SincetherearenoreviewsonthiswebsiteIwilladdonefromanotherwebsitebyBritishRaptoSpoilerAnovelI’menjoyingalot,enoughsothatIconsideringMTL’ingtherest.WelcometoHell,isnot,infact,setinHell.There’snodemonstobeseenhere(sofar).Itis,however,areincarnationstoryinwhichtheMCisrebornasamonsterinanotherworldSpoiler——(ascorpion,whichisrefreshing!)andhastoserveouthis‘sentence’giventohimfromHell.Thenovelcombinesperspectivesfromdifferentcharacterstobuildtheworldonseveraldifferentlevels,fromveryon-the-groundandrestrictedunderstandingfromourMC,togreaterpoliticsandmovementsfromothercharacters.I’mnotusuallyafanofthesekindofdevelopmentsanduseofperspective,butIalwaysfoundtheperspectivewasfocusedbackonMC(whichwasmoreinterestingtome!)beforeIgotbored.MCisalittleblandpersonalitywise,arealneutral-guycharacter.Killthebadguys,won’talwayssaveeveryonebecausehe’spractical,ect.It’salittleunderwhelmingtobehonest,butI’mwillingtooverlookitasI’mstartingtoseesomepersonalitydevelopmentinthelaterchapters.Fightsceneswerewrittenincrediblywell.WellscriptedandIwasabletovisualiseitveryclearlyasIread.Fantasystoryfightsonhereoftenfallintothetrapofcharactersyellingspellnamesateachotherandlimiteddescriptionssuchas‘Idodgedthestrikethenattacked.’WelcometoHell!’doesagreatjobofpaintingenvironmentsandutilisingsaidenvironmentsinitsaction.Combatisprettybrutalandpoweringscalingisadoneprettysatisfyingly,sinceeverythingreliesonactualskillandnot“Skills”or“Levels”.Worldbuilding,especiallyreligionhadmeeye-rollingatthebeginningwhereSpoiler——oneofthemainantagonisticforcesisacultbelievinginasingle‘superior’godForreincarnatedasamonsterfans,you’llfindthisseriesfairlysatisfyingalthoughsufferingfromtheusualtropeSpoiler——ofMCeventuallygettinghimselfahumanform.Inthiscase,it’sstillprettyalienthough,anditwasn’tbychoice.Atthetimeofthisreview,theseriesisstillongoingonSyosetsu,withabunchinthebacklogtobetranslated(about~150chapters)soI’mlookingforwardtowherethisisgoing.<
