"The Mo Family’s clan eting starts tomorrow, and a lot of people have co to the city. I see you haven’t gone out in a while, so I thought I’d fill you in."

The Mo Family’s clan eting is tomorrow? A sense of shock passed through Dugu Qianye. He hadn’t realized that he had been sitting for more than ten days, which explained why his bones felt so stiff when he got up just now.

"The first few days should be for the various branches to report their situations. We’ll wait until the branch rankings and contests begin before we go," Dugu Qianye said.

"Right, I heard that the Feng Family has arrived too, the head of the main family in person," Zhou Hai rembered that Dugu Qianye had once wiped out one of their branches, so he pointed this out to caution her against running into them when she went out.

Dugu Qianye nodded, signaling that she understood, and Zhou Hai then retired to his own room.

The next day, the Mo Family’s clan eting officially began. Dugu Qianye gave Zhou Hai a Disguise Pill. After he changed his appearance, they both left the hotel together.

The branch reports were not public, thus, despite the influx of people for the eting, not many were about. Dugu Qianye and Zhou Hai found a teahouse near the Mo Family’s premises, but all the private rooms were taken, so they sat down in the only two seats available in the main hall. A Xiao’er imdiately served them tea.

As they drank their tea, they listened to the people around them discussing the Mo Family’s eting. They learned that the preliminary reports would take five days, the branch rankings would extend over a ten-plus day period, or even more than twenty days. After that, there would be an additional item on the agenda this year, but the specifics were not disclosed. Dugu Qianye and Zhou Hai guessed it might be related to the trial of Mo Qiuhua.

Having heard what they wanted, the two returned to the hotel. Zhou Hai went back to his room in a despondent mood, while Dugu Qianye entered her room and then went into the Refining Demon Pot to share the day’s news with Mo Zhenting and the others.

Over the following days, Dugu Qianye cultivated in her room, while Zhou Hai went out every day to gather information, reporting anything significant back to Dugu Qianye.

Dugu Qianye knew that his daily outings were in hopes of uncovering anything about Mo Qiuhua. Understanding his feelings, and considering that he had disguised himself and wouldn’t be recognized by the Mo Family, she instructed him not to act rashly and then let him be.

Although the Mo Family’s branch reports were not public, bits of information still leaked out unintentionally. For example, how much money a particular branch had made in recent years, or which branch had produced a cultivation prodigy, an alchemy prodigy, or a beast taming prodigy, and so on.

As the information continued to spread, the reverence for the Mo Family grew steadily. However, it was said that in the past, the Mo Family kept such information tightly sealed, maintaining a low profile. The ease with which information was getting out this year seed to be due to the Feng Family matter.

The very day the branch reports concluded, Dugu Qianye changed back into her female attire, and using the Token given by Black and White Impermanence, went to et the Family Head of the Mo Family.

"Miss, please co this way," said the guard, leading Dugu Qianye outside the Mo Family’s main hall.

Dugu Qianye entered and saw a middle-aged man clad in dark attire waiting for her inside.

Mo Jingchuan’s eyes flashed with puzzlent upon seeing Dugu Qianye, but he still greeted her with a smile, "Miss, please have a seat. May I ask your na, and how co you hold such an advanced-level Token from the Alchemist Guild?" He motioned for the maid to return the Token to her.

"My na is Dugu Qianye," she replied straightforwardly.

"Dugu Qianye?" Mo Jingchuan raised an eyebrow.

He had heard the na Dugu Qianye before. Last year, when the Feng Family’s Wulai City branch had been annihilated, the Feng Family insisted Mo Family had a hand in it. Although they never admitted to it, he had sent people to investigate. The investigators brought back the full story, including the grudges between the Feng and Mo families of the Xuanyue Continent and how Dugu Qianye had led the charge in wiping out the Feng branch. He thought that this Dugu Qianye was no ordinary woman. That she had now co before him so openly only confird his suspicions.

"I believe you must have co across this na before, it’s rely a question of whether you rember it or not," Dugu Qianye said, unconsciously thanking the maid who had served her tea.

"Why do you think I would have heard of your na?" Mo Jingchuan raised an eyebrow.

"The affair of the Feng Family in Wulai City caused quite a stir, and they used it as an excuse to challenge the authority of your top-tier families. Wouldn’t you send soone to investigate? With your capabilities, it would have been easy to clarify the events of that ti," Dugu Qianye said. "Perhaps you even cleared up a few other matters in the process."

"Hehe, your analysis is correct," Mo Jingchuan said. "But so what?"

"So nothing," Dugu Qianye drank her tea, set down the cup, and looked at Mo Jingchuan, "but you know why I’m here today."

Mo Jingchuan looked at Dugu Qianye, the aura of the Family Head about him, unconsciously carrying a regal and compelling presence. He had not encountered soone who could remain so calm before him, their bearing not even losing out to his own!

"You’re rely the descendant of an exile, why do you think I would agree to let them return to the family? If other exiles learn of this, and they all co asking, what then? Especially since you’re soone who has caused so much trouble for the Mo Family," Mo Jingchuan said.

"I never expected you to let them return unconditionally," Dugu Qianye explained. "I’m just asking for an opportunity."

"A reason?" Mo Jingchuan’s interest in her was growing.

"Actually, with or without us, the situation is roughly the sa. The Feng Family’s troubles with the Mo Family had been preditated, and we were rely a catalyst. The Head of the Mo Family must know this, so whether we are involved or not, the outco remains the sa. Isn’t it better to acknowledge it as such?" Dugu Qianye finished and looked at Mo Jingchuan.

"And that can be considered a reason?"

"Of course!" Dugu Qianye said.

"Without you, there might still be room for negotiation between the Mo Family and the Feng Family. But allowing you to return would leave no room at all," Mo Jingchuan argued.

"But you have no intention of letting the Feng Family off the hook," Dugu Qianye stated emphatically.

Mo Jingchuan looked at Dugu Qianye’s confident face and asked, "Oh? I never said that."

"Although you haven’t said it, you’re acting on it. Otherwise, this issue wouldn’t have dragged on until today, still leaving the Feng Family with this excuse."

"Alright, you’re right. But where are they? Why didn’t they co themselves? Without even the courage to co, they are not qualified to return," Mo Jingchuan continued.

"Regarding this matter, I’d like to ask, if I hadn’t brought the token of the Alchemist Guild, would you have let enter Mo Family’s gate, to et with ?" Dugu Qianye retorted.

"No," he was already quite busy with the family summit, and he t her solely because her token was an advance-level token from the Alchemist Guild.
