His gaze darkened. “And anyone who stands in the path leading to that Throne must be sacrificed.”
His eyes seemed to pierce through space itself.
“It just so happens that you’ve bee one of those obstacles. So naturally, they’ll eliminate you before you ever have the chance to interfere.”
Ivy immediately puffed out her cheeks. “I’m not even interested in that stupid throne.”
She crossed her arms. “Why are they acting as though I desperately want it?”
Nanami merely smiled. “Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter whether you want it or not. What matters is whether they believe you might one day obtain it.”
The room fell silent again. Finally, Nanami spoke once more. “Anyway, I’ve delivered my warning.”
His expression became serious. “If possible, finish both of them within the next two days.”
Silas nodded without hesitation. “I understand.”
The munication link gradually faded. Silence once again filled the underground room.
Silas lowered his gaze toward Ivy. She had remained unusually quiet throughout the entire conversation.
Her brows were slightly knitted together, and she appeared pletely lost in thought. He gently brushed his fingers against her cheek.
“What happened?”
His voice became soft. “What are you thinking about?”
Ivy remained silent for several seconds. Eventually, she sighed quietly. “With everything that’s happening, I’m honestly starting to wonder whether this is the right time for us to have a baby.”
She looked into Silas’s eyes. “I’m worried.”
A trace of anxiety surfaced across her beautiful face. “I’m afraid this child will only make everything more difficult for us.”
“I mean… if the Superior Beings attack while I’m pregnant, won’t I only bee your burden?”
The moment those words left her mouth, Silas’s expression immediately changed. His eyes slowly narrowed.
Indeed, if another battle broke out while Ivy was carrying their child, he would have to fight countless powerful enemies while simultaneously protecting both his wife and their unborn baby.
What bothered him wasn’t the fighting… rather the fact that Ivy would be in disfort for a long time. She might even miscarry.
What if no one is by her side at that moment? Won’t her life be in danger then?
The mere thought alone caused his heart to tighten painfully. Without even thinking, he blurted out, “Then, how about we abort the child?”
The instant those words left his mouth… Smack.
Ivy immediately covered his mouth with her hand. Her eyes widened in disbelief. “I was only making a suggestion!”
She glared fiercely at him. “I never said I wanted to abort our baby. Do you seriously think I’m that vicious?”
Silas slowly removed her hand. His expression remained unbelievably serious.
“If that child is going to cost me your life, then I’ll be the vicious one.”
His voice contained no hesitation whatsoever. “I’ll take its life myself.”
Ivy was pletely stunned. She stared at him speechlessly. For several long seconds, neither of them spoke.
Finally, she let out a helpless sigh.
“You know what…”
A gentle smile slowly appeared on her face. “Forget everything I just said.”
She lovingly placed both hands over her abdomen. “I wanted this child. I wanted it very much.”
She looked toward Silas with eyes overflowing with warmth. “This child is the crystallisation of our love. How could I ever bear to part with it?”
She gently caressed her stomach. “No matter what dangers await us, I’ll protect our child. I’ll protect this little life.”
Seeing the genuine happiness radiating from Ivy’s face… Silas became silent.
He carefully observed her expression. It wasn’t forced. Nor was it excitement born from impulse.
It was pure. Natural. The kind of happiness that reached the very depths of her soul. He had only witnessed that expression twice before.
The first time was when she reunited with her family after believing she had lost them forever.
The second was when she accepted his confession and agreed to bee his wife.
And now, this was the third time. She truly loved this child. She loved it before it had even been born.
How could he possibly destroy the very source of her happiness? He silently sighed.
‘Fine… As long as it makes you happy… I’ll protect both of you.’
He gently wrapped his arms around her. “Alright.”
A faint smile appeared on his face. “Whatever you want. I’ll protect your happiness.”
Ivy smiled sweetly before quietly nestling herself against his chest.
Meanwhile, far away from the underground base, Nanami slowly opened his eyes. The surroundings were eerily quiet.
His sharp gaze slowly swept across the area. For quite some time now, he had constantly felt as though someone was watching him from the darkness.
Without moving from his spot, he calmly spoke, “You can e out now.”
