Chapter 64: Chapter

Fu Tong, Fu Teng, and Fu Sheng continued moving toward Fu Fong.

Their steps were slow but steady.

Each step seed heavier than the last, and the pressure in the air grew thicker. The watching exiles had completely stopped what they were doing. So even stood on their toes to see better.

Fu Fong kept backing away.

His earlier arrogance had completely disappeared.

"What are you doing?!" he shouted again, his voice no longer as confident as before. "Stay away from !"

But the three n did not stop.

Fu Tong stretched his shoulders lazily as he walked.

"Brother Fong," he said casually, "why are you so nervous?"

Fu Teng nodded slightly beside him.

"You were the one who said discipline is important."

Fu Sheng didn’t speak. His expression remained calm, but his gaze was cold and firm.

Fu Fong’s back soon hit a cart behind him.

He had nowhere left to go.

His eyes darted around desperately, looking for soone, anyone to help him.

His gaze landed on the guards.

The head guard stood a short distance away with his n. His arms were crossed as he watched the scene unfold.

Their eyes t for a mont.

Fu Fong quickly shouted, "Head Guard! Aren’t you going to stop this?!"

But the head guard didn’t move, His expression didn’t change in the slightest.

If anyone could read his mind, they would know that he didn’t like Fu Fong at all. In fact, he found the man arrogant and troubleso from the very beginning.

So he simply stood there.

Unbothered.

As if the scene had nothing to do with him.

Seeing that the guards were not going to help him, Fu Fong’s face turned even paler.

Behind , I quietly watched everything with my arms folded.

Then suddenly—

"Stop!"

A soft, trembling voice suddenly rang out.

Everyone turned.

Li Manman rushed forward and stood directly in front of Fu Fong.

Tears had already begun forming in her eyes.

She spread her arms slightly as if trying to protect him.

"Please stop!" she cried.

Fu Tong, Fu Teng, and even Fu Sheng slowed their steps slightly.

Li Manman looked at them pitifully, her tears finally sliding down her cheeks.

"This is all my fault," she said weakly. "If soone must be punished... then punish

instead."

She sniffed softly and lowered her head.

"I am willing to take the punishnt on Young Master Fu Fong’s behalf."

Her voice trembled as if she was making a great sacrifice.

The crowd murmured again.

Fu Tong frowned slightly and slowed his steps.

Fu Teng also stopped walking.

Even Fu Sheng paused.

I watched the scene quietly for a second.

Then I rolled my eyes.

My arms remained crossed as I leaned my weight slightly to one side.

Of course.

Li Manman would step in now.

Always appearing at the perfect mont... always pretending to sacrifice herself.

The act was so obvious that it almost bored .

I let out a small breath through my nose.

"Wow," I said dryly.

My voice wasn’t loud, but it carried clearly through the silent crowd.

"What a touching scene."

Li Manman’s crying paused for a brief second.

I tilted my head slightly, looking straight at her.

"You’re going to take the punishnt for him?" I asked calmly.

My lips curved into a small, amused smile.

"That’s very noble of you."

Then I slowly uncrossed my arms.

"But tell

sothing, Li Manman."

My eyes grew colder.

"When he was raising his hand to hit Bai Ming earlier..."

I paused slightly.

"Were you planning to take that slap for her too?"

Li Manman froze.

Her lips trembled, but no words ca out.

The crowd around us beca restless again. So people whispered, clearly seeing through her act now.

I chuckled softly.

"Since you are so willing to sacrifice yourself," I continued, my tone almost playful, "then I won’t stop you."

Li Manman lifted her head slowly, confusion flashing in her eyes.

"What... what do you an?"

I turned slightly.

My gaze landed on Bai Ming.

"Bai Ming."

She stiffened when I called her na.

For a mont, she didn’t move. Her eyes slowly shifted between Fu Fong and Li Manman.

The hatred and pain in her expression were impossible to hide.

I gestured toward Li Manman.

"If she insists on taking the punishnt for him," I said calmly, "then whatever you want to do to her... you can do it."

The words fell like a stone into still water.

Gasps spread through the crowd.

Li Manman’s eyes widened instantly.

"What?!" she cried out, panic flashing across her face.

But before Bai Ming could even respond—

Fu Fong suddenly stepped forward.

His voice ca out sharp and threatening.

"Bai Ming."

Everyone turned toward him.

His face was tense, and although there was a hint of fear in his eyes, his usual cruel arrogance still remained.

"If you say anything or hurt her..." he said coldly, pointing at Li Manman, "I’ll kill you."

The threat hung heavily in the air.

For a mont, everything went quiet.

Then,

Sothing inside Bai Ming finally snapped.

The anger she had been holding in for so long burst out all at once.

Her eyes turned red as she stared at Fu Fong.

"You’ll kill ?" she shouted.

