While the kingdom of Faraway faced the winged threat, its southern neighbors, the kingdom of Nonearby, were torn apart by a terrible civil war that quickly spilled over their borders. The rebel forces, supporting the claimant Olrik against the king’s forces backed by the Empire, took refuge in southern Faraway and annexed the earldom of Thotherside.

Deprived of a large portion of its forces by recent events, and no longer able to incite the dragon to hunt the invaders, the Faraway monarchy accepted this occupation, which the rebels swore would only be temporary. The restitution of these lands, once King Olrik erged victorious, nevertheless caused so diplomatic issues, culminating in the Great War of the Three Kings, where the kings of Nonearby, Faraway, and the Margrave of the North fought terrible battles that presaged the fall of the Central Empire in the following century…
