"Miss Thompson, you’re here."
Mr. Alexander imdiately walked to the door to greet Charlotte Thompson.
Everyone else in the room also looked up and turned their gaze to Charlotte as she entered, except Riley Thompson, who stood frozen in place.
As Charlotte glanced over Riley’s face, a faint smile flashed in her eyes, and then she shook hands with the director.
"Sorry, Mr. Alexander, I’m late."
"Not at all, Miss Thompson, you ca just at the right ti. Everyone is here now." Mr. Alexander chuckled softly and then stepped aside to make room for Charlotte.
However, just as Charlotte was about to sit down, Riley snapped out of her daze and exclaid at Charlotte in surprise.
"Charlotte, what are you doing here!"
Riley’s voice drew everyone’s attention, but a few people were clearly anticipating a good show.
Many in the room were here because of the high-profile TV drama.
They were uncertain about who the investors were and wanted to use this gathering to find out.
At this point in the production crew, everyone was present except the male lead and the investors.
When Riley first walked in, many doubted she would be the female lead, as her status seed too low for such a role.
But when they saw Charlotte enter next, their thoughts changed imdiately.
No one in the room was new to the entertainnt industry. When they saw Charlotte and Riley together, they began to understand.
After all, Riley had gained so online fa because she "looked like" Charlotte, and there had been much marketing and promotion connecting her to Charlotte, and even involving Justin Battleson.
The implications of this situation were thought-provoking.
"I heard the lead was personally chosen by the investors?" So people were already whispering, their eyes sweeping across Riley.
"Seems like we’re in for a good show this ti."
"What if Riley doesn’t sign with the crew?"
"Haven’t you heard the saying, money makes the mare go?"
The murmurs didn’t affect Charlotte and Riley on the other side.
Facing Riley’s surprised inquiry, Charlotte showed an innocent expression: "Miss Riley, is there a problem with being here?"
"You..." Riley’s voice trembled when she spoke, preventing her from saying everything she wanted to.
Her gaze swept over the director’s face, and after a long pause, she finally squeezed out a voice from her throat.
"You’re the investor for this crew!"
"Of course, is there a problem?"
Charlotte nodded as if it were obvious and then, under Riley’s watchful eyes, moved to the table and sat down.
"Since everyone is here, we can also discuss the details of the TV drama."
Charlotte’s voice halted the murmurs, and the director returned to his seat.
The room only had Riley standing still, making her appear particularly out of place.
Seeing Riley remain motionless, Charlotte slowly shifted her gaze to her.
Then Charlotte propped her chin up and asked Riley, "Miss Riley, do you have any questions you’d like to ask?"
At this mont, Charlotte’s voice was rather cheerful, seemingly very pleased with Riley’s current reaction.
