[Ding! Killed level 21 F tier Rabid wolf.]

[Ding! You have levelled up

Received 5 Intelligence, 5 Wisdom, 5 Agility, 5 Strength, 5 Endurance, 4 Perception, 3 Willpower 6 Unallocated stats.]

The familiar notifications greeted Lun after he had finished the formidable beast off. The ending wasn’t as satisfying as he thought it would be, but he was happy with his power and ability to overpower the beast many levels above him nonetheless.

He had very much still enjoyed the fight though, a feeling he had nearly forgotten in this forsaken dungeon.

His health had barely even reduced by a thousand over the entire fight, which compared to his total amount of health didn’t even amount to a seventeenth of his entire pool. This fight had been intense but it was far less dangerous than his previous fight with the Elite wolf, which showed that he still had to be careful when picking fights as if he provoked another Elite, but at a much higher level he could be in a lot of danger.

But Lun had learned a lot from that fight, specifically about the usage of mana. He was learning a lot about mana these days through his reading of the Rare book he had obtained, and now during the fight he was making active usage of his mana to constantly push himself and test new ideas during the fight.

His attempt at using two magic skills of differing properties and usage at the sa ti with his arcane spear and his fire bolt had proven to be quite an enlightening experience for him.

But his testing had also put him in dangerous situations over the course of the battle, particularly when the beast had managed to activate so sort of ’rage’ mode and managed to clasp onto his spear and lift him off the ground along with it.

However his training with his mana had been worth it over the past few days as he imdiately ca up with a counter move using his Fire bolt at point blank with the beast.

Although doing such a rash thing was extrely dangerous to him due to his proximity to the explosion as well, he had gambled using his newfound knowledge and control of mana and it luckily went in his favour.

His ideas weren’t exactly perfected yet and they hadn’t even been tested before he used it in combat, but the theory was simple and it effectively ant that Lun would use his limited control over his own mana to interfere slightly during the skil casting to control the trajectory of the power of his skill.

Thankfully for him, his gamble had paid off and his idea worked. He had changed the skill slightly during the casting to direct all of it’s explosive power upon contact in a singular direction instead of a wide area explosion.

His control and theoretical knowledge of mana was still too little, so it didn’t work 100% as he intended it to but the majority of the power of the spell was directed towards the wolf. The remaining explosive shockwave that imdiately hit him was dimd down enough for him to remain unscathed when he recovered from it.

He had even seen a sharp increase of 50 in his proficiency upon experinting with his skill mid fight, taking him over half way to level 3 in the skill only minutes after he had reached level 2.

Now at level 16, Lun decided to take a break from fighting for a while as although he hadn’t sustained much damage from the fight, it was tiring and long drawn, causing him to consu a lot of his stamina, requiring a much needed rest.

-----------------------

In a small corner of the tutorial forest, a peculiar sight stood before Will’s eyes as he stood far from Jake with Qu Quan to the side, both observing Jake’s battle with the ostrich-like beast.

"Jake really has beco so much more powerful after receiving his level 10 skill, huh." Will was the first to speak to Qu Quan in a relaxed manner, as if they were two friends chatting in a café back on Earth rather than two survivors in a hell like survival scenario.

"I’m almost feeling a little jealous of him, why was he so lucky to be offered such a good skill while we were left with normal ones..." Qu Quan pouted as she lanted her lack of luck in comparison with Jake.

Over the past few weeks in the tutorial since Lun had disappeared, the trio had beco a lot closer now that they had been whittled down to just the three of them. Qu Quan, despite being the youngest of them as well as the sole woman, had grown quite comfortable around Will and Jake as neither party felt anything romantic developing between them.

Rather than romance, Will and Jake treated Qu Quan like their younger sister and a friend. The thought of performing any heinous deeds never even crossed their minds once and the three only ever comforted each other in their tis of need and listened when they spoke of their past.

They hadn’t been so lucky to be left alone over their period of hunting either, as over the last few weeks they had inevitably co across more groups of humans, both large and small.

Conflicts had naturally brewed when they ca across so of these groups, just as history taught again and again, human nature was selfish and these groups were just like the first that had ambushed them.

One group had chosen to take a similar approach to the first group of people that ambushed them at night, that Lun had dispatched to the afterlife single handedly. But unfortunate for this group, the three of them were much stronger in comparison to their previous selves, and were much more prepared for attacks like this.

The end result ca out to be the trio of Will, Jake and Qu Quan completely overpowering the four people that had ambushed them as they had completely misjudged their levels, which led to their deaths.

The other groups they ca across only had short conflicts that resulted in minor injuries before both sides retreated. But the trio were very happy to know that so humanity still existed as they ca across a large group of nearly 200 people who had banded together and welcod people to join them, led by a brave man they had forgotten the na of.

They thought about joining them at first, but decided against it as they had already developed an efficient thod of hunting with just the three of them, as they were already the sa level as the large group’s most powerful combatants.

Soon, Jake finished the ostrich beast off as he ca over to the other two with the carcass in hand.

"Finally reached level 13, it seems you two have so catching up to do haha!" He joked with them as he stored the dead beast away in his inventory, and the group moved locations to carry on their hunt elsewhere.
