Chapter 344: Chapter 344

"Ti for a quick walk around the castle while your mommy works. Maybe your father will co back in the middle of it or we will see soone else for you to play with," Alia said, opening the door to leave to get back to her duties with Mara by her side.

After a quick dress change for Mara to match the green dress Alia wore and a small break to feed Mara, it was ti to leave for Mara to get her daily exploration of the castle.

The guards on the outside beca more tense seeing Alia walk out of the room with the young princess. Killian’s warning to not let anything happen to the two of them or he would throw every guard into the hottest fire he could find in the underworld, echoed in their heads.

A single fly should find difficulty getting close to the princess.

Alia tried her best to act like the guards did not exist. The castle was already filled with many guards to ensure every corner was well-protected thanks to Killian and the five guards she left in front of Mara’s room were enough, but now that number had tripled, and with every step Alia took, there were many footsteps heard behind her.

Alia let Killian do as he wanted so he wouldn’t be so worried about Mara’s safety when he was not present, but adding a guard each ti she looked away was starting to annoy her. At this rate, she would be walking around the castle with an army behind her.

All she wanted was a nice quiet walk with Mara. She didn’t mind the servants and a few guards who would follow her, but the number of guards behind her now was too much. Mara was easily distracted by the guards and looked behind Alia instead of looking in front at what Alia wanted to show her.

Alia quickened her pace as if it would help her to lose the guards, but it did not. As much as she liked being queen, she sought after a mont where she could be normal and walk around with her daughter without being disturbed. The only ti they weren’t interrupted or surrounded by people was when they stayed in their room.

Alia had to order the guards to stop knocking on the door every few minutes to ask if she and Mara were safe. They had excellent hearing to know that they were safe and there were demons flying around outside to spot any threats coming into her bedroom.

"Queen Alia. I can take the princess-"

"That won’t be necessary," Alia dismissed the maid.

She knew that they found it a bit odd to see her be with Mara so much instead of letting a maid take care of her, but they needed to get used to it. Just as she was queen, she was also a mother. Mara needed just as much attention as the kingdom.

"Mara, do you want to see the new flowers in the garden? Or maybe you want to see Loki? Please learn to talk quickly so we can do everything you want to do without

having to guess. I am becoming impatient to hear what you think of

and your crazy father-"

"Crazy? Are these the things you fill my daughter’s ears with when I am not around?" Killian questioned, coming from behind Alia to block her path. "You’re dismissed," he said to the guards behind her. There was no need for extra hands when he was present to protect his wife and child.

Mara kicked her feet, laughed, and made little noises as if she wanted to talk. She was excited to see her father who did not co to see her all day. She reached out to him, dropping her toy.

"Sure. Be more excited to see your father when I was the one to keep you fed while you were in

and I fed you not long ago. I think it is my ti to leave," Alia said, bending down to pick up the toy.

Touching the strange-looking toy made her feel like the real creature would haunt her in her dreams tonight.

"I will get back to what I was doing since she is happy to be with you. I was taking her for a walk before going to the throne room. Have fun with the walk," Alia said, holding out the toy for Mara to take.

"What do I need to do to have my wife greet

the sa way my daughter does? How can I get rid of your jealousy of our daughter being more excited to see ?" Killian asked.

He enjoyed seeing Alia upset when Mara would start kicking her legs and beating her hands on whoever was holding her to get to him, but then he would feel bad for her.

"She is only so excited to see

because I have been out of the castle-"

"You have only been out of the castle for one day. She greets

with a smile while she tries to fight

to get out of my arms to get to you. I am already aware that she likes you more than . There will always be a favourite parent even though no one wants to admit it. I find it to be cute so I don’t mind," Alia said, looking behind her at the empty space where the guards used to be.

"I will stay with the two of you a little longer since Alastor must be with Gina. We are to et with the court before dinner. We will soon be finished preparing for winter, but there is trouble stirring up between the group who call themselves priests and the demons who are tired of being bothered. We must co to a solution before the town starts to get restless."

Killian followed Alia, ignoring Mara’s lack of interest in her toy now that she got a handful of his hair and started to pull at it. "The solution is for those who are not happy to leave."

"I still think it can bring peace if we offer land for humans who want to only be around humans to live and order demons to not step foot on it. It will take us back to being divided, but for now, there will be peace. I don’t want human and demon families to be harassed any longer. Did you figure out why Lucifer’s son woke up?" Alia inquired.

"We have not learned how since no one visited where he rested. It’s best to leave it to the theory that they can wake up on their own without being disturbed so Lucifer is working to test that. His son won’t cause any trouble for this world. He’s more interested in spending ti with Lilith," Killian replied.

"The tales I keep hearing about their children made

worried about how Mara would be, but she is such a sweet child," Alia said, holding out her hands for Mara to co back to her, but Mara only looked away. She gave up trying to take Mara away from her sweet reunion with Killian.

"Their children were like Mara in the beginning. It was when their power grew when they reached certain ages that they changed because they didn’t know how to control what they possessed. I don’t worry about her so much since she has already started to show her power and I will start to teach her to control it in a few years. She will not need to be put to rest," Killian said, certain of it.

He also didn’t worry since Mara was a little bit human like Alia. She looked like a demon and had special abilities like a demon, but there was a small human side to her.

"What about my ritual to turn

into a demon? Is everything ready for

to go through with it?" Alia asked as it was the most important thing other than winter that she had to prepare herself for.

"It is ready. We will go through with it tomorrow night when the moon is in the sky. There is no turning back once it has started. I will not let anything happen to you," Killian promised, holding her hand to calm any thoughts she had now.

"I am not worried about it because I know that I will be safe. I am hoping the ti I will spend away from Mara will have her greet

as she did with you. She must or I might start crying that she doesn’t like

as much as her father. I want to try sothing," Alia said, letting go of Killian’s hand to pretend to walk away.

A smile slowly ford when she heard a soft cry coming from Mara the further she got away from where Killian stood. Alia didn’t stop walking until they beca louder to show that Mara missed her as much as she thought she should.

Alia turned around to join the two again and continue their ti together. "I am not going anywhere, Mara."

"That was cruel of you," Killian said, shaking his head at Alia. He opened his hand to show Mara a blue fla to calm her down from her mother’s trick.
