After hanging up the phone, Gu Nanxi grabbed his car keys and headed out. When the car arrived, Zhong Li was already waiting at the company entrance.
Seeing Gu Nanxi’s car stop in front of her, Zhong Li opened the door and got in.
"Does Qi Shangyu always work his employees to death?"
Gu Nanxi’s company has collaborations with Qi Shangyu’s, so the two know each other, but it’s strictly a work relationship.
"No, it’s choosing to work overti." Zhong Li bowed her head and fastened her seatbelt.
Gu Nanxi didn’t say anything further, he turned the steering wheel and got onto the main road.
Recently, Gu Nanxi hadn’t done anything to overstep boundaries with Zhong Li; he only occasionally went to her place to have als.
The car quickly stopped at a restaurant, Gu Nanxi turned around and looked at Zhong Li: "You haven’t eaten yet, have you?"
"No."
"Then get out, let’s eat together." Gu Nanxi unbuckled his seatbelt and pushed the car door to get out.
Zhong Li also got out of the car, following behind Gu Nanxi into the restaurant.
They had just walked in and saw Qi Shangyu dining with a woman, Qi Shangyu noticed them too.
"President Gu, you are...."
Qi Shangyu knew Zhong Li had previously worked as Gu Nanxi’s assistant, but didn’t expect them to be familiar enough to dine together after work.
"President Qi." Zhong Li greeted Qi Shangyu.
Gu Nanxi glanced at Zhong Li following him, smiled and spoke: "I brought her to eat."
"If President Gu doesn’t mind, why not all eat together?" Qi Shangyu suggested looking at Gu Nanxi.
"We won’t interrupt, you two enjoy your al." Just as Gu Nanxi was taking a step forward, he turned back: "In the future, try not to make Zhong Li work overti. I don’t feel at ease when she goes ho late alone."
Qi Shangyu’s gaze fell on Zhong Li: "You worked overti just now?"
"Yes, sorting so docunts. We’ll go eat now." Zhong Li pointed to a nearby table.
Qi Shangyu nodded: "Alright."
Zhong Li walked to the table in high heels, sat down, and looked unhappily at Gu Nanxi who was ordering: "What did you an earlier, why say that?"
"Just what it sounded like, is it hard to understand?"
Gu Nanxi, still looking down, flipped through the nu with his distinct, bony fingers.
"You said you don’t feel at ease when I go ho late, as if there’s sothing between us."
"I wish there were sothing, but you don’t agree."
Gu Nanxi pointed at several dishes on the nu, looked up and told the waiter, "Please serve quickly, she’s hungry."
The waiter accepted the nu from Gu Nanxi, a standard smile on his lips: "Certainly, sir."
"In the future, if you work overti again, call . I’ll pick you up." Gu Nanxi said, resting his hands on the table and looking at Zhong Li.
"Thanks, but no need." Zhong Li simply turned her head to look out the window.
"I really don’t know why you’re upset. Is it because you have feelings for Qi Shangyu and didn’t want to say that in front of him?"
Gu Nanxi didn’t know if Zhong Li liked Qi Shangyu, but Qi Shangyu’s gaze towards Zhong Li was quite off.
"Are you nuts, Gu Nanxi?"
"I’m glad you don’t like him." Gu Nanxi shrugged, grabbed the glass of water on the table and took a sip.
The waiter soon served the dishes, Gu Nanxi took chopsticks, picked up a piece of sashimi, dipped it in sauce, and brought it to Zhong Li’s mouth.
Zhong Li frowned while watching him: "I have my own hands."
