"Now what are you going to do?"
Kang Jinwook asked, observing Sunwoo lost in thought. Well, what should I do? Sunwoo pondered for a mont. Kang Jinwook’s words were quite a reasonable assumption. There was no good for Chairman Kang to find out.
It was a situation where he could just sit and have everything taken away from him. But then again... it wasn’t like it was my property to begin with, so does it matter? No, it doesn’t.
Sunwoo quickly shook his head. Normally, he had no desire for ownership, but he possessed an exceptional sense of responsibility. Therefore, a sense of resignation that would lead him to give up was not an option.
'More than anything, it’s disgusting, right? It’s obvious that he’s trying to scam soone who has no idea what’s going on. I can’t just quietly accept it.'
Of course, he had concealed his submissive Oga traits when he made the contract, so in a way, he was no different from Kang Jinwook. Still, he didn’t want things to be exposed like this.
But before anything else, there was sothing Sunwoo had to understand. He raised his gaze from the table and t Kang Jinwook’s eyes.
"Why are you saying this to ?"
Strictly speaking, Kang Jinwook wasn’t on Sunwoo’s side.
Wasn’t he the son of Chairman Kang?
But thinking about what Kang Jinwook had said up to this point, it sohow seed like he prioritized Sunwoo over his father. That was why Sunwoo couldn’t help but ask.
What was the intention behind suddenly throwing a contract at
when I didn’t even know it existed?
"..."
Strangely enough, Kang Jinwook hesitated to answer. It seed like he was about to say sothing, opening and closing his lips as if deciding.
Why is he acting like that, it doesn’t suit him.
As a result, Sunwoo found himself paying more attention to Kang Jinwook’s face and eyes. What was he going to say? What expression was he making?
And then, Sunwoo realized sothing. Kang Jinwook had been focused on him this whole ti.
"Are you, by any chance, doing this because you’re worried about ?"
Sunwoo asked with so suspicion. It really seed impossible, but sohow, the expression Kang Jinwook had, the way he spoke, made it seem like that was the case.
Honestly, when the contract was first presented, Sunwoo had been angry, thinking that Kang Jinwook was trying to threaten him.
"I’ll say it again, Chairman Kang is cunning and vile. If he finds out you’ve broken the contract, he’ll take more from you than he originally wanted. Also, if he realizes you don’t rember, he’ll take everything you have."
Kang Jinwook calmly explained what Sunwoo would have to face. Because of that, Sunwoo didn’t think Kang Jinwook was deliberately avoiding giving a direct answer.
Yes, Chairman Kang did have that character.
The description of Chairman Kang was that he was a heartless, cold-blooded person who would do anything to get what he wanted. He didn’t even hesitate to treat his children as pawns for his own benefit.
Growing up under such a father, it made sense that Kang Jinwook’s personality turned out this way. It was probably thanks to his mother’s efforts that he was socialized to this extent.
After hesitating for a long ti, Sunwoo finally spoke.
"Shut up."
But even as he spoke, he didn’t feel confident that Kang Jinwook would listen.
Honestly, even if he questioned Kang Jinwook about why he had done this with the contract, there was nothing to say. Also, even if he imdiately exposed his lie to Chairman Kang, there would be nothing to say in that situation either.
Sunwoo couldn’t bring himself to make eye contact with Kang Jinwook and instead quietly looked down at the table. The longer Kang Jinwook remained silent, the more Sunwoo started to give up and think, 'Yeah, that’s how it is.'
After all, he had deceived him about being an Oga, and he was even mistakenly thought to be pregnant with soone else's child, so there was no way he could keep quiet.
The words Kang Jinwook had said before, about Sunwoo moving his body recklessly, flashed through Sunwoo’s mind again. Though it wasn’t about him, the thought still made his stomach churn, so Sunwoo lightly rubbed his belly.
Right now, Sunwoo had no power to deal with Chairman Kang. The only help he could get was from Kang Jinwook, but with the things he had done, would Kang Jinwook really keep quiet?
So, now what? Should he et with a representative? Or should he find a lawyer?
As he waited for Kang Jinwook’s response, Sunwoo’s mind beca even more complicated.
"The condition?"
At that mont, Kang Jinwook’s question reached his ears.
"Uh?"
Sunwoo quickly raised his head. Was Kang Jinwook still staring at him? Their eyes t imdiately.
"The condition for you to shut up."
"Uh..."
Sunwoo hadn’t even thought about that. He hadn’t expected Kang Jinwook to grant his request, so there was no way he could consider terms.
Sunwoo kept muttering "uh, uh," with a dumbfounded expression, unable to co up with anything appropriate.
No, in fact, he didn’t even have the ntal space to think. His mind was completely occupied with how to get out of this situation.
Seeing that Sunwoo was just making complicated faces and not speaking, Kang Jinwook opened his mouth first.
"I’ll give you a day to think about it, so think it over and contact . It should be sothing I find satisfactory. If not, I’ll suggest sothing from my side."
Sunwoo was a little surprised. Based on Kang Jinwook’s personality, he had thought that if Sunwoo said nothing, Kang Jinwook would unilaterally present terms that were favorable to him.
