39: Chapter 38: Infinity 39: Chapter 38: Infinity Sunny Nguyen’s face turned cold in an instant as she gritted her teeth and said, “No way, don’t even think about it.”

Jas Brown imdiately showed a look of utter surprise and said, “Really?

Are you serious, Director Nguyen?”

When Sunny Nguyen sought out Jas Brown today, she hoped for the best outco—that Jas Brown would simply agree not to bring up the matter again and that the two of them could act as if nothing had happened.

But she knew this possibility was minuscule, and this hope stemd only from Jas Brown’s behavior in the bar, which had convinced her that he wasn’t soone who would cause trouble for others.

However, she had not expected Jas Brown to be so shaless as to still want to maintain that kind of relationship with her, which deaned her.

Sunny Nguyen had made a mistake, but she wouldn’t continue making it, so she refused even to consider it.

“You can propose any other conditions and we can discuss them, but I will absolutely not agree to this one,” Sunny Nguyen emphasized her bottom line once again.

Jas Brown touched his head, shook it, and then sat back down, looking helpless as he said, “It seems that being a white-collar worker really isn’t easy.

It’s only been three days since I started working, and I guess I’m already resigning.”

Jas Brown’s comnt was out of the blue and left Sunny Nguyen confused, but she quickly got scared.

His words implied he would rather lose his job than compromise with her.

At that thought, her face turned ghastly pale, drained of all color.

Taking a deep breath, Sunny Nguyen fixed her gaze on Jas Brown and said, “Jas, you need to know when to stop pushing.

Don’t push into a corner.

You could ask around; I, Sunny Nguyen, am not soone you can easily bully.” But her words seed sowhat lacking in confidence.

Jas Brown shook his head repeatedly, a look of grievance on his face as he said, “I’m telling you, Director Nguyen, I haven’t bullied you.

I’m just saying we should keep the relationship where you’re the director and I’m just an employee, but you won’t even allow that.

You’re forcing out of the company, isn’t that too unreasonable?

What else do you want from ?”

“What?” Sunny Nguyen suddenly stood up, her eyes fixed intently on Jas Brown.

Jas Brown leaned back, looking frightened, and stamred, “Director Nguyen, what do you want to do?

I’m telling you, we agreed that day, it was consensual, and there should be no strings attached afterwards.

You don’t intend to hold on to , do you?

I’m not even married yet, just let go.”

“You…

you…” Sunny Nguyen stuttered, and then suddenly burst out laughing, sitting back down as she scolded, “You jerk, you’re just trying to scare , aren’t you?”

By then, Jas Brown wasn’t pretending to be aggrieved anymore and chuckled, saying, “Director Nguyen, you’re too tense, so I was just joking with you.

Don’t mind .”

“You really scared .

I thought you were a terribly greedy jerk,” Sunny Nguyen said sharply as she glared at Jas Brown, but her face showed a smile.

She had been nervous for so long, afraid all day, and in the end, this was the outco, which made it hard for Sunny Nguyen to hide her pleasure.

Jas Brown said cheerfully, “Although I’m not rich, I still understand the rules of the ga.

You can rest assured, Director Nguyen, if you still invite to the bar today, I wouldn’t mind another ‘one-night affair,’ but not here, I wouldn’t dare.”

“I shouldn’t take you to that bar,” Sunny Nguyen said in a playful tone, her face suggesting a flirty deanor.

Jas Brown imdiately put on a lovesick expression and said, “I’m telling you, Director Nguyen, don’t seduce .

You’re making it hard for to resist.”

At this point, Sunny Nguyen was not afraid of Jas Brown at all and glared at him as she said, “You’d better keep it in check.

Rember, I’m going to be your finance director.

If you don’t behave and ignore what I say, just wait and see when you want to get reimbursed, if I will sign it off for you.”

“Oh my God, this is totally a personal vendetta.”

“Jas Brown, it serves you right for not keeping your mouth shut.”

Jas Brown finished the wine in his glass in one gulp and said, “The wine is gone, and we’ve nearly finished the al, so I should be going.”

“Leaving so soon?” Sunny Nguyen asked reflexively.

Jas Brown chuckled and said, “I’m off to hunt at the bar.

Director Nguyen, do you want to join?”

“Get out of here, you big-headed pervert.

Just go,” Sunny Nguyen said, waving her hand in agitated dismissal.

Jas Brown laughed heartily, turned, and strode out.

Indeed, Sunny Nguyen was an impressive woman.

He would love a few more ‘one-night affairs,’ but since they all worked at the sa company, it would be awkward to proceed with such entanglents, so Jas Brown gave up the idea.

