The jade pendant belonging to Huan was still on the table. After eating a bowl of rice porridge, Su Yunjin called a young maid and asked her to take the jade pendant back to the Lu Residence.
The weather was hot, so Su Yunjin specifically asked the nursemaid to carry her two children to the gazebo to cool off. The gazebo was surrounded by fish ponds filled with little red fish, and the water surface was adorned with lotus flowers. On both sides were lush green willows, occasionally swaying in a cool breeze accompanied by a subtle fragrance. Whenever Su Yunjin was at ho, she enjoyed taking the two children there to relax.
She called for a maid to bring so tea and fruits, and while eating the sweet fruits, she could also enjoy viewing the lotus and willows, feeling very at ease and content.
Little Tiangua held a sweet potato teething stick that Su Yunjin had specially made for her, eating it with great relish. Initially, Little Tiangua didn’t like it, but after Su Yunjin offered it a few more tis, Little Tiangua grew to enjoy it.

Su Yunjin spat out the grape skins and seeds, placing them in a separate small plate.
"Madam, isn’t that Zhenzhen whom you sent to return the jade pendant? She just left, why is she back so soon?" Aunt Bao pointed at the woman in green walking towards them.
Su Yunjin was also surprised, putting down the bunch of grapes in her hand and sitting up from the recliner.
"Zhenzhen, didn’t you go to the Lu Residence to return the jade pendant? Why have you co back?" Aunt Bao questioned the approaching maid.
Before Zhenzhen could answer, laughter from Madam Lu ca from nearby, "I asked her to return. She has already returned the jade pendant to ."
"Madam, it’s Madam Lu!" Aunt Bao looked at Su Yunjin in astonishnt.
At the sa ti, Su Yunjin spotted Madam Lu, accompanied by a maid, walking towards them. The maid explained, "Madam, as soon as I left, I t Madam Lu. After listening to my explanation, Madam Lu accepted the jade pendant and asked to bring her here to see you."
Su Yunjin nodded, ignored the maid, and went over with a smile to greet Madam Lu, "Sister Lu, what brings you here today?" Madam Lu was usually very busy and rarely had free ti. According to Madam He, most of the shops at the Lu Residence were managed by Madam Lu. As for Madam Lu’s son, Young Master Lu, he was typically interested in won and silver. He had visited the shops at the Lu Residence a few tis but had no interest in managing them and couldn’t be bothered to go again. Madam Lu’s Old Madam had scolded her son nurous tis, but Young Master Lu showed no interest whatsoever in doing business.
The few shops that Madam Lu entrusted to Young Master Lu nearly went bankrupt within half a year.
Fearing that the Lu family’s property would be entirely squandered by Young Master Lu, Lu’s Old Madam dared not let her son manage the shops any longer.
Madam Lu was wise and cautious in her work, and the shops she managed were always prosperous. Seeing that her daughter-in-law had a knack for managing the shops, showing the flair she had in her youth, Lu’s Old Madam entrusted more and more shops to Madam Lu. Starting with just a shop or two, now Madam Lu was in charge of half of the Lu Residence’s shops.
Lu’s Old Madam increasingly valued her daughter-in-law. She would consult with her daughter-in-law on both major and minor matters of the household, to the extent that her son held less weight with her than Madam Lu did as her daughter-in-law.