But now Kang Jinwook was giving him a day.
"Then should we get up?"
Even more surprisingly, Kang Jinwook, as if his business was done, started packing up first. Sunwoo, caught off guard, stood up and followed Kang Jinwook out of the room.
Before long, the night in Jeju had deepened. Kang Jinwook dropped Sunwoo off in front of his house and imdiately headed for the flight back to Seoul.
As soon as the plane ca to a stop, Kang Jinwook didn’t even wait for the announcent and imdiately moved. Walking quickly through the now quieter airport, he soon erged from the gate, where the humid air hit him.
After Jeju, it seed that Seoul was also quite humid, having rained earlier. Kang Jinwook furrowed his brows and looked at the road. The car was already waiting for him.
The driver, who had been sitting in the front seat, quickly noticed Kang Jinwook and hurriedly got out of the car. It seed he was about to open the door for Kang Jinwook, but before he could, Kang Jinwook pulled the handle himself.
Just as Kang Jinwook was about to enter the backseat, he suddenly paused. A distant mory resurfaced. It wasn’t such a great day back then.
No, more precisely, Kang Jinwook’s condition had been off. The signs of an early rut were showing, and he had been stuck in an unwanted drinking session that dragged on.
Normally, he wouldn’t have shown any sign of discomfort, but even Kang Jinwook couldn’t control his rut. Physically, he was nearing his limits.
The car, which had arrived after receiving a late call. The driver was waiting to open the door, but Kang Jinwook didn’t wait and opened it himself.
Then, the faintest trace of an Oga’s pheromones hit him. The subtle scent could have co from either the inside of the car or outside, but Kang Jinwook’s focus had already started to wane.
However, nothing inside seed to be the source of the pheromone, so Kang Jinwook turned his head, scanning around. He found an Oga not far off. Naturally, he assud the pheromone ca from them.
But the Oga’s scent he had slled earlier was completely different from the one he encountered that day. A sweet, yet simply ordinary scent.
The scent from that day, it was...
"Executive Director."
Just as Kang Jinwook stood in front of the car, lost in thought, his assistant, Secretary Gwak, carefully called his na. Kang Jinwook seed to be in deep thought, and the location wasn’t ideal for such musings.
Fortunately, Kang Jinwook snapped out of it and imdiately got into the car. Secretary Gwak quickly followed and got into the passenger seat.
The car soon started moving. Secretary Gwak greeted the traffic officer outside with a nod and then observed Kang Jinwook’s expression in the rearview mirror.
When Kang Jinwook t with Sunwoo, he had instructed all his guards, including Secretary Gwak, to stay away.
They had only spoken alone in the restaurant. So, it was unclear exactly what was said.
However, based on the atmosphere before they went to Jeju, things didn’t seem all that good. It was even surprising that Kang Jinwook hadn’t ended his relationship with Sunwoo imdiately.
The fact that Sunwoo was actually an Oga, and even pregnant, had been a real shock to Secretary Gwak. Why had he been lying all this ti, and when had this happened?
Secretary Gwak had always thought Sunwoo was the busiest person while working as an assistant. It was Secretary Gwak who made that happen under Kang Jinwook’s orders.
Although shocked to learn the truth, Secretary Gwak considered it fortunate. After all, he saw this as an opportunity to eliminate Sunwoo, who had always been an irritant.
"Secretary Gwak."
Hearing his na, Secretary Gwak snapped out of his thoughts and quickly refocused.
"Yes, Executive Director."
"Who was the Oga you sent to the hotel during the last rut?"
Secretary Gwak quickly scrambled to recall. Kang Jinwook’s rut happened twice a year. It was usually pretty on schedule, but this year, the first rut had co a bit early.
Since that rarely happened, Secretary Gwak was slower to react than usual. Wait a minute… Was he slow? Sothing... had been different, hadn’t it?
What was different?
"Uh…?"
As he pondered, Secretary Gwak suddenly rembered and gave a slightly confused look.
"Now that you ntion it, I did receive a call a few days after that."
"A call?"
"Yes. From the Oga we sent to the hotel."
"Why?"
"Excuse ?"
"Why did they call?"
"Ah! Yes, on the way to the hotel, they received an urgent call and had to turn back. Fortunately, there was another replacent available, so they asked us to cover for them..."
"Replacent?"
Secretary Gwak looked nervously at Kang Jinwook’s reflection in the rearview mirror. It felt strange to be asked about sothing from so long ago.
Well, it’s true that Kang Jinwook was persistent, and when he found sothing, he’d ask. But Secretary Gwak was about to respond when Kang Jinwook's cold question ca first.
"You didn’t report this to ?"
Secretary Gwak was montarily stunned.
When the Oga had called, Secretary Gwak had certainly reported it to Kang Jinwook. But Kang Jinwook hadn’t seed to care much about the matter at the ti, nor did he show any interest in who the Oga was.
If there had been a problem afterward, it would have been brought up, but nothing ca of it, so Secretary Gwak had forgotten about it.
But why bring it up now...?
Just then, Kang Jinwook gave an order.
"Find out who it was."
