Chapter 1449: Chapter 235: Reunion

Once, Nellie, although steadfast, strong, and fearless, was fiery. Her heart was like a burning fla, warming the souls of everyone around her. Anyone who ca close to her could feel the warmth of that fla and, like moths chasing light, they would unconsciously want to draw nearer to her to feel that heat. Beneath her tough exterior, she had a kind and sincere heart, delicate and soft emotions, and a considerate and gentle personality. Bit by bit, without making a sound, she captured Pannis’s heart, firmly binding him by her side. The current Nellie, although unchanged on the outside, had beco icy on the inside. The fiery fla had frozen, and her warm soul had turned into an icy world. On her, Pannis could no longer feel any of the past tenderness and sweetness, only coldness, indifference, and cruelty remained.

An icy gaze fell upon Pannis’s face, and an icy smile erged on the corners of the female knight’s mouth. The black-clad Nellie sat motionless like a stone on the lofty throne, silently watching as Pannis, with his hands behind his back, slowly approached like one taking a leisurely stroll.

Pannis looked serene, as if the confessions that could not possibly reach the other party had completely relaxed him. At this mont, there was no hint of stress on him, just like a relaxed, lazy, and stress-free walk in the courtyard after dinner on a sumr night. He stopped three ters from the throne, which was an extrely dangerous distance for a Demigod. A re raising of a hand could pose a direct threat to the opponent, with no physical buffer. However, for a Deity, the entire Divine Kingdom is within reach, regardless of physical distance, and their attacks could span any corner within it.

But Pannis wasn’t worried at all, standing unprotected as if confident that no attack would co. He silently raised his head and t Nellie’s gaze on the throne.

A hundred years after their last encounter, it should have been an exciting and passionate scene, but ti had changed everything; everything was entirely different now. Two lovers, who now could only silently watch each other from a distance of three ters, Pannis gazed wordlessly at Nellie, and perhaps, under her icy exterior, in so corner of her heart, she gazed back at him in silence.

“The grace period has ended.” After a long mutual gaze, Nellie suddenly sat upright on her throne. Cold and deep, like a chill wind blowing abruptly in the profound darkness, a voice issued from Nellie’s mouth. It was a voice Pannis had heard before, the voice of Danacus, “The last wish of this body, I have fulfilled for her. It was a favor to you both, for letting acquire a new Divine Body. I had to reward you for it.”

“Oh?” Pannis calmly replied, “Nellie’s wish?”

“Yes, she hoped to see you one last ti and for you to take a good look at her, which I granted,” Danacus replied coldly. “There aren’t many people as cooperative as you left, and without rewarding you, it would make my followers think I’m too cruel.”

“Well, thank you for that, Lord of Death,” Pannis sneered, seeming undisturbed by the misfortune hidden in Danacus’s words, and spoke with an ironic tone, “Your gift has moved so much that I almost want to cry.”

“Hmph, the rewards have been given, now it’s ti to talk about punishnt,” Danacus snorted coldly, suddenly standing up from his throne and looking down at Pannis, “You have finally arrived, making wait for so long yet again, which is simply unforgivable.”

“Yes, I have finally arrived, I am truly sorry for making you wait,” Pannis said with a smile, squinting his eyes and slowly nodding, “But it was unavoidable, after all, I am just a mortal with limited abilities. Since receiving your invitation, I haven’t stopped rushing here, but I only just arrived, and for that, I deeply apologize. However, no matter what, I have indeed arrived, which is better than never coming, don’t you think, Lord of Death?”

“Boom,” a sudden burst of energy exploded in front of Pannis, unleashing an explosive shockwave that rapidly spread outwards. Yet Pannis, who was at the core of the energy impact, was not even slightly affected, not even blinking an eye, and while standing with his hands behind his back, he sarcastically said, “Since returning to the ranks of demigods, my power has increased to a level that even I find surprising. It would be problematic to view with the sa perspective as a hundred years ago, so rather than wasting your divine energy on probing attacks of this caliber, it might be wiser to conserve it, Lord of Death, otherwise, it’s just foolish.”

“This is rely a punishnt for your excuses,” Danacus said with a cold laugh, “Do you think you’re worthy of being probed by ? Pfft, mortal thinking, impossible to understand.”

“Whether I’m worthy or not, who knows?” Pannis shrugged nonchalantly, “We’ve had enough idle talk; I think, considering our relationship, neither of us wants to waste ti on this. So, let’s get straight to the point. I’m here now, you have sothing to look for for, you can tell face to face now, there’s no need to let those inexplicable ssengers relay the ssage anymore.”

“Neither you nor I lack ti, but you’re right, I indeed don’t need to waste too much of it on you,” Danacus said leisurely as he sat back down on his throne, resuming his initial posture, “Compared to the notion that I’m looking for you, it’s probably more accurate to say that you’re looking for . I’m rely giving you a chance; otherwise, you would never be able to see .”

“Heh, true, it is indeed who is looking for you,” Pannis said, squinting his eyes and nodding, “To find you and then kill you, ending my more than one hundred years of hatred towards you, whether it be you or , wasn’t this clear from the beginning? Still, knowing full well why I’m here, you still allowed to co before you. What, then, is your purpose?”

“What do you think?” Danacus counterquestioned, “I wanted to see you, what do you think the reason might be?”

“When talking to others, I always say that you want to kill personally because I ruined your plans in the past, but that’s just a casual remark,” Pannis said, “Just like when ants dirty my food, I only find them annoying rather than seeking vengeance with hatred against the one that dirtied my food. It’s the sa for you; for a deity, hating a mortal is simply ridiculous, so, eting is definitely not for that reason.”
