After the first downpour ended, Mi Yin and Ling Hong led the Beastn to gather supplies, build wooden houses, find suitable stone on a nearby mountain, and construct a periter wall.
An Jin, anwhile, picked a few strong Beastn to follow Xi to the sea to inspect the salt stones and clay.
The Land Beastn were not skilled swimrs. And while An Jin had Xi’s Shark Pearl inside her, allowing her to dive freely, the water during the great rainy season was bone-chillingly cold, and the undercurrents near the sea were exceptionally fierce.
So, Xi put in so effort and produced several large bubbles, encasing each of them in one of the unusually sturdy spheres before sending them into the water.
The current from the swish of the rfolk’s long tail guided the bubbles, pulling them along as he swam forward.
As ti passed, An Jin could feel the light in the water dimming, even from inside her bubble. They were gradually moving further from the land and sky, heading into the depths of the sea.
Schools of colorful fish, both large and small, swam past them. The magnificent floating algae and coral on the seabed were a feast for the eyes. It was hard not to covet the abundant marine resources.
"We’re here!"
As Xi’s voice rang out in surprise, the bubbles stopped moving. He brushed aside a thick patch of seaweed, revealing several brown rocks on the dark, muddy seabed.
At first glance, these salt stones looked no different from ordinary rocks, but their composition was unique; they could absorb the high concentration of salt from the ocean.
Once the salt stones were brought to land and their surfaces were dried, a large amount of coarse salt crystals would form on the exterior. After a preliminary filtering, it would be edible.
Following An Jin’s instructions, Xi gathered all the salt stones in the area, packed them into a bubble, and swam onward. Soon, he reached the location of the rare clay.
This type of clay was unique to the Beast World. It was grayish-white and beca adhesive when mixed with ordinary sand and stone. Its properties were sowhat like a combination of cent and asphalt, making it suitable for building city walls and foundations.
The clay also seed to have so fine ore fragnts mixed in. ’It must be a composite of several types of mineral-rich earth.’
After gathering the salt stones and clay, the group hurried back to the tribe with the supplies, making it just before the second downpour hit.
Ling Hong and the others had also returned early. While An Jin’s group was away, they had worked quickly to build another nine wooden houses.
With the clay, the periter walls were soon erected around the tribe’s borders. They would no longer have to fear the coming beast tide!
But before the second downpour could arrive, An Jin ca down with a cold. She lay on the bed, her little face flushed, yawning listlessly.
’This body is so weak. It can’t even handle a little chill.’ She had only gone out with Xi once, yet the very next day her head felt fuzzy, and she started running a fever and sneezing.
Outside, thunder rumbled as the gloomy rain fell without end.
An Jin’s mood soured even further.
Xi and Mi Yin, who naturally loved the damp, gloomy weather, had gone out to hunt and weren’t back yet. So, Ling Hong stayed ho to take care of her.
Ling Hong dug a clean, thick bearskin out of a wooden chest and draped it over her. He bundled the female up until she looked like a big, brown burrito, with only her flushed little face peeking out.
But An Jin still felt cold, and her body shivered uncontrollably.
"Have so hot porridge. It might help," Ling Hong said, erging flustered from the kitchen with a bowl of at porridge. He brought a wooden spoon to her pale lips and fed her one spoonful at a ti.
After finishing the steaming at porridge, she did indeed feel a bit better. Her mouth was slightly parted, and she licked a stray bit of porridge from her lips. "The herbs are in the room on the second floor. Can you go boil a dicinal soup for ?"
An Jin was a Witch Doctor’s apprentice and had a habit of storing commonly used herbs. Having been by her side for so long, Ling Hong could recognize the herbs used for a common cold and fever.
"Alright. You get so sleep. I’ll go prepare the dicinal soup." He tucked her in, but as soon as he stepped out of the room to head upstairs, he ran into Mi Yin, who had just returned from hunting.
Ling Hong said in a low voice, "She’s sick."
HISS~
Mi Yin’s brow furrowed and his heart clenched. Without another word, he slithered into the room.
