Chapter 384: Chapter 384 Found

Pei Yansi smiled, but his eyes were filled with indifference. “That’s for the best.”

He changed into a proper suit and stood behind Chen Lingng, allowing the photographer and the makeup team to transform them.

In reality, most of the transformation was done on Chen Lingng, simply because she was in a wheelchair and her deanor wasn’t sufficient besides Pei Yansi, who was outstanding.

Together, Chen Lingng always seed to lack so charm.

In order to make them look more matched, a great effort was spent on Chen Lingng.

Unfortunately, her being in a wheelchair made the shooting very inconvenient. After much busy work, they only managed to shoot one set of wedding photos.

Even so, Chen Lingng was very satisfied.

Looking at the original photos, Chen Lingng was very happy and wanted to say sothing to Pei Yansi, but she saw that he had already left with Zhao Jin without looking back, as if his presence was rely a task.

Chen Lingng sighed, feeling quite downhearted, but she always knew what she wanted. She just wanted to be by his side forever, as his wife, his legally wedded wife.

Even if he didn’t love her, he could never leave her.

After leaving from there, Pei Yansi went straight to the office.

Zhao Jin followed him, reporting recent work in the office, among which the most important was finding the truth about the car accident.

He said, “I’ve found so clues; the truck driver has already been found by us.”

Pei Yansi gave him a glance, “Speak.”

“His family has a critically ill mber, desperately needing a large amount of dical fees he couldn’t produce. Just then, soone approached him, offering to cover the fees and an additional 500,000 as a reward after the job.”

Zhao Jin said, “I suspect that the person is from Chen Lingng’s side.”

“Suspecting?” Pei Yansi’s voice was cold, his gaze chillingly indifferent.

He was not satisfied with such an answer; he needed a hundred percent proof, evidence enough to accuse Chen Lingng.

Zhao Jin said, “I’m still investigating. The person did not directly deal with the driver but used a middleman. I believe we will have results soon.”

Pei Yansi said, “Bring that person to see .”

This matter had already dragged on for too long, and he didn’t want Zhao Jin to delay further. Zhao Jin’s thods were too mild.

Unlike him, he was famously known for his swift asures.

No matter what, he wanted the most direct results in the shortest ti.

“I’m going now.”

Zhao Jin imdiately went out, and not long after, he brought a man inside.

The man had a long scar on his face, wore plain work clothes, dirty with mud, with nurous wrinkles on his face and mostly white hair.

Standing in front of Pei Yansi, he instinctively felt the oppressive aura emanating from him, fear creeping in as he carefully looked at him, “What’s the aning of this?”

He had been working well at the construction site when suddenly he was dragged here.

Looking at the man before him, he felt he was extrely dangerous, especially the way he looked at him, which carried a clear intent to kill.

Pei Yansi looked at him and asked indifferently, “What’s your na?”

The man said, “I’m Wang Zhiqiang.”

Wang Zhiqiang said this, unable to help but lower his head to look at the floor beneath his feet—it was too clean, and his feet were muddy, all from the construction site. He was afraid of dirtying the floor tiles.

Pei Yansi said, “You used to be a truck driver, a cargo transporter, right?”

Wang Zhiqiang nodded.

“About over a week ago, soone approached you, had you drive and cause an accident, right?”

Upon hearing this, Wang Zhiqiang was stunned, his face turning pale. He had known from the mont he did it that it was only a matter of ti before it would be discovered.

Such matters, once uncovered, would an prison, but his mother was sick, and he could never afford the huge dical fee needed for surgery.

When soone directly ca to him, he had no other choice but to agree.

Pei Yansi said, “You’d better think carefully before you answer; I haven’t determined anything specific, just asking you about the facts.”

Wang Zhiqiang rubbed his head. Although Pei Yansi said this, he was not foolish—he could see the indifference and ruthlessness in Pei Yansi’s eyes.

If they didn’t already have solid evidence, why would they forcibly bring him here just to ask about this?

He stamred, “Indeed, there was such an incident.”

“The other party, male or female, any characteristics? Speak now, and I might consider that you did this for your family’s dical conditions and won’t do anything to you.”

Pei Yansi’s hand curled up, fingers lightly tapping on the table in front of him, looking at him and saying, “However, if you hide anything, I can’t guarantee what I’ll do.”

Hearing his threatening words, Wang Zhiqiang was scared out of his wits. He was just an ordinary man, inexplicably involved in these powerful conflicts.

He dared not conceal anything.

But he couldn’t afford to offend people from either side—if those on the other side knew, he wouldn’t end up in good shape either.

Pei Yansi, seeming to see through his thoughts, took the initiative to say, “Don’t worry, as long as you are willing to speak clearly and provide a way to find the person, I will cover your mother’s surgery cost in full. I’ll also give you an additional 1 million as a reward, and then send you away, not letting them find your traces.”

Pei Yansi’s words were not re threats to get results. He indeed could understand how a serious illness could crush an ordinary family.

Wang Zhiqiang seed not a bad person, just soone cornered, soone who was handed a knife to ruin soone else’s life—not taking a life but saving his most important person.

Faced with such a choice, few could remain unmoved.

As for the money, he wasn’t lacking that 1 million.

Yet, Wang Zhiqiang said, “Boss, although I don’t know who you are, I won’t take that 1 million. Things that don’t belong to will only bring trouble.”

“I know I can’t afford to provoke either of you, I just hope my mom and I can be safe. She raised through hardships, and I can’t just watch her die.”

“To gather money for her surgery, I had to do this. It was my mistake, and I can lead you to that person. I don’t need your 1 million; I just hope after this, you can send my mother and away. I want to return to a peaceful life.”

Pei Yansi was taken aback for a mont, as if he hadn’t expected there to be soone like this in the world who, when faced with the temptation of money, would rather choose a peaceful life.

He looked at the honest worker before him, “I promise you.”
