MAVERICK’S POV
I looked at my woman with a half-amused smile, and she looked at with such an adorable expression. She was already cute, and now that she was in her cat form, it almost felt like my heart was lting every ti I looked at her.
She was just too good to be true.
"Alpha maverick, Valencia had asked us to gather so information about the pendant that she has been wearing, which was given to her by the rogue head of the northern regions," Valencia’s man from the rogue side said.
I was surprised. I have seen the pendant she started wearing recently, but I didn’t know it was given to her by that man.
"Is that so?" I asked, my gaze averting to this naughty cat who quickly looked away and tucked her tail between her legs, probably caught off-guard.
"What about it?" I asked.
I will deal with this naughty girl later. First, I needed to act as her interpreter.
"That pendant indeed has royal significance, which probably explains why Prince Ethan went ballistic when he saw the pendant in her neck. As far as we have found out, the pendant is one of the heirlooms of the royalty," Theo said.
’Sothing that is given to the direct descendant of the family,’ I heard Valencia’s words in my mind, and I humd.
It was quite an exciting turn of events. Was there a chance that the natural heir of the royal kingdom was alive, and did the rogue head of the northern regions know him?
That could only explain why Prince Ethan had such a reaction. He probably feared the sa thing: the arrival of the real heir. Because when that happens, his significance would be next to nothing. Besides, with that kind of reaction, who knows if his family had a hand in what happened to the royalty in that historical rogue attack?
My mind started to form different theories, and I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard Valencia, who wanted to ask Theo if he found any witnesses who could relate or shed so light on what exactly happened in that rogue attack.
I asked Theo the question, but he said they were still looking into it.
Apart from the pendant, he also inford us about the final retreat of the rogues of the southern regions from the packs they were after, and I sighed in relief.
After everything that was going around us, at least that was a good piece of news.
"Is there anything else?" I asked, and I could feel Theo’s hesitation.
"Can you ask Miss Valencia if she wanted a report on soone she said was not to ntion," Theo asked, and I looked at Valencia with raised brows.
I could see she was hiding sothing from , and when she asked to cut the call, my suspicion strengthened even more.
"What are you hiding from , Valencia?" I asked her after ending the call.
I didn’t want any second person to hear what was happening between us.
Valencia shook her head.
’I asked them to look into what the hazel moon pack was up to, and since I hate that man, I asked him not to ntion his na before ,’ she said.
It was hard to believe what she was saying, but I had seen her hatred for that man and his pack and knew there could be so truth to it.
Not wanting to press the matter and annoy her more when she was already suffering like this, I sighed and lifted her in my arms.
She imdiately blinked her eyes in confusion, making smile.
"You need to drink so milk and eat healthy food to heal quickly," I told her.
She looked at with a wronged expression before telling what her wolf had told her, and I couldn’t help but furrow my brows.
A week was an extended period, but then again, her wolf was right in her place. This way, Valencia could rest appropriately without worrying about multiple things. Besides, it was easy to carry her around now without pacifying her.
I chuckled when I rembered how she had closed her legs and hidden behind the curtain when I took her inside the bathroom to help her bathe.
Heck, I have seen her naked body in her human form. What was she so shy for?
Valencia looked up, owing softly, probably wanting to know what I was smiling for.
"Well, I am just wondering how many boobs you have now that you are a cat? I an, as a human, you only got two," I wriggled my brows and couldn’t help but laugh when she shouted at through the mind link, calling a shaless jerk.
I shook my head at her as I passed by Greta and Liam.
"Ask Shadow to co and et ," I told Greta, who looked at weirdly before looking at the woman in my hands.
They bowed to and left without saying a word.

"Sotis, I wonder what has happened to our alpha. Have you ever imagined him holding a cute cat with such adoration and care?" I heard Great say after he reached so distance.
His words made look at my woman, and I smiled.
Well, what can I say? I had never guessed I would be able to find true love, this kind of epic love, in this lifeti, either.
Sotis, miracles do happen.
"You know I love you, right?" I asked Valencia, realizing she had fallen asleep in my hands, and sighed.

"Sir, you were right about it. Glacier has indeed started calling his army back. The move of the rogues finally retreating from the packs they were spread. It looks like part of it," Shadow reported, and I humd.
When Theo had reported to us about the new turnout of events, I knew sothing was wrong.
How could the rogues, actively opposing us for a month, leave just like that? There had to be sothing, and here it was.
"If Glacier is calling his people to gather in the southern regions, the chances that he is planning an attack are high. I have a strategy to eliminate so of the rogues, but it’s quite unethical, and we might get flagged as a pack," I said.
Shadow looked at Casper and Troy, who had left the office and left us alone.
"What is alpha?" Shadow asked.
I massaged my forehead.
"Well, you know that we have been practicing and trying so new weapons. I wondered if we could lead so tanks and air missiles there and kill the rogues. This way, the chances of them instigating a war would be lower," I said.
Shadow nodded, and I sighed.
"But that can’t be done. Many rogues in his team probably fight because they have no choice, and his family is slaving to the rogue head. I don’t want to end up telling more innocent lives. Valencia has made realize that the gift of life is bigger than taking. As an alpha, I can’t ignore a war, but at least I shouldn’t indulge in immoral ans," I said, taking a deep breath to think of sothing we could do or use.
Shadow stepped ahead and cleared his throat.
"Sir, I know you are not going to like my suggestion, but–" he paused.
"But what?" I asked, and he sighed.
"How about we ask your brother for so intel? He has been living in those rogue groups for so long, and he might be able to help us with–"
"Have you lost your mind? Are you asking to get help from that one person who had been collaborating and conspiring with those rogues to bring down? Do you think he would give us the right information?" I scoffed.
It wasn’t like that, and I don’t believe in redemption. Anyone can have a change of heart and choose the right path.
However, how can I forget those threatening ssages I received from him until a couple of months ago? It was okay if he had co after only, but how can I forget that he had threatened to harm any woman, too? That he had wanted to kill Valencia to break so he could take over the pack?
I will never forgive a man like this.
There was no path of salvation or redemption for him. He chose this for himself.
"I am sorry, sir. You are right. If he hates us, he will never give us the right kind of information or help us," Shadow said.
I caught up on how he had used the word if once again. I know he uses ’if’ because he sowhere thinks that there was sothing that I overlooked that night.
There were tis when I had that kind of thought, too, but then again, an innocent man will always try to prove his innocence. Why did Alfonso never try it? I was angry that night, but what about later?
If he could send threatening ssages, he could have collected evidence and sent the proof, too. But how could he do that when he wasn’t innocent?
I scoffed before sitting in my boss’s chair to review the treaty docunt.
