It didn’t seem like they were going to escape. Jiang Cheng shouted, “Don’t gather inside the elevator!” Then, he ran out. Cao Yang gritted his teeth and followed Jiang Cheng. Yu Yu was startled. She eventually reacted. The situation was chaotic.

Wang Changguo sighed in relief when he saw Jiang Cheng’s group. He was like an orphan finding a ho. He said excitedly, “I finally found you…”

As Wang Changguo ran towards Jiang Cheng, the latter sped up. Then, Wang Changguo watched as Jiang Cheng raised his leg. The kick sent Wang Changguo flying. He almost died. Wang Changguo’s brain buzzed as he fell on the ground. He was seeing doubles. Before he could react, Cao Yang ran over and beat him with the stick. Unlike Jiang Cheng, Cao Yang didn’t hold back. Thankfully, the stick wasn’t the hardest, or Wang Changguo wouldn’t have had the chance to speak.

“Stop… Hitting !” Wang Changguo hugged his head and rolled on the floor. “I’m Wang Changguo! Ouch!” Cao Yang kicked the man’s face, causing him to swallow his words. “I’m… Human!” Wang Changguo pleaded.

At first, Cao Yang was running on adrenaline. He normally wouldn’t fight a ghost head-on. Now that he had cald down, he noticed sothing was wrong. Wang Changguo’s head was bleeding, and he kept begging. He looked sad. Cao Yang didn’t know how a ghost would act, but he believed they wouldn’t be like this.

Cao Yang put away the staff awkwardly. He probably got it wrong. What could he do? He couldn’t possibly let Wang Changguo hit him back, right? Plus, why was the man wandering there alone?

“What happened?” Jiang Cheng pulled Wang Changguo up by his collar. “Why did you co down here alone? What happened up there?”

If nothing happened, Wang Changguo wouldn’t have taken the elevator from the fourth floor to co underground. Before they left, Jiang Cheng rembered they were on the second floor.

“The ghost ca.” Wang Changguo choked through his blood.

“Be clearer!” Yu Yu was anxious.

Wang Changguo touched his lips. They felt like sausages, and they were burning. A few of his teeth were loose.

Jiang Cheng sighed upon hearing Wang Changguo. Lin Wan ‘Er was temporary fine. However, they couldn’t delay this much longer. After the ghost killed Weiwei, it would go for them or Lin Wan ‘Er and Kui Yi. The possibility of later was high.

CREAK

Another sound ca from the morgue. Compared to before, those things beca more active.

“What… was that?” Wang Changguo gasped. Earlier, he assud Jiang Cheng’s group made those sounds, but he was wrong. Sothing was inside the morgue… he was reminded of what the old man said about the walking corpses…

“We need to leave.” Jiang Cheng didn’t want to stay there. He was worried about Lin Wan ‘Er. She was clever, but she had no experience. Seeing how pitiable Wang Changguo was, Cao Yang offered him a hand.

Jiang Cheng turned and left. The four entered the elevator. Yu Yu pressed the button. The elevator moved slightly before pausing again. The elevator looked fine. However, it wouldn’t start for so reason.

“What… is going on?” Wang Changguo was hunched over. His chest hurt. Cao Yang’s beating was fine, but Jiang Cheng’s kick to his chest was still hurting. Yu Yu shivered. Her eyes stared at the panel. A sentence in red rolled by.

The elevator is overloaded…

The elevator might be custom-made, so it didn’t ring even though it was overloaded, or else… things might be more exciting.

Wang Changguo also saw the warning. He didn’t know the weight limit, but it shouldn’t be so low. Including him, there were only four people. And they were not overweight. Yu Yu was thin, and Cao Yang was muscular.

At the sa ti, Jiang Cheng realised that the surroundings had suddenly beco very quiet. The sounds from the morgue… disappeared.

The chill spread inside the elevator. Cao Yang swallowed nervously. Yu Yu swayed. Sothing was with them in the elevator. And there were a lot of them. They couldn’t just stand there. Jiang Cheng was the leader. Yu Yu wanted to turn around to ask for his opinion. However, before she could do that, a hand landed on her head. For a mont, Yu Yu wanted to scream, but the hand patted her gently. The hand was warm. Yu Yu knew it was Jiang Cheng. He was standing behind her. It looked like he wanted to stop her from turning around.

As for why…

Yu Yu glanced at the elevator wall from the corner of her eye. The walls were made of stainless steel. They were nothing special. There were scratch marks from the years of usage. However, she observed reflections on them. Yu Yu noticed that, inside the elevator, behind Jiang Cheng, there were many people. She couldn’t see their faces clearly. Their faces were veiled in a mist. However, she recognised their outfits!

They wore scrubs… similar to those worn by the ‘people’ at the morgue!

Yu Yu pressed her lips. She didn’t dare to make a sound. Jiang Cheng was worried that she’d be scared, so he stopped her from turning around. Cao Yang didn’t look any better. His body was frozen. He purposely avoided looking at the walls. Clearly, he saw them too.

“It’s overloaded.” Jiang Cheng’s voice began. He was very calm. Wang Changguo wanted to cry. He was not blind. Everyone knew that it was overloaded, but how to solve this problem?

The other ‘people’ inside the elevator… Didn’t look so anable.

They might be angry if they were asked to leave the elevator.

Perhaps he had the door; Jiang Cheng’s senses were sharper than the others. He could feel those things growing impatient. The chill intensified. The elevator felt like a large morgue fridge. Jiang Cheng slowly lifted his leg and kicked Wang Changguo out.

Wang Changguo landed on the floor with his face. “Ouch!”

“Since it’s overloaded, naturally the last one to get on has to leave!” Jiang Cheng shouted, “Why would you make us wait for so long?! How rude!” Then, the door closed.

When the warmth returned, Jiang Cheng’s heart relaxed.

Thankfully, everyone was quite reasonable.
