Chapter 1016: Chapter 585: Today, Let’s et the Speaker Properly Chapter 1016: Chapter 585: Today, Let’s et the Speaker Properly On the Holy Fire Platform of the Council of the Undead, the originally blazing Undead Holy Fire had been whisked away, a huge surge of Breath of Death rose violently into the skies.

Gust stood there helplessly, muttering, “The Breath of Death is surging, what has happened?”

His Undead minions, along with many other Undead that had stayed behind, crowded around, bombarding him with questions, “Chairman, what has happened? What exactly has happened? Was it caused by that strange wind just now? Please, speak.”

Gust thought to himself, I would like to know as well, who can tell what has happened?

Though he was puzzled inwardly, Gust cald himself on the outside and said, “Don’t panic, I am also investigating. What was that strange wind just now? Did anyone see how it started?”

“I don’t know, I just felt a cyclone moving back and forth over the Resting Plains, the wind made it very uncomfortable to be outside. As it blew, it eventually dissipated on its own.” a Witch replied.

“Circling? In which area was it circling?” Gust imdiately seized upon the key point.

The Witch pointed in a direction.

Gust’s spirits lifted, “Could it be sothing triggered by the Undead Temple again? Does Kent still have such capabilities? No, that can’t be right, even in the glorious days of the Undead Temple, I never saw such strange winds.”

Soone cautiously asked, “Could it be sothing caused by that person kept below?”

“Kept below? Who is kept below? Isn’t it just His Majesty’s Land of Slumber beneath? Or is it beneath the temple?” So newcors, unaware of the situation, asked puzzlingly.

This was no secret, since no one had asked before. Thus, soone replied, “The one kept below is very powerful, a Mourning Level entity known as Giant Hand Baru. His Majesty had confined him for hundreds of years, no one knows his current state, he might already have perished.”

Perishing was impossible; as long as the Monarch had not slain him, Mourning Level Baru couldn’t possibly have perished in centuries of imprisonnt. However, Gust was well aware of Baru’s manner of confinent, which made escape nearly impossible without external help.

The inexplicable strange wind, the inexplicable surge of death, all were unprecedented experiences for Gust, and after questioning everyone, not a single reasonable explanation erged. He could only watch the breath of death continue unabated.

“It seems it’s not entirely a bad thing. The erupted Breath of Death has sowhat freshened the air up here.” a Witch suddenly inhaled deeply, sowhat intoxicatedly comnting.

Others also began to ‘breathe’, a process obviously not of inhaling air, but of soul breathing—guiding the breath of death into their souls with each expansion and contraction, refining and absorbing it, thereby rejuvenating their spirits.

Feeling the rich breath of death, Gust also reacted, “This… doesn’t seem like a bad thing after all.”

The increased density of the Breath of Death was not harmful to the Undead; in fact, it might be beneficial. The more Skeleton Zombies were spawned, the greater the number of lower-level Undead, thus increasing the chances for the birth of intelligent Undead. By chance, one of these Zombies could turn out to be a Witch, who could say for sure?

Of course, for living beings it was far from good news; the soil would be soaked with the breath of death, eliminating wild grass and insects and possibly even forming Breathing Soil, preventing all life from surviving except for certain special plants like Cetery Grass or Soul Moss.

But, what does this have to do with the Undead? The current ‘order’ of this deathly world was deliberately structured by His Majesty. If left to Gust’s considerations, no living being should exist within the bounds of death, as it was impossible to be sure whether those creatures were spies or not.

The Undead Temple had revived, and Gust hurried back, fearing just this.

Recently, the Sorcerer Alliance had been very active. Just a few days ago, Gust had received news that at least three ladders of magicians had vanished without a trace, their whereabouts unknown.

Moreover, there were reports that Void Ghost Hayden had also disappeared—the very United Sorcerer Gust was most wary of, being an Undead.

Gust was never afraid of the living magicians; after all, there was a distinction between life and death. No matter how formidable a living magician was, they could only go so far as to clash with the Undead Empire.

In terms of conflict, the Undead Empire feared no enemy, undeterred and relentless with their inexhaustible Undead Tide that could drown everything on the surface.

However, Hayden was a traitor among the Undead, serving the Sorcerer Alliance despite his nature. He could easily raise an Undead Army to exploit the advantages of the Undead and combat the Undead Empire on the ground.

Previously, with the Monarch suppressing him, Hayden couldn’t expand his reach, but now, with Your Majesty trapped, and the support of the Sorcerer Alliance behind him, his advantage could be enormous.

Imagine, if Hayden were to summon an Undead Army, fiercely advancing, and when one went to obstruct him, he would drop a multitude of Annihilation Spheres from the sky.

Both sides being Undead, the quantity beca the essential factor. If outnumbered, they would be bombarded by Annihilation Spheres; if fewer, they couldn’t push past the enemy. The Sorcerer Alliance’s aerial superiority was significant and if they gained ground advantage too, the fall of the Undead Empire would just be a matter of ti.

However, oddly enough, the very situation Gust dreaded most had never occurred—it seed as if the Sorcerer Alliance hadn’t thought of it at all. Now, with Hayden missing, could it be he had realized this?

One Hayden might not cause significant trouble, but the disappearance of three sorcerer ladders had left Gust unable to ignore the possibility that the Sorcerer Alliance was plotting sothing, hence his vigilance over the revival of the Undead Temple.

If it ca to it, the eruption of the Breath of Death might not seem so bad after all.

Just then, a guard suddenly ca to report, “Chairman Gust, Grand Priest Kent has arrived with a group of people.”

“Kent? If he’s coming, let him co. Does he still need to announce it?” Hayden said, puzzled. Despite Kent’s unremarkable reputation within the Empire and only a handful of Skeleton Knights following him, his status was indeed extraordinary.

High Priest of the Temple, Old Undead, among those who had lived the longest in the Undead Empire—apart from the Eye of Eternal Silence, there was no place he needed to announce his arrival to enter.

“Ah? I… uh…” the reporting guard’s complexion changed drastically, stamring a few tis before scampering off in a panic.

Gust’s heart skipped a beat. That stance, was it not that Kent needed to announce, but that the guard had stopped him?

Had Kent been away for too long and the new guards didn’t recognize him, thus stopping him? This was tragic—this damn guard was bringing disaster; why stop him? Hadn’t Kent just squeezed a temple out of this place recently, and now they were giving him another excuse to extort them?

What he feared ca to pass. Kent, leading a group, ascended to the platform. Before he even arrived, his voice could be heard, “Oh, Gust, I need to announce to see you? With His Majesty absent are you puffing yourself up, treating like what? Very well then, today I shall properly pay my respects to the esteed Chairman Gust!”
