Wang Weimin left the hospital but Mo Roulan and Chi Rong knew that they would have to manage Lin Qianru...especially when Mo Roulan told Chi Rong that Lin Qianru had seen her when she had gone inside the room after hearing her shouts.
"I am sorry, Dad. I should have been careful."
Chi Rong’s finger trembled when he heard Mo Roulan calling him Dad again. Just now, he had thought that she called him like that in front of Wang Weimin intentionally. He had not really expected her to continue calling him Dad.
Seeing her worry-filled eyes, he couldn’t help but pat her head in a fatherly manner as he said gently
"Don’t worry. I will handle your mother."
Chi Rong never dealt with children. He hadn’t even dealt with soone of Mo Roulan’s age before in his life. But this fatherly manner just ca from his insides when he heard Mo Roulan calling him Dad.
He felt sweet inside his heart. Did it not an that Mo Roulan had truly accepted him?
Unaware of his thoughts, Mo Roulan was still nervous so she asked Chi Rong to go inside and talk to her mother while she will stay outside.
Chi Rong had wanted to say that there was no such need.
They wanted to hide it before but since Lin Qianru had already seen Mo Roulan then there was no need to be so panicked as well.
As much as he knew Lin Qianru, she just didn’t want to upset Mo Roulan and Mo Chen. But she would be very happy to see Mo Roulan after so many days. Still, he didn’t force Mo Roulan and went inside the room alone.
As soon as left, Mo Roulan felt the phone in her hand ringing and imdiately slid the screen to answer the call.
It was He Jian. She had been trying to call him last night. She was disturbed and wanted to talk to him but her call didn’t connect.
It was very unusual ...especially when she didn’t even receive any ssage from him.
Finally, he was calling her.
"Lanlan!"
He Jian said as soon as the call connected.
"Is everything alright?"
Mo Roulan was slightly surprised to hear the question and said
"Yes. But why are asking this?"
On the other side of the phone, He Jian looked relieved when he heard her and said
"I saw Mo Chen’s missed calls. So I thought that sothing went wrong on your side."
Mo Roulan frowned when she heard this.
"Why would Chenchen call you?"
Mo Roulan asked the questions more likely to herself but He Jian who heard her said
"I don’t know but I couldn’t take it. The island on which I and my client are living has a very poor network. I might not be able to pick up your calls daily."
When He Jian said this, he was glaring at Chu Feng who lowered his head so much as if he was trying to bury himself sowhere.
He actually forgot to check this small detail that this island of He Corporation had a poor network and fixed all the etings with the foreign clients here. His boss had been very angry with him since then.
"Ohh..."
Mo Roulan whispered.
It finally made sense why he didn’t call her.
Both of them were silent for so ti and He Jian finally broke the silence and said
"Where are you now? In the office?"
Mo Roulan stiffened at the question. She actually didn’t call at the office at all and gave a reason for her absence.
"Actually I..."
Mo Roulan was about to tell He Jian that she was in New York when she suddenly heard a sound and looked at the phone.
The call was already disconnected.
She frowned as she tried to call him again, however, the call didn’t connect no matter how much she tried.
She sighed as she stopped trying.
It seed that she won’t be able to talk to him soon as He Jian had told her that he would need to stay at that island for a few days.
Though Mo Roulan was upset, she cheered herself up. It was good that she didn’t tell He Jian about her mother yet.
He would be worried for her and might co here. She shouldn’t disturb him when he was working.
Thinking this, Mo Roulan instead called her brother. She wanted to know why Mo Chen was calling He Jian.
"I wanted Brother Jian to do sothing so that Jiejie won’t have to go to New York."
The answer again made Mo Roulan sigh in relief. Fortunately, the call didn’t connect otherwise Mo Chen might have co to know that she had lied to him. Because she never ca here for business work and He Jian knew it very well.
But she had to ensure that Mo Chen would not do this again so she said
"Chenchen, you can’t do this. It is my work. How can you ask Mr. He to give only so selective work."
Mo Chen didn’t say anything in response. He was frowning deeply on the other side of the phone. He didn’t agree with his Jiejie.
Why did she have to go so far? It is not that he didn’t like her going out of the country, he was just worried as she had never gone so far away.
Mo Roulan could perhaps understand his worries so she said
"Don’t worry. You know when Dad ca to know that I am In New York. He imdiately sent soone to . Dad said that the man works for him but he would help with everything as long as I am in New York. I am also living in the villa that Dad has here."
Mo Chen heard everything silently but only said one word.
"Dad? You an Uncle Chen, Jiejie?"
Mo Roulan was surprised for a mont before she realized that she had actually got so used to of calling Chi Rong Dad and that too so fast.
"Yes"
She answered Mo Chen. Mo Chen said nothing after this.
Mo Roulan could understand. Her brother needed ti. They didn’t talk for long.
After comforting Mo Chen, Mo Roulan sighed in relief. However, her relief didn’t last for long as she saw Chi Rong stepping outside.
And his face didn’t look good.
