Chapter 422: Chapter 422: Mission and Vocation

The ergency room truly is a place that toughens people!

Just after ten in the morning, right after the trainees had been assigned, two ergency patients were brought in.

One was a middle-aged manager who suddenly fainted at work, and the other was an elderly man with acute myocardial infarction on a bus.

The entire ergency departnt once again fell into a flurry of activity.

Since there were many doctors present, the rescue operation was quickly organized.

Zhang Shu was in charge of rescuing the patient who had fainted.

anwhile, Chen Bingsheng imdiately launched a series of rescues for the patient with acute myocardial infarction.

Chen Cang followed close behind, ready to assist at any mont.

The patient was a 78-year-old man with a history of chronic coronary heart disease. That morning, after losing several gas of chess in the park and feeling downcast, he boarded a bus and got into an argunt with soone, which triggered the heart attack.

The older man he had argued with was also startled.

After all… how could one suddenly have a heart attack?

If sothing happened, would he be legally responsible?

Fortunately, this other elder did not have heart disease, otherwise… the situation could have escalated greatly.

Thankfully, the bus driver responded swiftly and drove directly to the ergency departnt of the nearby provincial hospital.

Due to his advanced age and multiple underlying conditions, the patient’s rescue was fraught with difficulties, and he nearly passed away several tis!

The trainees watched on the side with hearts pounding, afraid to even take a breath.

After all, this was a living, breathing human life!

After a rescue operation that lasted 40 minutes, the elderly man was finally brought back from the brink of death.

Actually, Chen Bingsheng and his team had been prepared for the possibility that the rescue might fail.

Given the man’s advanced age, previous dical history, and poor heart function, not to ntion the minutes that had passed from the onset of the attack until reaching the hospital… that he was revived was nothing short of miraculous.

The family had been anxiously waiting outside the whole ti.

When Chen Bingsheng inford the family of the successful rescue, they burst into tears of joy!

The 78-year-old man had been saved from a heart attack, and although he still needed thrombolysis or interventional treatnt, at least his life was saved.

The patient who fainted was diagnosed with transient cerebral ischemia and was transferred to the neurology departnt.

The sudden arrival of these two patients made all the trainees on-site realize that the next two months they faced were not an act, but a genuine confrontation with death itself.

A single mishap could lead to a patient’s death!

In that mont, everyone was silently filled with deep reflection.

In just an hour, they witnessed the fragility of life and the critical importance of rescue work!

When they saw the family mbers crying tears of happiness, they suddenly realized the trendous hope and trust placed upon them, a burden far too heavy!

At that mont, they also clearly recognized that they were the last line of defense for people’s lives!

Even if they were not yet imposing figures, they would ultimately protect people’s health!

It was simply because they wore white coats,

And they were called doctors.

This was their duty,

And their mission!

There’s never a dull mont in the ergency room; just when they were about to finish their shift, they received another trauma patient—a chef and part-ti owner of a Xinjiang cuisine restaurant on Heaven Street.

Upon arrival, there was a sense of urgency, with the patient in a frantic state.

“Doctor, doctor! Hurry, hurry, my finger’s cut off!” The patient was a bald man in his forties, plump with fat cheeks.

Chen Cang quickly stood up and said to the patient, “Follow !”

The chef, seeing Chen Cang, imdiately brightened up: “Okay, okay!”

Xu Dongdong also followed Chen Cang into the treatnt room and couldn’t help feeling queasy at the sight of the wound…

“How did you get this injury?” Chen Cang asked calmly.

The chef grinned, “Cut it myself!”

Xu Dongdong, upon hearing this, felt a chill, appalled at the severity the chef had inflicted upon himself…

Though the injury looked ssy with blood and flesh, after cleaning it up, Chen Cang carefully examined it and found it was not too serious, with so damage to the index finger’s tendons and nerves.

Looks like there’ll be no rest this afternoon!

Lunch… probably out of the question too.

Glancing at Xu Dongdong who was following him, he couldn’t help but smile, “You just got here and already you have to starve with .”

Xu Dongdong patted his belly, “No worries, I’ve got plenty of reserve energy.”

Though it was said in jest, Xu Dongdong could tell that Teacher Chen often missed lunch, right?

With the nurse’s help, the patient quickly had so imaging done and blood taken for urgent testing, waiting for the results before officially entering the operating room.