Her voice trembled with fury and heartbreak.

"You’ll kill your own wife... for her?"

She laughed bitterly, the sound full of pain.

Then she pointed straight at Li Manman.

"If you love her so much... if you respect her more than your own wife—"

Her voice rose louder.

"Then marry her instead!"

The crowd gasped again.

Bai Ming’s chest rose and fell quickly, years of resentnt pouring out of her words.

"From today onward," she shouted, her voice shaking but firm, "I want nothing to do with you!"

She looked at Fu Fong with nothing but hatred now.

"And not just you."

Her gaze swept across Aunt Fu, Fu Jia, and the rest of them.

"Your entire family!"

The road fell completely silent.

Even the wind seed to stop.

Fu Fong stood there stiffly, clearly not expecting her to say sothing like that in front of everyone.

anwhile, Li Manman looked even more panicked now, her earlier "bravery" completely gone.

I watched the scene quietly.

Then a slow smile appeared on my face.

Well...

This had just beco far more interesting.

"Ah! You heard her... your punishnt is that today you are you to wed Fu Fong Im front of every single one of us." I announced as gasps filled everywhere.

Even Fu Sheng looked surprised but I could also see a mischievous smile build up on his lips.

"Looks like sister-in-law is ready for Li Manman." Fu Teng whispered to his siblings.

"Don’t even get

started on the fact that she tags ’marrying Fu Fong’ as a punishnt." Fu Li as the four of them burst into laughter.

"Y-you... what do you an by that?" Aunt Fu shouted, her face turning red with anger as she nudged her husband.

Uncle Fu finally stepped forward, his brows tightly furrowed as he looked at .

"What nonsense are you saying?" he said sternly. "Marriage is not a joke. How can you casually decide such a thing in front of everyone?"

I looked at him calmly.

"Oh?" I said lightly. "But didn’t your son just threaten to kill his own wife for this maid?"

My eyes shifted toward Fu Fong and Li Manman.

"If that isn’t love, then what is?"

A few people in the crowd suddenly laughed.

Uncle Fu’s face stiffened.

I continued speaking slowly, making sure every word was clear.

"Bai Ming already said she wants nothing to do with him anymore."

I gestured toward Li Manman.

"And this one just said she’s willing to suffer punishnt for him."

I spread my hands slightly.

"So I’m simply helping them both."

The crowd burst into louder murmurs.

"Wait... that actually makes sense."

"If he protects the maid more than his wife, why not just marry her?"

"Exactly. That poor wife should leave him."

Li Manman’s face turned completely pale.

"N-no... that’s not what I ant!" she stamred quickly, waving her hands in panic.

"I never said I wanted to marry Young Master Fu Fong!"

Fu Tong suddenly laughed loudly.

"But you were just protecting him like your life depended on it," he said teasingly.

Fu Teng nodded thoughtfully.

"You even offered to take punishnt for him. That’s deeper loyalty than most wives show."

Fu Li covered her mouth while giggling.

"Sister-in-law really knows how to solve problems."

Fu Fei leaned closer to her siblings and whispered, "Honestly... marrying him really does sound like punishnt."

The four of them nearly burst out laughing again.

anwhile, Fu Fong’s face had turned extrely ugly.

"You’re insane!" he snapped at

angrily. "Who do you think you are to decide my marriage?!"

I raised an eyebrow.

"Oh? But earlier you said Bai Ming doesn’t deserve to bear your na."

My voice remained calm.

"So what’s the problem now?"

I tilted my head slightly.

"Unless... you only want the maid’s loyalty but not the responsibility?"

The words landed sharply

Several people in the crowd nodded knowingly.

Fu Fong clenched his fists.

"You—!"

Before he could continue, Bai Ming suddenly laughed again.

But this ti the laughter sounded different.

"Actually," she said slowly, wiping the corner of her eye, "I think Sister-in-law Su Long is right."

Everyone turned toward her.

Bai Ming looked straight at Fu Fong.

"If you love her so much," she said, pointing at Li Manman again, "then marry her."

Her voice was steady now.

"I’m tired."

For the first ti since the argunt began, she looked relieved.

"I don’t want a husband who threatens to kill

just to protect another woman."

Fu Fong’s expression finally cracked.

"Bai Ming—"

But she raised her hand to stop him.

"No."

Her eyes were completely cold now.

"You made your choice already."

Then she stepped back.

And in that mont, everyone clearly saw it

Bai Ming had completely given up on him.

Behind , I heard a quiet chuckle.

I glanced sideways.

Fu Sheng.

He was watching everything with a faint smile on his lips.

Then he leaned slightly closer to

and murmured under his breath,

"My wife..."

His tone carried clear amusent.

"...you really enjoy setting fires, don’t you?"

I smiled faintly without looking at him.

Well,

If people insist on creating drama...

I might as well make it unforgettable.