He closed his eyes once more. “There’s no need to keep playing hide-and-seek.”
For several seconds, nothing happened. Then, a ripple distorted the surrounding space. Tammy slowly stepped out from the shadows.
The moment she saw Nanami, she burst into loud laughter. “Hahaha…”
Her laughter echoed endlessly through the empty surroundings. It wasn’t joyful. It wasn’t cheerful.
Instead, it was filled with mockery and bitterness and endless disappointment. It sounded as though she was laughing at her own foolishness for ever trusting him.
Eventually, the laughter ceased. She slowly looked at Nanami. “I honestly believed that for once you’d remain loyal.”
She shook her head with a self-mocking smile. “Looks like I greatly overestimated you.”
Her crimson eyes became filled with murderous intent. “Nanami… you’re nothing more than a dog that doesn’t know how to stay loyal.”
The instant those words fell, she attacked. An invisible mental wave exploded toward Nanami with overwhelming force.
However, Nanami had already anticipated her move long ago. Without even opening his eyes, he casually waved one hand.
The terrifying psychic attack instantly dispersed like smoke before reaching him. Only then did he calmly speak, “Tammy.”
His expression remained pletely indifferent. “You’re allowing your emotions to control your judgement. Calm down.”
Tammy only laughed coldly. “So what if I can’t hurt you?”
Her lips curled into a cruel smile. “I’ll simply kill that little Ivy instead.”
Her murderous aura surged violently. “She didn’t fulfil her promise. So now, I’m finally free to act.”
She slowly raised both hands. “If this worthless world couldn’t give me what I want, then I will mand all the mutated humans to attack.”
She immediately closed her eyes. Her spiritual consciousness spread across enormous distances.
She attempted to seize control over every mutated human scattered throughout Earth. Although the distance greatly weakened her control…
She was still confident she could mand them. However, only a few moments later, her expression suddenly changed. “What…”
She tried again. Nothing happened. The mutated humans pletely ignored her mands.
It was as though an invisible wall had blocked every connection between her and them.
Not only that, every attempt she made was forcefully rejected by an unknown power.
Her eyes abruptly flew open. “How is this possible?”
She stared ahead in disbelief. “Why can’t I use my authority anymore?”
Only then did Nanami chuckle softly. There was a reason he hadn’t exposed Tammy and Coco’s plan immediately after discovering it.
There was also a reason he had intentionally delayed informing Silas about the exact timing of their scheme. He hadn’t done it out of negligence.
Nor because he had lacked the opportunity. He had done it intentionally. Precisely for this oute.
He hadn’t wanted Silas to stop Ivy.
Instead, he had wanted Ivy to fulfil the promise. The promise had only required one thing. Ivy had to willingly sacrifice herself.
And she had done exactly that. The moment she stepped into the array with the intention of offering her own life…
The conditions of the promise had already been fulfilled. Whether she ultimately died, or whether someone rescued her afterward…
Those details were never part of the agreement. That was left entirely to fate. Therefore… the promise remained valid.
Which also meant Tammy was absolutely forbidden from harming Earth for the next six months. The realisation finally dawned upon Tammy.
Her face twisted with rage. She slowly turned toward Nanami. A dangerous smile appeared on her lips. “Wow…”
She clapped sarcastically. “Nanami…”
Her gaze became incredibly sharp. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d honestly think you’ve fallen for that little girl. You’re acting like some lowly dog in heat.”
Her eyes burnt with hatred. “I truly don’t understand why you’re trying so desperately to protect that girl.”
She took a slow step forward, her aura surging violently. “But remember this… you’re going to regret it.”
A vicious smile spread across her lips. “I’ll tell Princess Rayami everything.”
With those words, she turned around, intending to leave.
However, a soft chuckle echoed behind her. “Go ahead.”
Nanami’s calm voice stopped her in her tracks. “Tell her everything.”
His lips curled into a faint smile.
“But remember one thing. If you don’t repeat every single detail, word for word, then I will.”
His eyes remained pletely emotionless.
“And then, let’s see whether Princess Rayami pardons you, or personally sentences you to death.”
