With a single Kun Sha Seal, Fang Zhen annihilated over ninety percent of the phantoms within the Soul Cloud.
He was even a little surprised by how effective it was.
But this didn't affect his reaction speed.
He swept his long spear, whipping up a wave of fire that engulfed the remaining phantoms and burned them to cinders.
In seven or eight seconds, all one hundred fifty-plus phantoms were successfully 'purified'.
At that mont, the Night Domain trapping the Gatekeeper dissipated. The Crystal Bone Crow flew out, and the Gatekeeper within reappeared.
The Gatekeeper looked around, a bit stunned.
'Where are the souls?'
'The phantoms?'
'Where did they go?'
The black orbs of light entwined around the Forbidden Realm Gatekeeper also grew sparse and dim, then naturally vanished after a second or two.
Fang Zhen confird his judgnt had been correct.
'So the Nether Shield really was on a tir.'
The Gatekeeper had intended to use its shield to coordinate a physical assault with the phantoms, a two-pronged magical and martial attack. But it had been trapped, and by the ti it erged, the phantoms were gone and its shield had vanished.
How awkward.
The Gatekeeper recovered in a mont and suddenly pointed a finger at Fang Zhen.
Suddenly, several masses of black energy appeared and began to circle around Fang Zhen.
He was alard, thinking he'd been hit.
But after a mont's observation, he found nothing wrong. Neither his Death Aversion nor his Super-sensory Premonition had been triggered.
'What is this?'
'What kind of skill is this? It's not dangerous, but I was still hit?'
A mont later, an idea flashed through Fang Zhen's mind.
He sensed that the black energy couldn't penetrate his body, but it was filled with malicious intent. It was constantly looking for a way to break in and wreak havoc, but simply hadn't found an opening.
Fang Zhen had a sudden realization. It was a debuff that increased damage taken.
It wouldn't matter if he remained unhard, but if he got injured, the black energy would likely attack continuously, worsening the wound.
So it was a skill that did nothing if he wasn't hurt, but amplified damage if he was.
Once he understood, Fang Zhen didn't worry too much about it.
'I just need to be careful not to get hurt.'
After casting this skill, the Forbidden Realm Gatekeeper suddenly slamd its weapon into the ground and let out a desolate, primal cry.
Instantly, Fang Zhen felt the temperature in the area drop by another two or three degrees.
At the sa ti, the entire space turned a hazy gray. The fog grew heavier, and black energy swirled around, creating an aura of death.
Fang Zhen could feel his stamina, Spirit, and even his source energy slowly draining away.
"A Domain?!"
He imdiately realized what this was.
'The Gatekeeper used its ultimate?'
anwhile, the Forbidden Realm Gatekeeper seed to grow even larger. Its speed, strength, and agility were all apparently boosted as it charged toward Fang Zhen.
Fang Zhen took a deep breath.
He suddenly raised his left hand.
A green light flashed from his left hand.
A second later, while the Forbidden Realm Gatekeeper was still three or four ters from Fang Zhen, green thorns suddenly sprouted from its body, rapidly binding it.
Thorn Ring!
Fang Zhen had released the Magic Thorns, but he knew they wouldn't hold the Gatekeeper for long.
The Gatekeeper's strength stat was too high, and with the boost from its domain, it would break free from the thorns even more quickly.
Wielding his long spear, Fang Zhen used Assassination Step footwork to circle to the Gatekeeper's flank in just two steps.
A white light flashed from his spear as he unleashed the Power Mountain Seal.
The spear, wreathed in Magic Fla, stabbed fiercely, aiming for the Gatekeeper's brain.
Bound by the thorns, the Gatekeeper could neither block nor dodge.
With a sickening crunch, the long spear pierced into the Gatekeeper's head.
The Gatekeeper let out a terrible scream.
Fang Zhen's spirits lifted.
'The Forbidden Realm Gatekeeper isn't without weaknesses. It has one, and only one.'
'Its brain.'
'If its brain is injured, the Gatekeeper will fall.'
However, the Forbidden Realm Gatekeeper's skull was surprisingly hard. The spear thrust, empowered by the Power Mountain Seal, could pierce a concrete wall, yet Fang Zhen had only managed to drive it a little over an inch into the Gatekeeper's head before it got stuck.
'With a skull this hard, I doubt even a handgun bullet could penetrate it.'
He tried to force it deeper, but it was no use. The spear was stuck fast.
Just then, with its imnse strength, the Gatekeeper broke free of the Magic Thorns prematurely.
Now even more frenzied, the Gatekeeper lunged at Fang Zhen.
Fang Zhen quickly retreated.
Just then, an idea for a new tactic flashed through his mind.
With his left hand, Fang Zhen suddenly drew the Desert Viper Handgun from the holster on his right side.
Having learned its lesson, the Gatekeeper imdiately used its weapon to block its face and head.
But that wasn't Fang Zhen's target at all.
Wielding the handgun, Fang Zhen aid at the Gatekeeper's left knee and fired relentlessly.
Even shooting with his left hand, he wouldn't miss at this range.
The Desert Viper fired in rapid succession.
"BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG...!"
The Desert Viper's low recoil and sensitive trigger were now on full display.
In two or three seconds, Fang Zhen emptied the magazine.
The Forbidden Realm Gatekeeper had expected him to shoot for its face, so it only defended its head and failed to react in ti.
By the ti the Gatekeeper realized what was happening, its left kneecap had been riddled with bullets.
The Gatekeeper tried to step forward, but there was a sharp CRACK. Its bullet-riddled kneecap, unable to support the weight of its massive body, shattered completely. The sound was sickeningly clear.
The Gatekeeper let out a pained groan and fell to the ground.
Seeing this, Fang Zhen felt a rush of satisfaction.
'Even if the Gatekeeper doesn't have the sa fatal weaknesses as a human, our anatomy is still similar—at least physically.'
'With a shattered knee, this boss's mobility is shot.'
Fang Zhen put so distance between himself and the Gatekeeper, wary of any strange abilities it might unleash.
