Chapter 342: Chapter 342

"How is

laying with you going to help change the room, Killian? Have I been tricked? Did I let you in here to help

only to lay in bed with you?" Alia asked.

She didn’t mind it since she missed being able to have a peaceful mont with Killian like this since they ca to this castle. Alia didn’t have to run off to do sothing or worry about soone. The north was more peaceful even with all the demons inside it and she missed that feeling.

"It is better for you to lay around and think about how you want to change the room instead of standing around. From here, you have a good view of the room and you won’t have to keep turning around. From here, I can see that we should have a mirror-"

"It is not going to happen," Alia said, turning down the idea of the mirror once more. "What if it were to suddenly drop while we are sleeping? As skilled as you are, I fear there might co a ti when you won’t be able to catch it in ti."

"You are no fun, Alia. If you would only listen to , we could have so much more fun with our intimacy. Where are we going to have the child resting when it arrives? I want it to be close by," said Killian.

"There is normally a room picked for the prince or princess to be cared for by maids and a wet nurse so the king and queen aren’t pulled away from their duties. My mother took care of everything concerning

so I would like to do the sa. Rather than a space to hold my dresses, we should make it the room for our child to use. We will be nearby to take care of them," Alia replied.

It solved her question of which room to pick for their child.

"There is no need for anyone but us to care for our child. I will not let just anyone be near my offspring," Killian said as he did not trust the humans here. He hardly trusts most of the demons around them. The child only needed its mother and father to care for its needs.

"I agree that we shouldn’t let just anyone care for our child, but we will not always be free to care for them. Tending to two lands will take our ti and there is no telling if you will ever need to leave the kingdom to deal with trouble. We have to find more people we can trust. There is already Gina and I have grown to trust Edith. We can find others to trust," Alia said, certain of it.

She had long broken down her walls and learned to trust others. They could not do everything when it ca to their children and the kingdom on their own. It was Killian who helped her to trust again and she did not want to take many steps back by not trusting others again.

Alia did not want to go back to second-guessing everyone’s actions as it eventually made her paranoid and an when she did not an to be.

"Guards, servants, and the right tutors. We have enough ti to find all of them. Please tell

that you are not going to beco an overprotective parent who won’t let their child out of their sight or let anyone get near. I don’t want our child to be like

with no friends until these last few years. It is not fun," Alia said, rolling around so she could face Killian.

His silence told her that he did plan to be an overprotective parent.

"As much as it amuses

to imagine you being a big guard of a father, you mustn’t stop them from being with others. Humans and demons since the land they rule will have both. I don’t want our child to ever be a ruler who has never spent ti with the people. I know how important our child is to you, but you mustn’t cage them in fear of what others might try," Alia said, gently touching Killian’s cheek to make his jaw less tense than it was now.

"Most of your enemies are gone, but I have enemies in the underworld that remain. Enemies who will not be happy to hear that I have children. Then there are the humans. I cannot trust that they will not plot to get demons off their land," Killian answered.

He was one of the few demons to like humans because of the way they lived, but he didn’t trust them. When they were driven by fear they did foolish things that cost them their lives in the end. He had seen them kill innocent humans out of fear simply because the person was different, but they were given the na witch.

He would not trust that there wouldn’t be at least one fool to try killing his children. He still had to get rid of all the priests and their secrets to killing demons.

"There will always be soone to try harming us. I will unfortunately make new enemies in the future and the sa can be said for you. We only need to be ready for any attacks. We will pick the best guards to protect our children and they will be trained by the best demon which is their father. Won’t they?" She asked, watching Killian press her hand to his cheek.

"They will," Killian agreed. From the mont they started to show signs of their power as a demon, he was going to teach them how to use it.

"Then there is no need for you to worry about the future. We will both plan to keep them safe and sound. I think we will have it all sorted out by the ti our child is here," Alia said, certain of her words. As long as they planned and kept an eye on what was going on around them where there was trouble, not a single hair on their child’s head would be touched.

Alia forgot about changing the room and thought about the future. She looked forward to the changes that would be made all around the two lands that had now beco one.

"Very well. I would like to add before you drift off to sleep that if I cannot have a mirror here, we should at least add one to the north," Killian said, refusing to give up on the mirror when so many thoughts about it filled his mind.

"Leave it to you to end a conversation about our child’s safety with wanting a mirror so you can watch us make love. I hope that our child will not inherit this from you. I will have to pray for their partner," Alia said, closing her eyes to rest so she would not have to listen to talk about a mirror any longer.

One year later.

"The farrs say that they have enough crops to get through the winter, but they will need to build more storage. The castle just received the offerings from the farrs as a thank-you for the money you sent them."

"Let them know that I will visit as soon as I can to see how the fields are doing and send each farr one of the wines we received. We have too much and in need of space in the storage. What about the orphanages? Are they prepared for when winter cos?" Alia asked as she rushed through the halls to get to an important eting she could not miss.

Alastor looked through the paper of reports he received in the morning. "They are requesting help with gathering extra wood to keep the children warm. I will have soone help them by the end of the day."

"Is there anything else I need to know about before I go inside? Have you heard from Killian? He must be trying to kill Lucifer right about now," Alia chuckled as she imagined how Killian must be in the underworld with a scowl.

"I have not heard from him yet. The ritual will take so ti to prepare, but the king will be back by midnight. It was interrupted by one of Lucifer’s sons waking up," Alastor reminded Alia.

They were yet to figure out why one of Lucifer’s children just woke up when their slumber was not disturbed by anyone. Now the demon had gotten enough of sleeping and wanted to stay awake. It was concerning since they had to worry about the other demons also waking up.

"Sothing always seems to happen when we are doing sothing important. Isn’t this a bit much?" Alia asked, slowing down when she reached the hall with the room she needed to enter. There were more guards now than there were when she was here in the morning. "Is this Killian’s doing?"

Alastor shook his head. "Lilith," he answered.

"I see. It is a competition between her and Killian for how many guards they can add. I will take a look at the other reports when I am finished here. I want to hear about the north when I co out. I will send out Gina so you can spend so ti with her," Alia said, walking down the hall into the sea of guards.

She stopped in front of the door which was not far away from the door to her bedroom. Alia knocked and then entered the room. She found Gina sitting in a chair with her eyes closed and Edith standing, looking out the open window.

"I think it is ti for the two of you to have a break. I hope there was not a lot of trouble this ti," Alia whispered, tip-toeing to the bassinet where a little one laid.

"That is not a normal baby," Gina muttered. She wasn’t in need of a break. She was in need of a vacation far out of the castle for a few months.
