He looked revolted by what I had just told him. He did not seem like he believed my words. "Why do you say that Genevieve? Where have I failed?"

I stared at him before I smiled. Alright then, if he wanted to know then I was going to tell him everything I said.

"Do you rember when you followed to the won’s house after arts in my reliance quotes? When you followed into an Ally where I cried?" He nodded with uncertainty, he did not know where this was going. I continued, "do you rember how badly I was crying because I found out that Marilyn was dead and no one sympathized with her rather people accusing her of doing black magic and having abducted?"

His eyes and facial expressions were no longer revolted. Now he was just sad as I was because he realised where this was going.

"Did you not pity even once to tell that she was alive and fine there was a chance that I would ever et again?" I sniffed and repeatedly blinked my eyes looking away from his face to not let the tears fall.

"The problem is you don’t understand what happened with continuously. I did love you Tristan," his eyes t mine, "I was late to realise it but yes I did love you and I had to leave you to carry out my duty on which thousands of people depended. Then on the very day that I got married to another man I was accused of being a whore and not only that but my own father did not stand by !"

I gulped and sniffed, "I was being hunted down like prey for them to kill . I was the one that was to be killed that night. I was to die Marilyn took my death for and do you know how I felt?" I whispered to him.

"It broke ." I whispered to him, " it broke into pieces and then it shattered to see her standing there giggling in bed with Allen as everything was alright."

I had felt so betrayed by Allan to not go into mourning as Marilyn’s widower for a year rather than spending the night with concubines.

I felt betrayed enough to march into his room without caring of his indecency after what had happened with in the jungle.

"I was raped too," I finally revealed it to soone. Even though he was already aware it was the first ti I had admitted to myself and to soone else.

"Do you know how much I wanted Marilyn to be there for ? My sister’s could not be there either."

"I was there, my love." He kneeled beside and took my hands in with a desperate expression on his face. "I was there Genevieve. I was there when you faced it."

I shook my Adamantly. "I never saw you in any of it, however I do appreciate you holding my hand after the unfortunate events in the north."

"I was with you," he said again and his jaw clenched, "not with you directly but I have always kept my eyes on you. Do you think it was a coincidence that you made Allen in the market? I was there as well."

I stare at him before smiling to myself. What were we talking about? I was no longer planning to stay here so talking about the past did not matter anymore.

"Thank you for that then." I told him watching as his eyes moved to naive confusion.

I was confused too.

I glanced at his lips and then rembered what happened last night.

Perhaps, just once I could give myself the taste of what I could hold onto forever.

I bridged the distance in between us and placed my lips on his before kissing him deeply.

He reciprocated and I felt his hand on my cheek. I placed our heads together.

"You said you loved ," he whispered against my lips, "Why don’t you love now?"

I smiled, of course he would notice that. "I do not know." My mind was blank. "People change unexpectedly."

"But you don’t." He replied and kissed my lips again briefly, "you don’t change delivery. You don’t change without any reason. So why would you stop loving ?"

I pulled back.

I did not know.

"I need to go," I stood up leaving him kneeling in front of the chair.

Once I reached the doors I looked back at him who had stood up but was looking at expectantly. I knew what he was expecting from but I was not sure if I could give him that or not. I want to say goodbye but instead I just turned around and walked away.

******

I once again waited for the night to fall and as soon as it did, I held my lamp in my hands and walked the sa path as I had did yesterday night.

I had noticed that there was a ti when Solomon and Bert would leave. Perhaps it was the change of Guards but this was useful to .

He was waiting for . Instead of sleeping like last night on the small cot, he appeared to be sitting on it and as soon as he saw the light he imdiately ca to the bars.

"Genevieve," he breathed out, "how are you?" He smiled and for the first ti I did not receive a smile that was full of arrogance.

"Good," I answered him. Since she was alone in the prison cell I wanted to give him a small piece of conversation. "Give the give you soon enough? If you want I can bring you so eateries next ti."

He shook his head, "you coming here is enough."

I nodded. "I will have us leave soon." I told him. "You will have to endure for quite so ti. It might be a week or two."

"I’ll be fine." He smiled. "Good night."

I did not wish him back but turned around to leave. After all what was good anymore?
