As Lun ventured through the forest, his newfound abilities as a Mystic Warlord continued to impress him. His enhanced physical attributes, coupled with his mastery of various weapons and spells, made him feel invincible. E-tier beasts, which had once been formidable opponents, now fell before him like leaves in the wind.
He moved with grace and precision, his strikes calculated and efficient. The forest echoed with the sounds of battle, a testant to Lun’s growing power. He couldn’t help but smile as he dispatched another group of creatures with a combination of sword strikes and fire spells.
The forest had been his training ground, and it had served him well. But now, he had a mission to complete in the small city of Veridia. The quest to eradicate the nest of Plagueclaw Vermin weighed on his mind, and he was eager to prove himself in his new class.
As he continued his journey, the forest began to thin, and signs of civilization appeared. The distant sound of voices and the scent of wood smoke reached his senses. Lun quickened his pace, eager to reach his destination.
Finally, he erged from the forest and stood at the edge of Veridia. The city was smaller than so of the grandiose tropolises he had read about in fantasy novels, but it held a charm of its own. The buildings were made of stone and wood, blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings. The streets were bustling with people, going about their daily lives.
Lun took a mont to observe the city. He was fascinated by the interactions of the inhabitants. rchants called out their wares, children played in the cobblestone streets, and couples strolled hand in hand. It was a scene of ordinary life, but to Lun, it felt like a glimpse into a new world.
He decided to take his ti exploring Veridia before heading to the Hunter’s Guild to report the completion of his quest. Walking through the city, he couldn’t help but overhear snippets of conversations. The residents of Veridia spoke of various topics, from recent news to local gossip.
One conversation in particular caught his attention. Two elderly n were sitting on a bench, engaged in a spirited discussion about a recent festival. Lun paused to listen, his curiosity piqued.
"...and did you see the fireworks, Terrence? They were more magnificent than ever!"
Terrence, the other man, nodded enthusiastically. "Aye, Joseph, I haven’t seen such splendid fireworks in years. The festival this year was truly a sight to behold."
Lun couldn’t help but smile at their excitent. It seed that Veridia had its own traditions and celebrations, bringing joy to its residents. It was a stark contrast to the challenges he had faced in the wilderness.
Continuing his exploration, Lun passed by various shops and stalls. He noticed a blacksmith’s workshop with a burly man hamring away at a piece of tal. The rhythmic clang of the hamr against the anvil resonated in the air.
Curious, Lun entered the shop and watched as the blacksmith worked his craft. The man’s hands moved with practised precision, shaping the tal into a finely crafted sword. Lun admired the skill and dedication it took to create such a weapon.
As he left the blacksmith’s shop, Lun’s attention was drawn to a quaint bakery. The aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries wafted through the air. He couldn’t resist the temptation and stepped inside.
The bakery was a cosy place with wooden beams and warm lighting. Shelves were lined with an assortnt of bread, cakes, and sweets. Lun approached the counter and greeted the baker, a friendly woman with flour-covered hands.
"Good day, sir! What can I get for you?" she asked with a warm smile.
Lun decided to try a loaf of freshly baked bread and a small pastry filled with fruit. He paid for his selections and left the bakery with a satisfied stomach.
As he continued to explore Veridia, he couldn’t help but appreciate the simplicity of life in the city. It was a stark contrast to the grand quests and battles he had undertaken. Here, in this ordinary city, people lived their lives, cherishing the monts of joy and togetherness.
Eventually, Lun made his way to the Hunter’s Guild, where he reported the completion of his quest to eradicate the nest of Plagueclaw Vermin.
Lun entered the Hunter’s Guild, his chest adorned with a sense of accomplishnt. The clerks and guild mbers went about their business, and a hushed murmur filled the air as they traded tales of recent quests. Approaching the front desk, he waited for the clerk’s attention.
The young clerk behind the desk looked up from her paperwork, her eyes widening slightly as she took in Lun’s appearance. She had seen her fair share of hunters, but the air of confidence and the faint glow of power that surrounded him set him apart.
"Good day," Lun greeted with a polite nod. "I’ve returned to report the completion of the quest to eradicate the nest of Plagueclaw Vermin."
The clerk blinked in surprise, and her gaze fell to the sack at Lun’s side. Without a word, he reached into the sack and withdrew a severed ear, placing it on the counter. It was large, grotesque, and clearly belonged to the D-tier queen vermin he had slain.
The clerk’s eyes widened even further as she recognized the ear. Her surprise was evident, and she stamred, "You... you killed the queen?"
Lun nodded, his expression calm. "Yes, the nest has been cleared."
The clerk’s surprise turned into sothing resembling panic as she hurriedly flipped through the guild’s quest records. After a mont, her face paled, and she looked back up at Lun.
"I... I apologise," she stamred. "I didn’t realise... The quest was for soone to clear the weaker F and E-tier vermin. They’re the ones causing the most trouble for the city. You... you’ve eliminated the queen, a D-tier creature. We’re not qualified to deal with soone of your level. Please, give a mont."
With that, she turned and hurriedly made her way to the back of the guild hall. Lun watched her go, his curiosity piqued. He had expected so recognition for his accomplishnt, but it seed he had inadvertently overachieved.
