Chapter 246: Meeting An Annoying Ancestor.

"In any case, I proposed to her myself, and I was definitely not forced into it, okay?" I muttered for the hundredth time to my sister, who still looked unconvinced.

It had barely been five minutes since she ended her little punishment game, and she and my father had already entered full interrogation mode.

Beside her, my father also narrowed his eyes.

"But why so suddenly...?" He asked.

"As I said, Dad... it was love at first sight. As soon as I saw her, I knew she was the one."

I literally got shivers due to how cringe I felt, but alas, sometimes sacrifices are necessary to make a few plans work. And more than that, currently, I was worried about something a lot more important than feeling cringe.

An old man was floating upside down in front of me, making all sorts of faces with his transparent body. I didn’t know whoever the fuck he was, but from the signature black hair and crimson eyes, I was sure that geezer was someone from the Ashborn family.

The first time I saw him was when Lyra caught me. This bastard appeared all of a sudden upside down before me, stroking its long beard.

Because of that suddenness, I kind of flinched slightly, and because of that blunder, he probably suspected that I could see him. Ever since then, this bastard has been trying to get a reaction out of me.

But I was sure I wasn’t the only one who could see him, because the way Lyra’s gaze focused on him sometimes made me a hundred percent sure she could see him too.

Tch...

"But didn’t you break your engagement barely a few days before arriving at the demon academy...? How could you even fall in love so quickly...?"

My father asked, unable to see the old geezer trying to slap my face, only for his hands to pass through.

"What are you talking about, Dad? Since when has love cared about time and place...? The moment I laid my eyes upon her, upon her beautiful eyes, I knew she was the one. And don’t worry, she hasn’t enchanted me or something. I want to marry her, she wants that as well. So just greet your future daughter-in-law instead of asking useless questions." I replied without hesitation.

I guess watching those cringe romance dramas had some use after all. Still, saying those things with such nonchalance did kill a part of my soul.

My dad still looked unconvinced, but honestly, he was kind of chill in such matters. Hell, he was the one who always taught me to love freely, so really, I was just following his guidance.

"What about the... chocolate part...?" He asked, slightly hesitant now.

"Don’t worry about it. She is kind of too direct. What she meant was that she liked the chocolate I gave her when I proposed to her for marriage, so she accepted." I quickly corrected the misunderstanding.

My father nodded and switched his attention to Arza, questioning her, as she answered in her usual speaking style of giving a single word answer.

Lyra, in the meantime, looked at me intently, suspecting that I could see the old man as well.

My mind raced with what to do about this creepy old man.

Should I just somehow chain him in my domain...?

Tch...

"Hehehe, can you see me...?"

"Look at me..."

"You look ugly for being my descendant..."

The mocking voice of the old man echoed again and again, but I tried my best not to react. Still, this bastard was getting on my nerves now.

As far as I knew, Lyra had a unique-ranked Nexus called Promethean Titan, that was the reason why she was revered throughout the whole human empire as a once-in-a-millennium genius.

They called her someone fated to surpass even the founder of the Ashborn Family, a monster who once dominated the whole world with his raw strength. He was said to be at the same, or even greater, level as the founder of the Empire and Lyra was said to be above him in potential.

And she honoured those expectations by reaching the peak of B-rank in merely one and a half years after her awakening.

But her achievements didn’t end there.

Just last year, immediately after breaking through to B-rank, she defeated a peak B-rank dragon, a race renowned for their tough bodies and immense strength.

And she defeated it in a pure strength battle, without the use of mana.

So yeah, she was a monster.

But as far as I knew, her class didn’t have anything to do with the dead or ghosts. Although unique classes in themselves were anomalies, something even the Heavenly Principles couldn’t categorise properly, I doubted that her class, which was purely battle-related, could have anything to do with this geezer.

Even if her existence was broken, she was a mere extra in the novel, as she vanished after the doom of my family. So there wasn’t much information on her in the novel as well.

"Tch, so far the bloodline has been diluted."

"In my time, even monkeys were more beautiful."

The old man’s voice echoed again, this time with even more ridiculous insults.

Calm down, Rael.

Calm down.

This bastard is already dead, you can’t kill him anymore.

I tried to keep my mind stable, but this bastard was pushing his luck.

Finally, even being as humble and calm as me, I was about to snap but thankfully, before I could even say anything, my dad got up, finally done interrogating Arza.

"You kids have a talk. Meanwhile, I will get the work I came here for done." He said, wearing his overcoat.

"What work? I thought you came here to meet me." I narrowed my eyes at him.

He looked away. "That was definitely one of the reasons, but you know our Emperor. He has ways to push his jobs onto others, even during vacations."

"In any case, I will catch up with you later. After all, I still have many things to ask you."

With a chuckle, he walked out.

I could guess what those other things were. After all, I did a lot of shit during my time here, so it wasn’t difficult to figure out.

With him gone, I got up from the couch as well.

"Lyra, I need to talk to you." I said. "Let’s take a walk, shall we...?"

"Sure." Lyra got up as well, a smirk on her face.

I looked at Arza. "Hey Arza, can you watch Ru for a while? I will be back soon."

She looked at me, then at Ru, and nodded, too busy munching on her chocolate.

With that done, I walked out, Lyra following behind me, with that creepy old man floating out as well.

It was time to bust a ghost.
