The temperature of the room lowered so drastically that I thought we were being thrown inside the cold room. The hair at the back of my neck stood up at their ends.

’This aura... belongs to none other than...Damon.’

I turned around and behold, Damon stood at the entrance of the door with his hand tucked in his pocket.

He looked like an angel of death with the aura emanating from him, and the fact he was wearing black pants and a black shirt... paired with his raven black hair and black eyes made him look like he was oozing with dark energy.

And with the way his face darkened... it just made everything worse.

"I can see you both made a good team... What a touching reunion?" He clicked his tongue as he strode inside the room.

Unconsciously, I jumped to my feet. "Master..."

He raised his hand, silencing my words. "I didn’t know that you both are that close that even my pet knows your wolf’s na." he said with a lopsided smile.

His gaze was as sharp as a blade as if he wanted to skin us alive. I poked my tongue at my inner cheek. ’Could this be, the famous... Jealousy?’

"Alpha Damon... she only managed to know my wolf na when she had mistakenly called Midnight my na. You know how sassy Midnight can be... so he told her his na himself... not ." Alaric’s expression turned serious.

"So what about your little mont a while ago?" His eyes narrowed at us.

’Are we going to lose a hand or a limb?’

Alaric turned to ... nodding his head at , that I should answer, afterall I was the one who said the mont. ’I never knew he could be such a snitch so quick.’

"What I ant by that was... I an we were trying to express our gratitude to one another..." I illustrated with my hand.

"And Gamma Theo interrupted us thinking we have abandoned him... so I said it was Beta Alaric and my mont... he shouldn’t... interrupt." I scratched the back of my head. ’Why does it feel like I’m digging a deeper grave for myself?’

"Interesting," Damon drawled. "Why don’t you both continue the MONT? I’ll like to watch it. It must be a touching one... Since you both have made Theo feel left out." He sat on the chair beside Theo.

Theo pushed his glasses back nervously. The air in the room kept plumting like a falling rock.

"We are already done. There is no need to continue." My palms beco sweaty all of a sudden.

"Then you both should re-enact it again. I want to see how touching it really was." he humd, his eyes brooding over like a prince of darkness.

’What have I gotten myself into.’ I cursed myself inwardly.

The room went silent.

Alaric rubbed his temple as if praying for strength. "Alpha Damon, I think we all know there was no ’mont’ worth re-enacting."

Damon tilted his head, his eyes gleaming with amusent that didn’t quite reach his cold expression. "Oh, but I insist. Ember, why don’t you go ahead? Start from where you smiled so warmly at him."

"I smiled at everyone like that," I blurted, my voice cracking like dry wood. "Even the healer. You should’ve seen the smile I gave her, practically award-winning."

Theo choked on his breath beside Damon. "She’s not lying, Alpha. I think she even called both Beta Alaric and herself... um.. Hansel and Greta. I think it must a na for a boy and girl that are very close.’"

I shot him a glare. ’Traitor.’

Damon leaned back in his seat. "Huh. So you’ve been spreading your charms everywhere, I see. And you even ford a na for both of you... what a great duo?"

"Not everywhere, and Hansel and Greta are both fighters that hunt witches," I muttered. "I’m doing it just out of courtesy. I’m polite. Isn’t that a good thing?"

"Very," he said with a tight smile. "Except when that politeness leads to private monts behind closed curtains."

I held up my hands. "Okay, okay! I get it... you’re mad. I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful, I just wanted to check on him and say thank you. And the curtains weren’t closed." I pinched the bridge of my nose in exasperation.

Damon rose to his feet slowly. The chair creaked as he stood, his tall fra casting a long shadow across the bed. "Next ti, send a fruit basket."

Alaric chuckled under his breath. "Or maybe a handwritten letter."

Damon’s eyes flicked to him, they were sharp as knives. "Beta Alaric, unless you want to be sent back to the infirmary from the infirmary, I suggest you shut up."

Theo snorted, then quickly covered his mouth when Damon’s eyes darted toward him.

"Master," I called. "You’re making this a bigger deal than it is."

He stepped toward . "That’s because it is a big deal. You don’t belong in another male’s room without my permission. Especially not his."

"He’s my friend," I whispered, "and he saved ."

"And I’m your master," Damon growled lowly, "and I almost left disaster along the forest path trying to save you too."

My chest tightened. "I didn’t an to upset you..."

His eyes softened slightly, but only for a second. "Don’t do it again."

"I won’t," I promised, lowering my gaze.

"Good," he muttered, taking my hand.

He turned around, pulling behind him as he headed for the door. But before leaving, he stopped and threw one last glance at the room.

"I’ll have soone bring your als, Beta. Recover quickly." It was more like a threat than a warm gesture.

Alaric gave a lazy salute. "Wouldn’t dream of dragging your pet into another ’mont.’"

Damon didn’t reply. But I swore I saw his fingers tighten ever so slightly around mine.

As the door shut behind us, the cold air slowly lifted, and I breathed out the tension I didn’t know I was holding.

’Soone’s definitely jealous...’
