*MONALISA*

It’s been years since I was at a beach.

I’ve avoided going to a beach by all ans.

When I beca a model, I turned down offers that would make venture into any beach at all.

But today, I thought it would be okay.

I was over that now.

Enzo and I walked on the beach sand and he turned to face .

“You didn’t take any pictures at the Aquarium. Do you want to take a picture of you now?” He asked.

I shook my head. “I don’t need it.”

He grinned at and turned to face the ocean.

“Wow...it’s such a beautiful view.”

I stared at so parents and their children.

Don’t think about it, Mona.

Don’t think about it.

You shouldn’t think about it...but then her last words to ran through my head.

*Turn around, Pumpkin. Close your eyes and count to 10.*

We were at a beach.

We had co together to build sand castles and play in the bay of the ocean.

“Why?” I had asked her.

“I have a surprise for you. Make sure you don’t look back until you finished counting to 10, okay?”

I had nodded excitedly and turned around.

I counted to 10 and when I spun, the surprise wasn’t what I was expecting at all.

Tears pricked my eyes and I couldn’t fight them.

Being on this beach was bringing back the pain I had tried to buried.

Tears spilled from my eyes and my chest ached so bad.

*RAPHAEL*

I slowly turned to face Mona to see her crying.

I moved closer to her.

“What is it?”

People were starting to look at us...she was practically wailing and they might be thinking I was making her cry.

I held her shoulder. “Mona, What’s wrong?”

She wiped the tears away with the backs of her hands, but they won’t stop coming.

I slowly pulled her into my arms.

“Stop crying, huh.”

But she only wept more into my chest.

For the few days I have known her, she seed like a strong person, an Iron Lady if you ask .

And watching her break down like this was strange.

Still, it made feel bad.

I hate seeing people cry.

“We should head back to the resort now.” I suggested.

She sniffed and nodded.

********************

Throughout the trip back to the resort, she was quiet.

She had stopped crying when we got to the car, but she wouldn’t say anything.

I made us two cups of coffee and walked up to the bed where she was seated.

“Here.” I stretched a cup to her.

She took a sip and spat it out.

“This is too sweet.” She complained.

“Sorry. I should’ve asked you how you like your coffee, I like mine this way. I’ll make you another one.”

“With no sugar this ti.” She warned.

Can’t she even make an attempt to be polite?

Well, I will overlook this because she had practically cried her eyes out today.

I made another coffee for her and walked back into the bedroom.

I handed her the cup.

She took a sip and make a dissatisfied face.

“What now?”

“It doesn’t match my taste.”

“Do I look like your houseboy or sothing...” I paused recalling how hard she cried today.

Sighing, I got the cup and walked off to make another one.

********

“Does this matches your taste now?”I asked, handing her the third cup.

She grinned. “If I say no, are you going to keep making more cups of coffee for ?”

I crossed my arms. “You’re having fun by doing this, aren’t you?”

Mona shrugged and took a sip. “Well...this is manageable.”

I eyed her as I sat on the edge of the bed.

“So do you want to talk about it?”

“Talk about what?” She asked, exactly.

“About...you know...what happened earlier?”

“Nothing happened.”

Was she kidding ?

“You were crying...”

“Oh that....No...I wasn’t crying, sothing flew into my eyes.”

I scoffed. “Mona, my shirt was literally soaked from your tears...you cried so much that I think you might have an headache right now.”

“Headache, my foot. Enzo, I wasn’t crying...I don’t cry...I’m too strong for that.”

I can never understand this woman.

“Sothing might be bothering you and if it had made you cry so much...it might be make you feel better if...”

“Feel better? I wasn’t crying. Nothing’s bothering . Sothing flew into my eyes.” She insisted and placed the cup on the bedside table.

She turned around and pulled a blanket over her body.

I couldn’t help but rember her cries.

“I hope you aren’t bothered by anything as you’ve said. Those tears didn’t look good on you. Goodnight, Mona.” I said and walked off to the couch.

I laid down on it and stared at the ceiling.

The day’s event ran through my head.

Co to think of it, I’m the only one who had fun today.

She was busy nagging and just simply being her an self until she started crying at the beach.

I should have made it fun for her as well.

I might not be her real husband but there was nothing wrong if we got along, right?

I would make this honeymoon fun for her from tomorrow whether she likes it or not.

I had barely fallen deeply asleep when her voice woke up.

I glanced at the bed to find her moving slightly.

Was she having a bad dream?

I stood up from the couch and moved closer to the bed.

“Where are you?....I want no surprises...I can’t see you anywhere...”

She looked so sad.

I wonder how bad was this dream.

I should go back to the bed.

People have bad dreams all the ti.

She’d be fine.

But when I stared at her face...I saw a tear slid sideways touching the bed.

She was even crying in her sleep?

Was this perhaps related to her cries at the beach?

I wonder what exactly would affect Iron Lady this way.

I slowly got into the bed.

I was only trying to make her go back to a peaceful sleep.

There was nothing wrong with that.

I laid on the bed and as I tried to pull her into my arms, her eyes opened.

I swallowed when tears suddenly rolled down her cheeks.

“I’m...I’m not crying.” She choked out.

I nodded. “I know.”

Her lower lip quivered and I slowly embraced her, stroking her hair.

She sobbed, slightly, the scent of her hair flew into my nose.

It slled like strawberries.

I shook my head.

I shouldn’t be thinking about how nice her hair slls!

She grew quiet and her breath grew even.

I realized she had fallen asleep and I didn’t want to wake her up by moving.

I’ll find my way back to the couch when she was deeply asleep.
