Chapter 343: Chapter 343

"Are you trying to say that my little princess is too much for you to handle?" Alia asked, touching the pretty pink dress Gina selected for the day. Alia once thought nothing could beat getting dresses for herself, but there was nothing better than picking out cute dresses for her daughter. "She sleeps like a little angel."

"Alia, I am happy that I can say this and you won’t get offended because it is true, but that child is a little demon. Far from an angel. Now that you are here, can I please take a break to have a mont alone?" Gina requested.

"Of course! I told Alastor I would send you out so you- And there she goes," Alia shook her head at the sound of Gina running out of the room.

Alia looked away from the sleeping child to Edith, who was still looking out the window. "What are you doing, Edith? What is so important out there?" Alia asked, peering out the window to see what had Edith so distracted, but she saw nothing.

"I’m afraid that if I look away I might fall asleep," Edith answered.

Alia frowned. "Why is it that the two of you are making my child sound so terrible? You can go get so rest, Edith. I will keep her by my side for the rest of the day. Mara is a joy to be around. You will never find a child more precious. Until you have one of your own, of course."

"You can say that because she is your child, but I am telling you, she causes a lot of trouble when you are not here," Edith said. "I will get a small nap."

Alia looked down at her baby once more and found it hard to believe that a child who was barely six months old would have Gina and Edith so stressed out.

Alia sat down on the chair beside the bassinet to watch Mara sleep. It would soon be ti for her to wake up so Alia had to rush her to be present the second Mara opened her eyes. She had quickly gotten used to the tis Mara liked to go to sleep and wake up so she could spend so ti with her daughter throughout the day.

With Killian out of the castle and unable to split so ti with Mara, Alia wanted to be here as much as she could to make up for Killian not being present. They had a goal to spend ti with Mara for a certain amount of hours throughout the day so they wouldn’t only see her at breakfast and dinner.

Alia picked up the book her mother started to make for Mara. Books with the sa adventures Anne created for Alia, but now there were more characters added. Like the evil toad who was the big villain in the book Alia was holding.

"I hope your grandmother will be the one to explain that the evil toad is your great grandmother and when you wish to know more about Margaret, she tells you that your other great-grandmothers still have her locked away in a cage and threaten to put her in a boiling pot of potions," Alia said.

Alia put back the book on the table and stuck her hand inside the bassinet to place her finger in Mara’s tiny hand. It was sothing she could not resist doing from the mont Mara was born. Her hand was just so tiny and then when her little fingers gripped her hand, Alia felt her heart lting.

Lilith offered to bring more souls to help Mara grow quickly, but Alia wanted to enjoy Mara as she was now. There was no need to rush Mara’s growth when the pregnancy already went by so fast. Ti didn’t matter to demons, but it did to Alia. She could not get back these days of Mara being this tiny and cute.

"Hello," Alia greeted when Mara’s grip on her finger beca stronger. "Are you awake now? Your mother is on ti again."

Alia stood up and with her free hand, she smoothed back the short white strands of hair Mara inherited from her father. Alia learned long before Mara’s arrival that the child might co out showing more signs of a demon than a human. At this age, Mara could not hide her white hair or bright red eyes like Killian used to do.

Alia smiled now that those ruby eyes she loved were wide open. "Did you enjoy your nap?" She asked as she lifted Mara from the bassinet. "Ah ha. Please put

down, Mara. Your mother doesn’t like to fly," Alia said, hoping Mara would understand what she ant today.

Her feet no longer touched the ground now that Mara was awake and in her arms. Mara smiled and reached for her mother’s hair while Alia panicked as she neared the ceiling. Mara sohow inherited Killian’s love for scaring her with flying.

"Please put your mother down, Mara. I can’t fly if you stop doing this and we start to fall. Now I see why Gina is so stressed. Thank you," Alia said, sighing in relief when she started to go back down to the floor.

She was yet to get used to these random monts of Mara using her abilities. Alia thought it would have taken a few years for Mara to start doing things like this based on what the books from the library in the north said, but Mara had monts of causing anything around her to float.

Killian explained that Mara wasn’t doing it because she wanted it, it just happened because of her emotions. When she got excited, things started to float. Make her angry and all the portraits on the walls would start flying around.

"Must you always try to scare ? I feel like you have heard I do not like flying when you were in my belly and decided to torture

with it when you ca out. Edith must have fed you a soul before you went to sleep so you cannot be hungry yet. How about we go for a little walk and then I will feed you when you get fussy? But first," Alia said, checking for any ss. "There isn’t any."

"Your father should return by dinner and maybe your grandmother will co to visit us soon. It has been a while since she and Leonard started to travel together. I should send a letter and tell her that her granddaughter misses her dearly and wants her to return," Alia said, looking around for the toy Mara liked to carry around.

Alia wanted it burned when she first saw Lucifer with it, but to her dismay, Mara took a liking to it. Alia was yet to figure out what animal the creature was supposed to be.

"Here is your...thing," Alia said, giving Mara the strange-shaped animal. She hoped to never see the real animal ever coming into the castle and already warned Lucifer not to bring it as a gift. "The castle is a bit cold so we should stay here for a little while before leaving. I will show you the kingdom."

Alia took Mara to the slightly opened window to let her look out at the town below where demons and humans lived together. There were still many complaints about demons in the town and all over the kingdom, but most of the kingdom wanted to move on with their lives.

As she expected, Alia had to deal with a new group of people who gave themselves the title of priests and asked for the temples to be opened again although they already were open. She didn’t know how much more open they wanted the temple to be unless she had Killian knock off the top of it.

They disobeyed every order she made and were starting to cause trouble for couples who were human and demon. They were free to leave this kingdom and look for sowhere only humans resided, but they chose to stay here to complain about demons.

"Soon you will experience your first winter here. The kingdom looks so magical when it is covered with clouds of snow. It will also be the first winter for

as a demon. I will change soon so I can live long and always watch over you. I look forward to the day you will sit on the throne. There won’t be anyone to argue against you becoming queen," Alia said, laughing as her hair beca undone thanks to Mara’s doing.

"One of the great joys in my life is knowing I have already secured your path to the throne that belongs to you. Your father and I will get rid of anyone who tries to go against it. I hope that you can continue to show why princesses deserve a chance on the throne. Mara," Alia chuckled as her feet left the floor again. "Please put

down before we fall."
