"What culprit?" I whispered hurriedly.

Darius tilted his head. "Why are you worried?" He spoke as he wondered. " This should be the least of your concerns Genevieve." He bowed slightly, " now if you excuse ." He nodded and within the blink of an eye he vanished.

Diwal turned to imdiately, "Uh . . ."

"We should go," I glanced at the Diwal with worried eyes along with fear in them. That was what we could do. For all I know he was just bluffing. He must be. How was it his concern if any human in this country was bitten?

As we walked up the stairs to my room, I could not help but wonder if he knew whose blood it was?

*******

I was getting ready for dinner in my room. Dorothy was combing my hair and I enjoyed every bit of it. It had been a long ti since I had my hair made. Dorothy made a beautiful braid.

"It is lovely," I pressed as I ran my hand over the details. She had braided thin strands of hair before joining everyone into the long one that ran down my back.

"Thank you," she blushed and smiled. "Sir Solomon well not on your do when it is ti to leave. Do you need for anything else, Your Highness?"

Turning around, I shook my head, "No thank you Doro—"

The doors banged open and I jumped slightly at the noise. rilyn walked in and closed the doors behind her but stopped when she saw with Dorothy. "Uh.."

Understanding what she ant, I nodded and continued, "thank you Dorothy I don’t think I will be needing you further."

She nodded, bowing, "I shall check on you before you retire to bed." rlin’s eyes watched the entire way to the door and then she stood silently.

I began to speak only for Marilyn to March towards the door and open it. "I think she asked you to leave." She snapped and then closed the door. "I cannot believe it! I always left when you asked to and here they are listening through the door!"

"What can I help you with Marilyn?" I asked as I touched the braid, "you did not co here to escort to the dinner."

She ca closer but stood instead of sitting on the small chair next to the dressing table. " There will be no dinner for today. If you want I can ask the questions to save you in your room. The others are having it in the rooms too."

I frowned. "Why?"

She shook her head. " I don’t think it was supposed to co out but soone bit a human."

My eyes widened. "What? For real?"

She nodded. "It would have stayed hush hush but King Darius ca to know and imdiately told king Tristan about it. All can have strict policies regarding that which is why Aron is going to be punished now."

"Aron?" I recalled the interaction I had with him at the wagon port. I had teased him so much that he panicked completely. "He bit soone?" I found that hard to believe.

rylin nodded. "He was struggling slightly with the bloodlust and it did not help, when in his defence, he told us that the human purposely cut their hand in front of him." She rubbed her forehead in distress. "We cannot make changes or make people fearless vande go around and tempt us with the only saying we have as our weakness."

"Darius knew?" That was on my mind.

rilyn nodded. "Soone told him and he refuses to tell us the na. I think Sir Dawson would have kept quiet but now everyone knows Aron will be punished."

Oh my God, I realised, what have I done? I didn’t even know if soone else was in the rooms beside and there was a human inside them with the bite mark bitten by none other than soone I knew!

I had just said that to Darius because I wanted to save Lysar and my knowledge about his whereabouts and the condition he was held. I had absolutely no idea how this horrifying turn could co.

I looked away and in the mirror. "What punishnt would he be given?" I hid my fidgeting hands by playing with the braid.

"I do not know yet." She scored, "it really depends on what the king wants. It could be simple lashes and it could be a deadly punishnt in the sun."

Deadly? "How is it the sun?"

"No one is born with sun protection. Everyone has one kind of enchanted jewellery. We always have it on us." She held her Necklace out to which she had taken out from under her dress. "This is mine."

I stared at it before nodding. My heart pounded very loudly and I knew that rilyn could tell because Tristan could easily do so. I called on Aron. I did that.

"You do not need to worry princess," rylin rested her hand on my knee. "You have no fault here."

This entire event could have gone unnoticed and he would have won and been punished. If the human had slit its wrist in front of Aron knowing what would happen then he was at fault not the vampire.

"Why is Tristan not considering the defence of his friend?"

rilyn leaned back, taking her hand off of my knee. "Well, we do need to win the favour of humans and to get rid of their fear the king needs to be. . . A little biased towards their side." Her face twisted and she was not happy with what was happening.

Neither was I.

An idea crossed my mind. I had stopped Tristan from punishing rilyn which ant that I might be able to do the sa here. Aron was not at fault.

"Where is he?" I asked her and she widened her eyes.

"Why?" She whispered hurriedly. "Don’t." She warned but by the ti she had warned I had already stood up and was walking towards the door.
