The Soul System in the Apocalypse Chapter 56: The Real Apocalypse Descends

Crystal City.

This was a city that was previously vibrant and filled with a lot of people. Since the city was boarded with a water body, there was a port that had been built here.

For this reason, there had been several developnt projects that have been developed in this city, making it one of the biggest cities present in the blazing continent.

But currently, almost everything was in ruins. Strewn bodies of both humans and wild animals were scattered in the streets. The sll of blood wafted in the air, making all the humans that were currently hiding uncomfortable.

From ti to ti, people could see a wild animal moving from place to place. And, occasionally, there would be soone that had managed to hide all this while being chased by a lion or other types of ferocious animals.

Screams were heard once in a while, before finally disappearing. The city that was bustling a few days ago, had finally descended into a period of silence that was disrupted periodically by screams and roars.

Due to the fact that the city possessed a great population, the number of deaths that have been encountered was also high. And of course, sothing that the residents of the city could not understand was the fact that, they were not surrounded by any forest that habituated the wild animals, but they had suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

This was a question that was yet to get answers. The police had tried ensuring that everything went back to the way it was before, however, even with the guns that they possessed, they were not able to deal with the large number of attacking monsters.

Accidents had occurred, and several people had already been killed. The luxury cars that people would always make a fuss about if there was a scratch on it, were now bent in weird shapes.

During this period, it was finally ti for the underworld to utilize this chance that chaos had erupted, to show their prowess.

Since there was no law, they thought that they could do anything. In case they t with a police officers, they would of course kill them off. So of them even began stealing what they liked.

But of course, all of this was just montarily. The mont that the wild animals ca for the second round, all these people were forced to scatter.

Now, even though there were several mutant warriors present in Crystal city, they were not capable enough of clearing all the monsters that were present in the city.

This mutant warriors had realized that, during the first wave, the strength of the monsters was low. And for that reason, even an ordinary person with a gun could easily kill several of them before he or she was overwheld by their sheer numbers.

During the second wave, that was the ti that the monsters that possess incredible strength and speed appeared. During this ti, those that possessed guns were not given a chance to shoot, before they were torn to pieces.

And to make matters worse, the third wave of monsters ca. And during this ti, these monsters were even stronger than the previous ones. And the numbers was also incredible.

Although it was true that the number of mutant warriors present in Crystal City was low, that was just comparing them to the total population of Crystal City. Crystal City previously possessed a population of over 30 million people.

But, it was going to be a miracle if even 5% of the total population managed to beco mutant warriors, not to ntion surviving.

Just as midnight was approaching, the eerie and gloomy sky suddenly darkened further. And in the next mont, all the mutant warriors present in the city suddenly got a bad feeling about this.

And, the mont that it struck midnight, the sky finally turned blood red. Following this, a lot of pressure suddenly descended from the sky and pressed upon all the living beings below.

The pressure was so imnse that, all those that had not yet beco mutant warriors fell onto the ground.

This went on for about 5 minutes, before finally, the pressure that had been pressing upon every living being suddenly disappeared.

That was a mont of calm, as even the monsters that had been previously running rampant in the city suddenly remained in place. Additionally, their eyes were moving from side to side, as if they were cautious about sothing.

Inside one of the houses, there was a couple. The husband was holding his wife in his embrace, as he tried to calm her down. The things that they had experienced on this day was too traumatic for her.

When the pressure that had descended on them suddenly disappeared, the man suddenly realized that his wife had gone unconscious.

He panicked as he tried to wake her up. "Honey, what’s wrong with you? Don’t scare , please wake up!" He carried her and placed her on his lap, as he tried shaking her awake.

When he noticed that none of this was working, he imdiately placed her down, before rushing towards the kitchen. He wanted to get water to try and wake her up.

His body was already shaking as he thought of so probabilities. But at least, what had cald him down a little was the fact that, his wife was still breathing.

After clumsily getting the water, he rushed towards the living room. But, he was surprised by what he saw.

He suddenly saw that his wife was on her feet, and, she had her back on him. The man finally released a sigh of relief as he said, "Phew! You scared a little there. But please, can you tell what happened?"

As he asked, he began approaching her. The next mont, he grabbed her shoulder, as he turned her to face him.

Crack! Crack!

The next mont, his wife’s body suddenly began cracking. It was as if all the bones that were in her body were being stretched after a long period of dormancy.

"Hm? When did you learn that?" The man asked in surprise. He knew that there were several people that always tried boasting about being capable of cracking their joints. But this was the first ti that he had seen his wife doing that.

When he did not receive the response, he looked at his wife’s face carefully and noticed that her eyes were closed. "Why are you closing your eyes?" He asked in confusion. At the sa ti, he couldn’t help but wonder about how his wife was behaving strangely.

Instead of response, his wife suddenly opened her eyes. But this ti, it was not the color that he was used to. Instead, the color of her eyes had changed to blood-red.

Roar!

Before the man could even register what was happening, the wife whom he was holding by her shoulders, suddenly grabbed one of his hands that was holding her.

In the next mont, she closed her jaw tightly, biting him. And as the intense pain hit him, the man’s eyes widened in disbelief as he couldn’t believe the actions of his wife.

The two of them had been living peacefully, and had never had any intense argunt. So, he of course couldn’t understand the action that his wife had taken.

As he tried to bear the pain that he was feeling, he asked in a trembling voice, "What are you doing, honey? Did I do sothing wrong? Ouch! That hurts! Stop biting already and let us talk!"

When he noticed that the wife was not stopping, the man was forced to use the strength that he possessed to pull back his hand.

But as he pulled back his hand, flesh was suddenly torn out of the hand due to the force that he had used to pull the hand back.

"Aargh!"

The man scread in agony, as he held the hand that was already bleeding profusely. At the sa ti, he looked at his wife who was looking at him as if he was the most delicious food ever.

"Y-you! What did you do just now?!" At this mont, he was already angry at the fact that his hand had already lost a quarter of flesh. But still, he couldn’t bring himself to beat the wife that he had lived together with for a long ti.

In response to his question, the wife suddenly jumped on him. The man had not expected sothing like that, and was suddenly brought to the ground.

The next mont, as the man was struggling to push his unusually strong wife away, he suddenly felt that she had already bitten his neck.

Additionally, like a koala, she had latched on him and no matter how hard he attempted to push her away, she wasn’t showing any intention of letting him go.

The man had already lost his voice as his neck had already been bitten. In just a few seconds, his body began twitching furiously, as he finally lost his breath.

When the wife finally noticed that the man was dead, she got to her feet, and began staggering in the room, walking without any plans.

And after 10 minutes had gone by, the husband’s corpse that was on the ground suddenly began twitching. At the sa ti, his bones began cracking.

Then, the eyes that had been wide open suddenly beca bloodshot. And the next mont, the man struggled to get back on his feet in an impossible way of twisting his body.

And after that, just like his wife, he also began staggering around the room, without any destination.

What occurred here, had also occurred in several other places as well. And as such, the city that had suddenly beco quiet, was suddenly filled with screams and inhumane roars once again.

At this mont, zombies had finally descended, completing the descent of the apocalypse on the human world.

It was also at this ti that in front of every survivor, a screen suddenly appeared in front of them.
