The female’s eyes were half-closed, her eyelids seemingly too heavy to lift. Patches of red colored her cheeks.

She was curled up listlessly under the animal-hide blanket, her head hanging low.

Hearing the door, An Jin thought Ling Hong had finished brewing the dicine. But as she was about to look up, a chilly embrace enveloped her.

"How are you so hot?" Mi Yin pulled her into his arms. His cool strands of hair fell onto her as his long fingers lovingly caressed her face.

An Jin shivered violently at the touch and burrowed deeper into the blanket, leaving only the top of her head facing him.

The female’s scorching body heat transferred through the thick blankets, leaving only a pleasant warmth against Mi Yin’s chest. The perfect temperature intoxicated the Snake Beast, and it felt as if his own cold body was taking on the sa feverish heat.

But more than that, he felt an uncontrollable pang in his heart.

"Give the dicinal soup. I’ll feed her." Seeing the Wolf Beast enter with a steaming stone bowl, Mi Yin’s scarlet, slitted pupils imdiately shot him a cold glare. His tone left no room for argunt.

The hostility that had been simring for days toward Ling Hong threatened to boil over.

"You’re too cold. Get away from her, you’ll make An Jin’s condition worse." Ling Hong was unafraid, returning Mi Yin’s stare with an equally cold expression, though his fingers tightened around the scalding stone bowl.

In the few short seconds of their standoff, An Jin let out a weak whimper from within Mi Yin’s arms, instantly shattering the tense atmosphere between them.

The two of them imdiately forgot about their jealous rivalry.

While Mi Yin held the female, Ling Hong stepped forward. He pulled back the thick blanket to reveal her flushed, feverish face, then gently blew on the spoonful of dicinal soup to cool it before feeding it to her, mouthful by mouthful.

After drinking the steaming dicine, An Jin’s complexion clearly improved. The dicine’s effect soon made her drowsy, and she quickly fell into a deep sleep.

A cold cos on fast, but it goes away fast, too.

Two days later, An Jin’s cold was almost gone. Seeing the rare, beautiful weather outside, she couldn’t resist going for a walk.

She picked up two soapbeans and a small, fuzzy fruit that resembled a toothbrush, planning to wash up at the nearby river.

As the first rainy season ended, the ground temperature gradually rose. The sun peeked out from behind the clouds, casting a warm glow. As a heat-loving Snake Beast, Mi Yin couldn’t help but transform into his snake form and coil up by the door to sunbathe.

HISS~ An Jin had just stepped halfway out the door when she accidentally trod on his tail. The black-and-red python instantly shot up, baring its fangs, ready to bite the offender.

But after getting a clear look at the female’s face, the python abruptly halted its attack just half a centiter away from her. HISS~ It hesitantly flicked its bright red tongue, deciding to turn its bite into a lick, and affectionately yet carefully licked her face.

Sensing that An Jin’s temperature had returned to normal, the weight in Mi Yin’s heart was secretly lifted.

His upper body transford into that of a tall, handso, and well-built man. He pulled the female’s waist against his chest, his snake tail coiling around her calves, wanting to bask in the warm sunlight and share an intimate mont with his beloved female.

"Don’t ss around. I’m going to the river to wash up. You stay here and sunbathe." An Jin gently patted his tail. Mi Yin flicked his tongue, nuzzled his head against her neck, and then reluctantly let her go.

The peace didn’t last for two days before the second wave of torrential rain arrived.

Fortunately, the tribe had already prepared and stored enough supplies. Even with the sudden increase in population, they didn’t have to worry about survival.

Just as An Jin had expected, the unusually frequent Beast Tides this year had destroyed many of the surrounding small and dium-sized tribes, leaving a large number of Beastn displaced.

Her tribe, which was sufficiently safe, beca fatally attractive to these wandering Beastn, and the tribe’s population continued to rise.

