Issac shivered in the cold yet he gritted his teeth and hardened his resolve. The Fae was currently kneeling in the courtyard, not caring about the snow that seeped through his clothes to chill him.

Aldric has not talked to him since the night of the incident nor called for him and it dawned on him that the dark Fae prince was giving him the silent treatnt on purpose. So here he was punishing himself and as well, trying to draw Aldric’s attention.

He hated Aldric’s silence because he couldn’t tell what was on his mind. Has the prince gone back on his promise of not touching his family and would punish him by harming his loved ones? So yes, he was desperate and needed to do sothing.

Perhaps, he should be grateful it was a light snow, the tiny crystals hardly visible in the night, at least for a human, unlike blowing snow storms considering the weather was tied to Aldric’s emotion. Issac expected that the dark prince would be mad throughout the day considering the incident lately. Whatever Islinda was doing, she was doing a fine good job - except it denied him seeing Aldric.

Issac stared into the night, the ground entirely white with the branches of trees heavy with snow, and a cold wind whipped against his face. Issac wondered how long he would have to kneel until Aldric made an appearance and if he would last against the cold.

He was only part sumr Fae, aning he couldn’t regulate his body heat with his fire magic effectively as a pureblood sumr Fae would. Not to ntion autumn Faeries were the least resilient against the cold. Even an average sumr Fae would only last so much till their magic depleted. One thing was for sure, he couldn’t last till the morning ca.

"I know you are brave, Issac, but even I couldn’t resort to this level of stupidity," Soone said and Issac did not turn because he had sensed, rather the voice was so familiar he could tell who it belonged to even in the middle of a deep sleep. The cold had dulled his senses a bit so he couldn’t tell Maxi had co to find him until the last minute.

"Let guess, you t a cold bed and decided to co find ," Issac said with a snark, eting Maxi’s bemused expression.

"How you know so well, Issac. Definitely a Fae after my own heart," She mockingly gasped, a hand on her chest.

"Just leave alone," Issac scowled. He was not in the mood for her teasing.

"Why, Issac?" She ca to stand in front of him, "Because you did sothing wrong, Issac? What a naughty Fae you are?" Maxi grinned at him shalessly.

Issac stared at her impassively, was she being serious right now? This was not the ti for jokes. So Issac set his jaw and stared ahead, refusing to give her the attention she needed.

Realizing that Issac wouldn’t talk to her if she went on like this, Maxi decided to drop the frivolity. She said, "You do know Aldric would not talk to you even if you remained here till the end of ti?"

He turned his hardened look to her, "What?"

"Take it from soone who has known Aldric for a long ti...." Her brows furrowed thoughtfully, "No, for a very, very, very, very, very, very -"

"Just get to the point, Maxi!" He cut her off impatiently.

But the dark horse shifter shook her head, "Tsk, tsk, tsk, bad manners, Issac. You shouldn’t interrupt your elders while they speak."

Issac bit back a sharp retort, realizing he still needed Maxi’s help and couldn’t blow up his chances of getting into Aldric’s good grace again - before it was too late.

"Fine, what is it?" He gave her a sweet smile.

"That’s the attitude, my shy Fae," Maxi returned the smile, even going as far as patting his cheeks while Issac barely controlled his temper. The horse shifter sure knows how to pull his buttons.

"It’s getting cold, Maxi. Perhaps, tell what I can do now?" He demanded a solution.

"Simply, you do nothing," Maxi announced, watching as Issac’s face fell.

"What?"

"Aldric can bear quite a grudge, I suggest you stay out of his sight for a while until he rediscovers your use for him. In one word, your little protest at the mont would only aggravate the situation."

For a mont, there was nothing but silence until Issac huffed and looked away. Of course, he didn’t believe her.

"Leave alone, Maxi. "

"Fine, do whatever you want," She huffed away.

Issac stared at the empty space with resolve in his eyes. How could he do nothing in this case? He couldn’t tell if his family was safe or not. Issac was determined to get the dark prince’s attention one way or another.

It felt like hours even though it was only minutes when the cold began to get to him. Issac summoned what was left of his magic to keep himself warm and was concentrating on managing it when a thud on his side startled him.

Issac looked shocked to see Maxi once more and this ti she dropped a sheet on the floor and a basket of the gods knows what.

"What are you doing?" Issac was stunned watching as she spread the apparent waterproof sheet on the ground, then laid on it with her limbs sprawled out, undignified.

"What? Why are you looking at like that?" She asked, returning the looks while popping a grape into her mouth.

"W–what..I... w--where....?" Issac was spluttered, having no idea where to start. "I thought I told you to leave alone," He finally found his voice.

"Yes, you did and that is what I’m doing. You are currently minding your business by kneeling on the cold ground and tornting yourself Issac.." She frowned," I didn’t realize you have a bit of masochism in you, though. Perhaps, I could incorporate a bit of that in bed when you’re ready. Nonetheless, here I am chilling and enjoying the sight of you torturing yourself. In one word, I am minding my business, my shy Fae. "
