Chapter 65: Chapter

Li Manman stood frozen in the middle of the road.

All eyes were on her.

Her fingers twisted nervously in the sleeves of her clothes as the whispers around her grew louder and louder.

Marry Fu Fong?

The words kept echoing in her head.

Inside, her thoughts were in complete chaos.

How did things turn out like this...?

She had only stepped forward to protect him, thinking it would make her look kind and loyal in front of everyone. It had always worked before.

Whenever she cried or acted pitiful, soone would step in to defend her, in her past life it always worked

But this ti...

Things had completely slipped out of her control.

Her gaze slowly moved toward Fu Fong.

The man she had been trying to cling to.

But even as she looked at him now, a wave of irritation rose inside her.

Marry him?

She almost wanted to laugh.

Yes, she wanted to take him away from Bai Ming. She wanted to use him to get closer to Fu Sheng and deal with Su Long once and for all But that didn’t an she actually wanted to marry Fu Fong.

Everyone in the Fu family knew what kind of man he was.

Arrogant, Cruel, Selfish.

He shouted, threatened, and even raised his hand against his own wife in public without hesitation.

If he could treat Bai Ming like that, how long would it take before he treated her the sa way?

Li Manman clenched her fists slightly.

That man is a complete scum, she thought bitterly.

Why would she tie her life to soone like him?

She only wanted his protection and favour unless she would keep on being treated as a maid and will be insulted and looked down upon by the whole family especially Su Long.

But now the entire road was staring at her, waiting for her answer.

Her eyes darted around nervously.

The exiles looked curious.

Fu Tong and Fu Teng were clearly enjoying the show.

Fu Li and Fu Fei were barely holding back their laughter.

Even the head guard was watching with faint amusent.

Then her gaze slowly moved to .

Su Long.

The woman who had pushed her into this situation so effortlessly.

Li Manman suddenly felt a chill run down her spine.

This woman...

She had been smiling the entire ti.

Yet every word she said had quietly forced Li Manman deeper and deeper into a corner.

Li Manman quickly shook her head, her voice trembling as she spoke.

"No... no, that’s not what I ant."

She waved her hands nervously.

"I only stepped forward because I didn’t want the family to fight."

Her eyes turned red again as she forced out a few tears.

"You all misunderstood ."

But this ti, the crowd didn’t look convinced.

Soone in the crowd whispered loudly.

"If she didn’t want him, why protect him like that?"

Another person snorted.

"Exactly. She was even willing to take punishnt for him."

Fu Tong suddenly clapped his hands once.

"Well then," he said cheerfully, "this is perfect."

He pointed between Fu Fong and Li Manman.

"One protects the other."

"The other threatens to kill his own wife for her."

He shrugged dramatically.

"If that’s not love, I don’t know what is."

The surrounding crowd burst into laughter.

Fu Fong’s face turned dark with embarrassnt and rage.

"You idiots! Shut up!"

But the laughter only grew louder.

anwhile, Bai Ming stood quietly to the side.

For the first ti, she looked strangely calm.

Her eyes moved from Fu Fong... to Li Manman.

There was no longer anger in her gaze.

Only cold indifference.

For a mont, no one spoke.

Then Bai Ming slowly stepped forward.

Her movents were calm, but there was a firm look in her eyes.

She walked past Fu Fong without even looking at him and stopped in front of the village chief.

"Village Chief," she said clearly, "can you arrange an annulnt docunt for us?"

Her words shocked everyone.

The crowd imdiately started whispering.

"What?!"

"Did she just ask for an annulnt?"

"Is she really divorcing him?"

Fu Fong’s head snapped toward her.

"You—!"

He pointed at her, his hand shaking.

"W-what are you talking about?!" he stamred. "What do you an by annulnt?!"

Aunt Fu quickly forced out a laugh and rushed over to Bai Ming.

"Ah, Bai Ming," she said, grabbing her arm. "Why are you saying such things? Are you joking?"

She patted Bai Ming’s arm as if trying to calm her.

"This is not the ti to take things so seriously. Husbands and wives argue all the ti."

But Bai Ming imdiately pushed her hand away.

"Don’t touch ."

Aunt Fu froze in shock.

Bai Ming looked at her coldly.

"Do I look like I’m joking?"

Her voice was steady and serious.

Aunt Fu’s smile slowly disappeared.

Bai Ming then turned back to the village chief.

"Village Chief," she said again, "please give

an answer."

Now everyone looked at the village chief.

Even the guards were watching.

The village chief stroked his beard and thought for a mont.

Then he looked at the head guard.

The head guard t his eyes and simply nodded.

The village chief suddenly laughed loudly.

"Ha! This is interesting!"

He waved his hand and called one of his n.

"You! Go and bring an annulnt scroll."

"Yes, Chief!" the man said quickly.

He turned to leave—

"Wait."

My voice stopped him.

He turned back imdiately.

Everyone’s eyes moved to

again.

I stepped forward calmly.

"While you’re bringing that," I said, "bring a marriage docunt as well."

The man looked confused.

"A marriage docunt?"

The crowd exploded with shock again.

"What?!"

"Did she really say marriage?"

Fu Tong started laughing loudly.

"Sister-in-law really ca prepared today!"

Fu Teng shook his head with a small smile.

"This is turning into a full ceremony."

anwhile, Fu Fong’s face turned pale.

He stared at

angrily.

"What marriage docunt?!" he shouted.

I smiled at him calmly.

"Why are you surprised?"

Then I looked at Li Manman.

"Didn’t we already decide your punishnt?"
