“Maybe not as the king but I can’t say the sa about my role as a father...” the king replied with a dismissive way of his hand.
Darius followed his father out of the room before they made their way toward the main eting hall where he knew that the young maid would be waiting for them.
...
To say that the eting hall was large would be an understatent. Sothing like gigantic, absurdly enormous, or sothing that ant super big would be most suitable. After being led to what was the main building on the palace grounds, I was stunned at how grand and luxurious everything was. Unlike the other palaces that I’ve been to before, this place had a stifling air of formality and business.
Mada Cassandra and the man who called himself Callum did the perfect job of giving a short rundown of the significance of the main building where I now stood and the importance and honor of getting an audience directly with the king. Callum turned out to be one of the king’s senior advisors. According to them, official business was held here in this building, and it was considered more of a workplace rather than part of the living quarters like the other palaces.
The more they described the endless list of examples of official business that were held here, the more I wondered what the king could want from . Clearly, I had no official business, or any business for that matter to discuss with the king.
After arriving at our destination, the two quickly wished luck and told to be polite. Then without further ado, Callum pushed open the large double doors in front of us, and then Mada Cassandra shoved into the room that awaited beyond.
Just like many tis before when I get dragged into a room, the door quickly closed behind . I doubted that the door to the large hall was locked from the outside but that didn’t give much confidence or comfort. The air inside felt cold and very still. My eyes imdiately took in my new surroundings from the carpet that led the way to the front of the hall to the various flags that hung from the side of the walls. My body froze when I stared up ahead at the two large thrones at the end of the pathway. A lump ford in my throat, and I suddenly found it hard to swallow. I could tell that the thrones were for the king and his queen.
Although I was the only one in the large hall, I still felt extrely nervous. I couldn’t even imagine how anxious and intimidated I would be when the king arrives. The sound of a door opening and closing that sounded in the direction of the thrones on the other end of the hall caught my attention and a shiver ran through my body. Suddenly the room felt even colder than it felt before, and I found myself frozen to the spot. I could tell that soone had just entered the hall and I was no longer alone. It didn’t require a lot of imagination for to guess the identity of the person who had just made his entrance.
To my surprise, Prince Darius was the one who erged first from the shadows. The last ti I saw him was during that strange incident of eting Prince Florian in the bath. I haven’t had a chance to thank him for his help from that day yet. My thoughts quickly evaporated when an older man entered the scene after Prince Darius. I watched as the prince bowed politely to the elder man and I quickly figured out that he must be the king of this kingdom.
The king is really here...
My eyes widened as I continued staring at the figure of the king although I couldn’t see him all too well from the distance that I was standing away from the front of the hall. The two made their way up onto the raise platform before the king sat himself down on his throne. Prince Darius did not take the other seat next to his father although I had expected him to. Instead, he stood close to his father’s side.
“Welco, Mila. Please make your way over here...” Prince Darius called out to in an authoritative and commanding voice.
I jumped at suddenly being called by the prince. Just like I could see them, I bet that the two n could see too. There wasn’t anywhere to hide in that large yet extrely open hall. Even though all I had to do was walk forward toward where the two n were along the carpeted path, it felt extrely difficult to make my body follow my command. I was so nervous that my lower lip was quivering uncontrollably, and my hands had started to sweat.
“Co over here. There’s no need to be shy...” the elder man spoke up with a hint of amusent in his voice.
I was still stunned when I realized that the King had just spoken to . Of course, I have never spoken to a king before and I had no idea how to respond. After taking in a deep breath, I managed to take the first step forward toward the two of them. The steps that followed the first one felt slightly easier and soon I was standing right in front of the raised platform where I guess countless people have stood when they had their eting with the king.
Now that I was standing close enough, I could see the King much clearer than before. Although he was old, he seed to radiate an energetic aura. His once blond hair now had streaks of grey in them, but his eyes were still a very striking blue. This the princes’ father and the king of this kingdom. My gazed dropped down to the floor when I suddenly felt intimidated by him, and I knew better than to stare at the king. However, the color of his eyes as he looked at reminded so much of Prince Leonard. It wasn’t a wonder from whom he had inherited the color of his eyes.
