Yet, all of that would co at a cost.
I would be accepting my eventual death against the hero instead of trying to fight against the plot line by attending the academy.
I could either enjoy my life for ten years, then die according to the plot, or go to the academy and fight against the plotline, potentially dying or living in ten years.
Sighing, I shook my head and began walking towards the center of town, where the marketplace was.
Traveling the world and exploring?
What was I thinking?
How could I not even try to fight the plotline, which is so determined to kill and make an antagonist?
Passing by the adventurer’s guild building, I spotted the massive warp gate that I would be using tomorrow in the distance, but it was empty and closed for the day.
As I simply walked around, I could feel my mana slowly draining from my body and going into the bracelet on my wrist.
It was an extrely small amount, as maybe I was losing 0.01% of my mana each minute, but it still felt weird having my mana constantly sapped.
Pinching my nose, I crouched down and entered the outskirts of the marketplace, seeing countless booths and vendor stands lined up for miles.
Although the sll was horrible, it seed my nose had sowhat adapted to it and beco less sensitive to the terrible scent.
Anyway, it wasn’t like the terrible scent of the humans around was the only thing entering my nose.
Countless food items, fragrances, and other slls mixed with the humans’ odor, dampening its effect.
"hm?"
Finding a particularly powerful and pleasing sll inside this crowd of over a thousand people should have been impossible, so when one appeared, I imdiately halted.
Like a dog searching for its bone, I pushed my way through the crowd, letting my nose lead deeper into the marketplace.
At that mont, I suddenly felt soone’s shoulder bump into my rock-hard horns, and the person flew back two steps.
"OW...what the hell was that."
Letting out a dry cough, I crouched down and continued walking forward.
Tall people were my greatest enemy now...literally.
They were the only people who could inadvertently touch my head, and therefore, my horns, which could lead to my identity as a human being shattered.
Keeping that in mind, I followed that sll until I eventually found its source and stopped confusedly.
In front of lay a small vendor stand, with only one employee, and hundreds of different types of plants.
Each plant lay in a small brick pot, and there were no custors beside in the area.
Was it the plants?
Leaning downward, I sniffed each plant, eventually halting as I reached the last one within the row, which had a label that read, "Lily."
With elegant, trumpet-shaped blooms and rich lavender petals, the flower sat atop its tall green stem, surrounded by lance-shaped leaves.
The flower emitted a soothing, soft aroma that seed to sohow overpower the scent of all the humans in the vicinity.
However, as I glanced down at the price tag of two silver coins, a sigh imdiately escaped my mouth.
Maybe, they’d sell similar plants in the capital city or at the academy.
At that mont, I felt a sudden pressure against my shoulder, and before I could turn around, a familiar voice sounded.
"Didn’t think you’d be the type of person to like flowers."
Spinning my head around, I spotted Liana and Evangel standing side-by-side while looking ahead at the stand.
Pointing at Evangel beside her, Liana smiled and said.
"This is probably going to be her last day in the city, so I thought I’d show her around the marketplace."
Nodding my head, I was about to turn back around when Evangel suddenly took a step forward, beside , and started examining the plants.
I was taller than both the girls, so I wasn’t necessarily that scared of my identity being revealed, but I didn’t want to take any risks.
Looking back at Liana, I nodded my head and replied.
"Thought I’d take a look around here before I left."
Shaking her head, Liana sighed and asked.
"Did you have to leave so suddenly at the guild? I had to keep that glass of beer away from Evangel at every second while she kept trying to grab it."
She had tried to drink the beer...?
Confusedly, I took a side-glance at Evangel, who seed particularly entranced with one plant near the end of the row.
The pure and moral hero had tried to drink a glass of beer?
Smiling, I shook my head and looked at Liana.
She was a kid, the sa age as .
However, whenever I saw her, I always thought of her as the powerful and strong adult version of herself that I had read about in the book.
When I saw Evangel, I was looking at the adult-version of her, not the one in front of .
Currently, she was just a confused kid who had just been thrown into so chaotic circumstances due to receiving a blessing.
Ironically, the two of us were practically in the sa situation.
Interrupting my train of thought, Liana suddenly leaned forward and tapped Evangel on the shoulder.
"Are you going to buy that now? We already ca to this store once, and you didn’t want it last ti."
Curious as to what could interest the future hero, I leaned downward, halting upon seeing the plant.
The very sa Lily I had wanted to buy was now sitting, cupped in Evangel’s hand, as she stared at it.
At that mont, Enangel suddenly shifted her gaze away from the plant, making eye contact with .
"..."
"..."
What was I supposed to say?
What could I say to the person who was supposed to kill ?
What could I say to the person whose brother I had killed?
Unsurprisingly, my body simply froze, and we maintained eye contact for a couple of awkward monts.