The patient seed to have a good attitude, at this ti more concerned about Chen Cang than his own condition, “Doctor, it’s the middle of the day and this thing has co up… Ah, it’s disrupted your alti. How about you co to eat at my restaurant after the surgery? It’s my treat!”

“Keeping you all busy through the afternoon, I feel quite embarrassed,” the patient seed genuinely apologetic that Chen Cang had missed lunch because of him.

Chen Cang couldn’t help but be caught between laughter and tears at this, while Xu Dongdong seed to be quite looking forward to it…

The anesthetist on duty was Liu Jian, who smiled upon seeing Chen Cang and then glanced at the boy beside him, “Xiao Chen, is this the resident trainee?”

Chen Cang nodded, “Yeah.”

Liu Jian smiled and kindly advised, “Learn as much as you can from Doctor Chen.”

Xu Dongdong nodded his head.

Although he was about the sa age as Chen Cang, he still had a lot to learn when it ca to experience and clinical expertise.

Liu Jian really held Chen Cang in high regard; whenever he saw that Chen Cang had a surgery scheduled, no matter how big or small, Liu Jian would make a point to co and take charge of the anesthesia.

It was a task that not even other directors could call him away from.

Chen Cang was very grateful for this.

For a surgeon, having a good anesthetist is a guarantee for the smooth progress of the operation.

The brachial plexus block anesthesia was simple, and once it was done, Chen Cang began to suture.

Liu Jian watched Xu Dongdong, couldn’t resist pointing out, “Doctor Chen’s tendon suturing is unrivaled.”

It was a true statent.

The patient sighed, “Doctor, you have to do this well for . If it’s stitched up nicely, I’ll personally cook for you when you co to my restaurant. I’m not boasting, but my cooking is truly sothing special, it’s a pity that… Ah!”

Chen Cang was torn between laughter and tears, wondering if the patient was more worried about his fingers or promoting his restaurant.

The surgery was quick – it took less than twenty minutes to complete, and the patient could feel his fingers almost imdiately.

When he wanted to move them, Chen Cang promptly stopped him.

After giving instructions back in the ward, he said, “You’ll need to stay in the hospital for observation for the next couple of days, then you can be discharged and will need regular rehabilitation.”

The patient was still worried. It was already two-thirty, and no matter how he tried, he couldn’t get Chen Cang to go to his restaurant.

So, he simply picked up the phone and called his restaurant, “Make so dishes and send them over, yes! Provincial Second Hospital’s ergency departnt, the signature ones, the heavy hitters! Right, right, right, make a little extra… Oh, and bring so naan as well!”

Less than twenty minutes later, a man carrying both large and small boxes rushed into the ergency ward. Seeing his boss sitting there, he quickly asked, “Bro, are you alright?”

The patient shook his head, “Follow .”

During their conversation, they went to the doctors’ office.

The patient said cheerfully, “Doctor, consider it a token of my appreciation; have so food from our restaurant. It doesn’t cost much.”

“You’ve worked hard all afternoon without eating; I’m really thankful to you.”

Touched by the man’s actions, Chen Cang smiled, stood up, and said thank you.

The man waved his hand dismissively, “Ah, don’t ntion it!”

After leaving, the man placed a bag of naan in the doctors’ office and another at the nurses’ station.

The al wasn’t extravagant, but the sentint was heartfelt, and it moved Chen Cang.

What matters is that your efforts are recognized, your dedication is appreciated – that’s enough.

Sotis, it’s not about seeking gratitude in return; a simple thank you can be more than enough.

PS: Today, when I checked my old book “The Top Student’s Secret Unleashed,” it suddenly got recomnded, and I couldn’t help but read it again, making myself laugh. That was the first ti I wrote such a long book; my skill was still far from adequate, as there was no real style to speak of, just writing whatever ca to mind.

Compared to that, I feel I’ve made so progress with this book, but I still see many shortcomings.

Writing really is like this, you constantly encounter new problems and co to understand your deficiencies, as well as recognize how to write a good book.

I hope to learn a lot through this book and strive to grow.

Lastly, I have a small goal; I hope to reach around 3.5 million words for this book. I hope I can achieve it.

Finally, thanks to “Blood Pants in the Wind” for the generous reward and for becoming a new helmsman of this book, thank you for your support!
