Without hesitation, Wang Changguo turned towards the elevator. The booth was parked on the basent first floor, but as Wang Changguo pressed the button, the elevator began to move upwards. It stopped when it reached Wang Changguo’s floor. Then, the door slowly opened. The booth was empty.
Wang Changguo gritted his teeth and walked in. With trembling fingers, he pressed the button for the basent first floor. That’s right. He wished to go there to find Jiang Cheng’s group. What Kui Yi ntioned was slowly becoming true. Wang Changguo recalled the man saying that the ghost normally killed only one person at a ti. In other words, Jiang Cheng’s group wouldn’t be wiped out instantly.
However, they were trapped underground for so reason. Wang Changguo ca to this decision after so thought. Instead of dying to the ghost in the stairwell, he’d take this risk.
“Please God. If I survive this… I… will stop scamming the elderly!” Wang Changguo swore in his heart. “I swear to you!” Perhaps God was listening because the elevator worked perfectly. Soon, it reached the destination. As the door opened, the chill rolled in. The air carried a strange sll. He believed it was the drugs used to preserve the bodies.
Wang Changguo swallowed nervously as he exited the elevator. The corridor was quite clean. The doors on the sides didn’t have any labels. He had no idea what they were for. They were probably related to corpses.
Strange friction ca from the end of the corridor. It sounded like sothing dragging on the ground. There were occasional tallic collisions. Everything sounded chaotic. Wang Changguo didn’t see Jiang Cheng’s group. He assud they were in the direction from which the sounds ca. He moved silently towards the end of the corridor. Soon, he saw the direction to the morgue. Even though he was prepared, his body still shivered.
He was too focused on the direction ahead that he didn’t notice a closed door behind him open a gap. Three pairs of eyes blinked as they watched Wang Changguo walk by.
“What?” Cao Yang whispered, “It’s Wang Changguo, that coward. Why would he be here alone?”
“Could that be a ghost?” Yu Yu answered, “He’s too cowardly to co here alone. He must be a ghost.”
“Yes. Plus, we haven’t returned for so long. The people upstairs must know that sothing has happened to us. Wang Changguo is so cunning. He wouldn’t risk his life to co save us.” Cao Yang agreed. “If anything, he’d be dragged here by the others.”
“This is bad. We’re trapped here.” Yu Yu curled up. “There’s a ghost in the morgue, and now there’s another in the corridor.” Yu Yu was frightened. The sound in the morgue spooked her. As she turned, she saw the elevator move upstairs. She noticed the elevator stopped at the fourth floor before coming back down. The elevator must have carried sothing. As for whether the passenger was a human, it was hard to say.
Jiang Cheng instantly had them hide inside a nearby room. They had been hiding since then. To their surprise, when the elevator door opened, it was Wang Changguo who sneaked out.
“Unlikely.” Jiang Cheng suddenly announced, “That should be the real Wang Changguo.”
Cao Yang turned to him with widened eyes. “Are you sure?”
“I’m not, but I know that if we allow him to release the thing inside the morgue, the situation will beco worse for us.” Jiang Cheng told Cao Yang.
“Mr Jiang is right.” Yu Yu nodded. “If Wang Changguo is a ghost, we only need to deal with one of them. If he opens the morgue door, it’ll be bad!”
Cao Yang didn’t hesitate. He knew they had to do sothing. Using the weak light from the gap, he looked around the room. The place was dark. He didn’t dare to open the flashlight. This appeared to be the room to store the machines. Not far from Cao Yang was a cart. It had three levels. From Cao Yang’s angle, he could only see a few strange-looking tallic machines on the top layer. He walked over and picked up a short staff. When he held it, he realised it was lighter than he assud. It should be hollow. Jiang Cheng didn’t move because he didn’t need it. If the man were the real Wang Changguo, Jiang Cheng could easily detain him. If this were a ghost… then a normal weapon ant nothing. He didn’t stop Cao Yang because he didn’t want to ruin his mood. People needed hope to survive.
And he…
Jiang Cheng lowered his head to study the flickering door in his palm. His eyes flashed with viciousness. If this were a ghost… He had to mobilise the door's power. Or rather, Wu’s power. From Wu’s performance, a normal ghost wouldn’t do anything to him. However, Jiang Cheng knew that there were prices to pay. The price of opening the door was very high.
He knew that Wu was after sothing. It should be more than just his physique. It might be sothing deeper inside his soul.
“Brother Jiang.” Cao Yang waved the staff, and his eyes glinted dangerously.
“He’s about to reach the morgue.” Yu Yu had been paying attention outside the door. Wang Changguo had gotten very close to the morgue. Jiang Cheng nodded at the two. Then, he yanked the door open and ran out.
However, they didn’t move toward Wang Changguo, but toward the elevator. Thankfully, the elevator was still parked there. Why would they accost a potential ghost when they could escape?
They pressed the button, and the doors slowly opened. Jiang Cheng’s group rushed in, and Yu Yu pressed the button to close the door madly.
However, there was still an accident.
The elevator doors refused to budge.
The scary thing was that Wang Changguo had also reacted. He turned and ran towards the elevator.
Hearing the man’s hurried footsteps, Yu Yu’s face paled.
