Chapter 126

The hallway was quiet. Everyone was already in the arena as it was two minutes past 8:00. She saw Madam Portia waving at her by the reception behind the desk. She responded to her sweet smile with a curt nod and went straight to the corridor beside the arena. It was the way of the conference room.

There were no extra n for added security. But she couldn’t be complacent. Maybe they were waiting inside the eting room. And she’d be damned if it was ABD ready. It could slow her down, but she wouldn’t retreat from it. She couldn’t wait another day, another chance for the hunters to slice open a child’s brain, to tie down another female for breeding, and most especially, to breathe the sa air with her goddamn excuse of a family of traitors and murderers.

She fished sothing from her pockets and pulled it out. She scanned her card at the door since Gea told her the last day that she had access to the conference room as one of the mbers of a team.

The door opened, and she was greeted with glares and scowling faces.

"Lorwey, when can you not be late for once?!" Exclaid by one of the mbers. They were already sitting around the table.

She flinched from that sudden outburst. "I’m sorry. It would never happen again." The door closed behind her, and she approached the empty seat at the other end of the rectangular table.

It would never be repeated because this is the last session.

She didn’t dare look at the front. She can feel Josh’s nacing stare at her.

Stare hard. In just a few minutes you wouldn’t be seeing this pretty face anymore.

The others didn’t voice out their annoyance at her being late anymore and turned away from her. She placed her laptop on the table and pulled the swivel chair to sit herself down. She opened her equipnt and started on completing her job.

She also opened her senses if there was ABD inside, but it appeared that there wasn’t. She tried hard not to show the winning grin that wanted to split from her mouth.

Josh, in the front, was talking about what they found in the forest. Even opening the images of her in the suburbs, which he explained to the rest, why she was there. She didn’t pay any attention to what he was saying anymore. His voice sounded far away from her focus.

The echo of her working fingers distracted Josh so that he got her attention. "Lorwey, what could you be working on that it seems like your fingers were flying over the keyboard?"

"Don’t mind . I’m having a great ti here undiscovering your target. Just go on with the discussion. I’m listening." She answered without even averting her gaze from the screen.

lisca knew the CCTV at the corner behind her might have seen what she was doing. She already calculated the risk. She was betting with the odds that the people behind the cara wouldn’t catch on that fast to what she was doing on her laptop.

"Lorwey, we went to your little cabin up in the mountain." Josh stated.

Her hand froze at the keyboard. Her ears caught the word cabin. She raised her eyes over the laptop.

"Yes? What about it? What did you discover?" Her successive questions. If they had violated her parents grave, they would see what would happen to them. But regardless of that, sothing would really happen to them. She just needed the right mont.

"Nothing really. But may I ask why you decided to have their graves on that mountain?"

"It’s for privacy." She answered directly. She resud working on her laptop.

"Are you close to finding out about our target?"

"Uh-huh." She nodded, not looking at any of them, as the mbers’ eyes were all in her direction. "Just give a minute more." She was seeing the surveillance videos on the computer. They looked like tiny boxes on her screen. She was even watching the guys in the surveillance room that weren’t paying attention to the monitors. Their backs were turned on it as they were having their breakfast and coffee party at the table. That made her chuckle a little.

"Sloppy fools." She didn’t mind voicing out her thought of the heedless n behind the caras. The people inside the room had their brows furrowed in confusion. Her fingers were flying away on the keyboard. She pressed the one last tap. "Done!" She announced. She picked up her knuckle gloves from her pocket and wore them on her hands.

The caras in the surveillance room went awry. All went static and silver lines waved on the screens. Like the monitoring in the whole building. The n in charge of them were confused about what happened. They tried to fix the problem for maybe it was just a technical error.

In the conference room, lisca was smiling at everyone. "May I introduce to you, Calicia Wyrs!" She rotated the laptop at them, and on the screen was her smiling face that she had just captured before she stood up from her seat.

Before anyone could open their mouths, she moved swiftly to the nearest mber and twisted her neck. A cracking sound was too loud in her ears. But it was a lodic noise for her. And then she moved to the next one. She doesn’t want to get bloody yet, so she only did the basic bone cracking. To the others, they weren’t fast enough to stand up, so she banged two heads at once on the table. The impact broke the surface, and she was sure also the skulls were in her grip. Blood splattered on the table that was also broken in half.

She grunted. It was too early to be bloody. The others finally got to move from the shock that made them paralyzed on their seats. They were about to pull out sothing from their waist. lisca leapt to the other side of the table and jabbed woman’s throat, which got her made a choking sound. She then punched her chest. The woman was thrown on the wall and she doesn’t have ti to make sure she was dead for another attack was coming her way. She was about to grabbed for the man’s wrist but she saw in the corner of her eye that her laptop was on the floor.

She still needs that thing. She made a quick move of grabbing the man anyway and twisted his arm behind him. She pulled his body closer, making him the shield of the upcoming bullets from the standing mbers. Josh was on his phone.

Oh, shit. That’s not good. Too early for their backup.