After Jas Brown left, Sunny Nguyen sat in the private room in a daze for a while.

This way of resolving the situation had indeed been beyond her expectations, but it clearly was the best solution.

“That jerk, going off to play at the bar again, such a big lecher.” For so reason, the idea of Jas Brown going out to the bar to hunt made Sunny Nguyen very angry, very annoyed, and she even felt the urge to stop him.

But stopping him would lead to what?

Another ‘one-night stand’ with this guy?

Sunny Nguyen startled herself with the thought.

She had made a mistake once and couldn’t make it again.

Even if her husband had wronged her first, Sunny Nguyen was not that kind of woman.

She wouldn’t repeat the sa mistake—not because of her unfaithful husband, but because she was inherently a conscientious person.

Jas Brown didn’t head to the bar to drown his sorrows as he used to; he didn’t need a woman to vent his negative emotions anymore.

Occasionally going to the bar to hunt for pretty won was fun, but doing it every day would kill the charm.

Returning to his room, he heard a banging noise coming from the wall of the bedroom—clang, clang, quite irritating to the ear.

The noise seed to co from the apartnt on the left, the flight attendant’s place.

Jas initially thought it would soon stop, but to his dismay, the noise went on and off endlessly.

Finally unable to bear it anymore, he went over and knocked on the flight attendant’s door.

After a while, the door cracked open, and the flight attendant peeked out, cautiously asking, “What do you need?”

Frowning, Jas replied, “I an, sister, what are you doing?

In the middle of the night, aren’t you letting people sleep?”

“Ah!

Sorry, sorry, I was hamring a nail,” the flight attendant quickly apologized, sticking her tongue out at Jas playfully.

Jas couldn’t help but smile and offered, “Do you need so help?”

“Really?

Would you help ?”

“What’s the big deal?

It’s just hamring a couple of nails, a small task as long as you let into your place.”

The flight attendant’s face changed imdiately, and she nervously looked at Jas, unable to speak.

“Well, how about this—I’ll co over and help tomorrow during the day.

It’s the middle of the night now; you’re not scared, but I’m worried you might take advantage of .” With that, Jas turned and left.

“Ah, I trust you, co help ,” the flight attendant suddenly called out from behind him.

Jas waved his hand, saying, “Let’s make it tomorrow.

It’s late, and the noise from hamring can be heard upstairs and downstairs.

It’s simply a public nuisance, and I don’t want the neighbors coming over to complain.”

Watching Jas really enter his apartnt and close the door, the flight attendant was sowhat taken aback.

All the n she had t always tended to cater to her every desire, but this man had refused her.

This sparked her curiosity about Jas—what kind of man was he exactly?

The next day, Jas arrived at the office on ti.

There were many people in front of the elevators; even with three elevators, it might take more than two goes to get a ride.

It was an unavoidable situation.

During rush hours, the elevators were always crowded, and though Jas used to think his security guard colleagues were superior in their patience compared to these office workers, now he also had to wait.

Behind him ca the rapid, rhythmic sound of high heels; without turning, Jas knew it was Gina Lopez approaching.

Turning around, Jas greeted her with a smile, “Hello, Ms.

Lopez.”

Gina nodded, her face expressionless.

To her, Jas was just an employee and the fact that he had pretended to be her boyfriend over the holidays wouldn’t change this, especially inside the company where she couldn’t let their personal connection be known.

Although Gina was a boss, she was only one of the bosses in the building, which housed twenty companies across twenty-eight floors.

Even if other company’s employees recognized her, they wouldn’t necessarily try to ingratiate themselves with her.

Thus, she had to wait for the elevators like everyone else.

At that mont, Sunny Nguyen also arrived, greeted Gina first, and then nodded at Jas, who, as promised the day before, treated her with polite courtesy.

Sunny looked at Jas briefly before saying to Gina, “Ms.

Lopez, I’ve gotten a better understanding of the company’s finances and have so thoughts.

If you have ti later, I’d like to discuss them with you.”

Gina nodded, replying, “I was also thinking of discussing so company matters with Director Nguyen.”

With too many people around, Gina and Sunny only exchanged a few words about the general stuff, saving the specifics for later as they waited for the elevator like everyone else.

After another group ascended, Jas, Gina, and Sunny finally squeezed into the elevator.

These past few days of taking the elevator were quite enjoyable for Jas because during these monts, many female office workers were pressed close together, which was normal.

Although he wouldn’t make a move inside an elevator, the unavoidable physical contact still pleased him.

However, today was different.

Today he was packed into an elevator with two senior corporate executives, standing right next to them—a thrilling experience for any man.
