Issac could not tell which was more frustrating, the unrelenting cold that was beginning to penetrate his bones or the annoying dark Fae horse shifter that he swore was relishing his misery.
At first, he thought that Maxi was ssing around with him and would give up when she got bored, but that didn’t seem to be the case here. Currently. It seems that the horse shifter ca prepared and not only was she lying down on her water-resistant sheet, but the annoyingly smart Fae had constructed a makeshift canopy tent.
In one word, while the snow ca down in big flakes and lted on his body, Maxi was well protected and her leisure activity seed to taunt him. She was on her back with her leg propped on her bent knee, lazy feeding on the snacks and fruits - she had undoubtedly stolen from the kitchen.
Issac tried not to think about how enticing her position was and how it would be nice to get a break from the harsh, biting cold. Issac gritted his teeth and looked away, with a bit of annoyance in his eyes. This was obviously Maxi trying to rile him up and get him to give up on his plan. Of all the places that she could "mind her business" Why was it beside him? She loved to get on his nerves.
"You do know you’re welco to join , there’s room for two." She patted the space beside her, with that deceiving smile.
As if he was going to fall for her trick. Issac scoffed at her antics.
She added at once, "I’m not trying to thwart your plans, my shy Fae. No, contrary to your thoughts, I’m here for you. Think of it as moral support. And right now, I’m sure a little break wouldn’t hurt you."
Issac’s head whipped towards her, his nostrils flaring, "What are you doing here, Maxi? Shouldn’t you be more concerned that a Fae might mistakenly co by and notice what you are," He hinted at the markings on her face.
"I told you, I’m here to support your plan that’s bound to fail."
Issac’s face soured.
"Sorry, not sorry. I can be quite blunt when soone I offered my elite advice to is behaving like a child."
His scowl deepened as he protested, "I am not a child!"
Yet, Maxi was not affected by his outburst, saying calmly, "I’m sorry my shy Fae but you were still sucking your mother’s nipples when I began to roam this realm. By human standards, I’m older than you by at least fifteen years," She trailed off, face scrunching as realization dawned on her, "Now, doesn’t that make our relationship rather awkward? Isn’t this referred to as child abuse in the human realm?"
Issac gawked at Maxi, rendered impossible with words. What in the world of Fae had he gotten himself into by getting involved with this maniac? And to think he still finds her sexy, sohow. Indeed, he has lost his damn mind.
Maxi suddenly grinned, a gleam in her eyes, "But on the bright side, this is not the human realm and you are grown. You grew up into a fine Fae, Aldric," Her eyes ran the length of him.
At once, Issac brought his hands to his chest, protecting himself from her lascivious looks. He had no doubt Maxi had undressed him with her eyes and he had no idea whether to be repulsed or aroused she checked him out.
He stared at her with furrowed eyes, "Does Aldric know his horse shifter is a pervert?"
Maxi laughed lightly, "Tell , Issac, aren’t we all perverts?" She matter-of-factly waved her hands.
Unable to deal with Maxi and her quirks, Issac shook his head and turned away with his judgental look. Without even realizing it, Maxi had kept the cold away by keeping him engaged in conversation and while he was tempted to continue with it, the dark horse shifter had a knack for rendering him speechless.
However, as the minutes went by, his anxiety increased over her insistence to stay, and he asked when he couldn’t take it any more, "Aren’t you seriously going to leave before soone sees you?"
"Why?" Maxi propped her head on an arm, "Are you coming to bed with ?" She asked with a sweet smile.
"Oh," Issac saw what she was doing. He huffed, "I am not moving a spot from here."
"In that case, I am not leaving either."
"Even if soone sees?" He asked, bewildered.
"Oh, don’t worry, Aldric would probably erase the Fae’s mory and if he doesn’t arrive on ti, I’ll probably end whoever that be." She announced with a cold finality in her tone that sent chills down Issac’s back.
"Don’t look at that way, it’s my life or theirs." She sat up, shrugging as if taking a life was not a big deal. An innocent life.
Issac’s jaw set, anger and disappointnt rising inside of him.
He snarled, "In a situation that could have been avoided," The disapproval was strong in his eyes.
"In that case, try being a dark Fae horse shifter and see how comfortable it is cooped up in that form all day," Although she smiled, it did not hide the undercurrent anger laced in her voice.
She continued, "Also, it is a situation that could have been avoided if you had only returned to your room with ."
Hearing that statent and entitlent in her tone made anger flare inside of Issac, "You have no control over , Maxi. We might have had a bit of fun and played around a bit but you are nothing to , Maxi, so don’t try to decide my actions when you’re not and would never be my mate!"
Maxi flinched at that statent, hurt flashing across her face only for a bit of a mont before she reined in her emotions, becoming expressionless.
"Indeed, I have no control over you, else I shouldn’t tell you that Aldric is currently with Islinda, doing what we know he does best, and probably wouldn’t leave her bed until sunrise."
She continued with a curl of her lips, "I shouldn’t also tell you that you can’t get into Aldric’s good grace for a century or two unless you get Islinda involved and she agrees to help you." Maxi took a deep breath, "No, that would be an older, manipulative, and dark Fae horse shifter controlling your life."
Issac opened his mouth to speak but she cut him off.
Maxi rose to her feet, saying, "You can have my crudely made tent, it would save you from losing a limb as you go on with your brilliant plan. It’s now yours. No, I made it for you from the start anyway, I guess I’m not that good at showing kindness." She stared at him, "Anyway if I were to be you, I would avoid Aldric for the mont. Have a nice night, Issac."
She left without another word.
Issac stared at Maxi’s retreating figure with a stricken face and didn’t know which one was worse, the fact that he just pissed off Aldric and his oddly close companion Maxi, or the fact she just called him" Issac" instead of "my shy Fae".
Damn.