[Population: 135↑ (Females: 17↑)]

[Morale: 38↓]

All the numbers were within her plans. The tribe had only been established for a month, and its population had already broken into the triple digits.

This was an excellent start.

Besides, in this Beast Tide, the old, weak, sick, and disabled Beastn had long since beco food for the wild beasts.

The Beastn who had successfully escaped the Beast Tide and joined the tribe were almost all in their pri—the best source of labor. On this point alone, the tribe’s overall combat strength already surpassed that of other tribes of the sa level.

RUMBLE, RUMBLE! THUD, THUD!

On an ordinary evening during the heavy rainy season, several earth-shattering tremors suddenly ca from outside. The ground trembled nonstop, mixed with the hair-raising roars of countless wild beasts.

’It’s a Beast Tide!’

’No, that’s not right!’

An Jin was shocked to realize that the previous Beast Tides hadn’t been this intense.

Steadying herself, she rushed to the window and peered into the distance. Where the arch of the sky t the earth, several stampeding, frenzied Giant Beasts erged. They destroyed mountains and split valleys wherever they went, kicking up massive clouds of dust and white mist.

These Giant Beasts were nearly ten ters long and eight ters tall. Their appearance was a bizarre combination of a bird and a crocodile—weren’t they prehistoric dinosaurs?

They had long, slender necks, small yet ferocious heads, and massive mouths filled with hundreds of sharp fangs beneath scarlet eyes. Their appearance was terrifying.

Amidst the raging storm, hurricane-force winds tore through the forest and bolts of lightning ripped across the sky. The apocalyptic flashes of light made the group of prehistoric dinosaurs look even more monstrous and imnse.

The horde of crazed, hungry dinosaurs was closing in on the tribe, step by step.

They were only a few kiloters from the tribe!

These dinosaurs were nothing like ordinary wild beasts. A typical Beastman would be completely unable to drive them away and would instead beco a tasty al in their mouths.

Hordes of Giant Beasts were a once-in-decades event, yet now a massive one was breaking out on the plains. Could it really be that the Beast God was angry and had sent down a natural disaster?!

The hearts of the Beastn in the tribe were filled with despair. They feared they wouldn’t be able to escape this disaster.

...

"Jin’er, don’t be afraid. I’ll go take care of them." Mi Yin, forced awake from his slumber, pulled the female aside and comforted her in a soft voice.

Then, he stared out the window, his blood-red eyes erupting with intense killing intent.

Given his personality, he normally wouldn’t have ddled in the tribe’s affairs—he felt no sense of belonging to it. But since these Giant Beasts threatened Jin’er’s safety, they had only one path: death.

Ling Hong quickly said, "I’ll take a few Beastn and go with you."

"If you don’t want those Beastn to die, feel free to bring them," Mi Yin said nonchalantly, his tone arrogant and cold.

Ling Hong’s face turned cold as he glared at him. His jaw tightened and he clenched his fists at his sides, but he couldn’t refute it.

It was true. They had never known the power of a Sixth Rank Beastman, let alone a fiercer and more formidable Sixth Rank Wandering Beast.

When hunting, Mi Yin had always maintained a casual, almost playful attitude, never revealing his true strength. Most of the ti, when he wasn’t clinging to An Jin, he was sleeping in a corner.

Worry filled An Jin’s eyes. "Then be careful. If you can’t handle them, co back. The tribe will have other Beastn to support you..."

Even as she said it, An Jin felt how feeble and powerless her comfort sounded. If even Mi Yin couldn’t defeat them, the other Beastn in the tribe would just beco a fine al for the Giant Beasts.

Not long after Mi Yin left, An Jin could vaguely see through the blurry, rain-streaked window that large swaths of the forest were being crushed by the dinosaurs. At the sa ti, however, their horde was gradually retreating.

’Did Mi Yin succeed?!’

Before anyone could rejoice, another disaster struck the tribe—many cubs and females had fallen ill, their stomachs aching so badly they felt like they were dying.
