of the funds, but I’m a bit short. I hope you, Su, can partner with , and we’ll do this business together. As for the profits, how about a 70-30 split? What do you think, Su?"
Mrs. Lu was a savvy and cautious businesswoman, and Su Yunjin knew that partnering with her ant a high chance of only making profits.
What puzzled Su Yunjin, however, was that the Lu Family was wealthy and influential. If Mrs. Qin’s restaurant was the largest and most nurous in town, then the Lu Family’s jade business was the largest in town as well. From what Su Yunjin knew, half of the jade shops in this town belonged to the Lu Family, and they also had several shops over in Yangcheng.
Logically, opening a few more shops should be no problem for Mrs. Lu and she definitely shouldn’t be short of money.
Why would Mrs. Lu claim that she’s still short of so funds?
Mrs. Lu seed to understand the expression on Su Yunjin’s face.
Without beating around the bush, Mrs. Lu asked outright.
"Su, are you puzzled about why I ntioned not having enough money?"
