"Hi," Jael said with a grin as Mauve opened her eyes.

"Hi," she tried to say but yawned in his face. "Sorry," she whispered as she covered her mouth.

"Did you sleep well?" He asked.

She nodded and moved closer to him, her warm bloody seeking his cold one. "How about you? I think you left the bed at so point."

"You noticed?" He asked.

"I don't know," she said, yawning again. "It just felt like you left but you ca back, I think so I am not so sure. Maybe, I was dreaming."

"No, you weren't," he replied. "I did leave."

Mauve's expression turned serious imdiately. "Why?"

"I needed to talk to Louis and Danag," he replied as his eyes traced her face. Mauve noticed that his eyes lingered a little on her lips.

"About Vae?" She asked.

"Sothing like that," he whispered.

"Okay," she said and nodded.

"You're not going to ask more questions?" He frowned.

"Do you want to?" She asked. "You said you'll take care of it. There is no reason to bombard you with questions. I'll just let you deal with it. If there is anything you want to tell , then you will. I don't have to ask you about it."

Mauve watched Jael blink at her words. "What if I can't get her from Seraphino."

Mauve tried to pretend she was strong but her eyes failed her. "I know it won't be from lack of trying. I know you'd do everything you can to get her away from him."

"You do trust , don't you?"

"Of course, I trust you." She smacked his chest. "Why would you even ask that?"

"I love you," he whispered.

Mauve shrank, "I love you too," she said against his chest as she hid her hot face.

"You're adorable," he whispered.

"I am not."

"You are!"

"I am not!"

"You are. That aside, I'll speak to Seraphino after the first al. Stay away from the study for a while. I'll tell either Louis or Mill to keep you company."

"Alright, I won't go ten feet near your study."

"Okay then," he chuckled.

"Jael," she softly called. "Do you think it will be possible for to see Vae while you're busy with Seraphino?"

Jael frowned, "I don't know about that."

"Okay, I don't want to ruin anything but I really want to talk to her. I want to ask her a lot of things. I tried reaching out to her when I went back to my father's castle but she was hard to find." Mauve's lower lip quivered as she spoke.

Jael swore, "I will think of a way to make this work."

Her face brightened up imdiately, "Really?" She asked.

"Yeah, you won't get a lot of ti though and Seraphino would definitely know you've been speaking to her. He will sll you on her but you don't have to worry about his reaction."

"Won't that get you in trouble?"

Jael chuckled, " ? Trouble? You worry about the wrong person. Worry about Vae. I will let you know when it's safe to talk to her."

"Thank you so much, Jael." She yelled and jumped on him.

"If you jump on like that, Mauve," he said as her arms tightened around his neck. "I can only take that as an invitation."

"Jael," she called but there was no annoyance in her tone.

She pulled away from him and he tried to kiss her but she rushed out of bed giggling.

"I have to go," she said. "Mill should be here already."

"Yeah," he said as he lay sideways on the bed. "I will co get you for the first al."

She smiled at him, blinked, and nodded before making her way to the connecting door.

She pushed the door open to see Mill sitting on the chair by her dresser.

Mauve," she called and stood to her feet.

"Mill," Mauve called. "I didn't know you were here already."

It didn't feel like she had overslept but it looked like that a little. Of course, typical Jael didn't wake her up.

However, she was going to take this as a good sign. If she could sleep for this long even though Vae was with that evil vampire, she would take it as a sign that Vae wouldn't be there for too long.

"I was worried I might have to knock." She rushed to Mauve and lightly placed her hand on her shoulders.

"Sorry, I didn't even know I overslept. Jael didn't wake , he never wakes ."

"How are you?" Mill asked, her stare intense.

"I am fine," she said, suddenly feeling sad again. She knew what Mill was talking about.

"I heard about Vae," Mill said.

Mauve nodded, "My father apparently gave her as a gift to Seraphino."

"That's awful!" Mill responded.

"I know," Mauve returned. She should probably stop referring to the King as her father, he surely didn't feel like one.

"Can Jael help her get back ho?"

"I don't know yet but I am hoping he can."

"I am sure he would be able to do that. He is the Primus. If anyone can figure this out, it would be him."

"Thank you, Mill. I hope you're right."

"I am. Don't worry so much. I am sure you're beside yourself with worry."

"I am not," she forced a laugh. "I am sure Jael can get her back ho. I will put my trust in him for now. Besides, worrying never helped anybody."

This was ironic because the one thing she was very good at was worrying but for so reason, she wasn't.

She had a very strong feeling Vae would be alright. Was it because of Jael's reassurance? Did he have that much power over her thoughts now to make her this certain about Vae's situation?

"Good," Mill said, shaking her head vigorously, obviously proud of Mauve's reply. "Let know if you need anything."

"Thank you," she said.

"Well then, let's help you with your bath."
