"Why wait for another day, let’s settle this today."
A cold voice arose from behind. Before Mo Su could react, a silver needle pierced her shoulder.
In an instant, a numbing sensation spread down her entire arm, leaving her unable to muster any strength.
Mo Su’s hand dropped powerlessly, her face deeply embarrassed.
Seizing the opportunity, Mo Chen pushed Mo Su aside and ran over to Ye Jiuliang’s side.
"Sister Ajiu."
Ye Jiuliang glanced at him, her gaze pausing at the bruise on his mouth, "Are you alright?"
Mo Chen shook his head, "I’m fine."
"Ye Jiuliang, what did you do to ?" The feeling of weakness gradually spread throughout her body, and Mo Su’s steps beca unsteady, almost causing her to lose her balance.
Ye Jiuliang’s lips slightly curved upwards, "Didn’t you want to settle accounts? Tell , how would you like to settle this?"
She glanced over to Ji Mingqian and then to the injury on Jiang Yisheng’s face, her delicate features imdiately turned cold.
It seed that the silver needle had been too lenient.
As her strength faded, Mo Su finally panicked. Seeing Ye Yuan had also arrived, she looked at him with pleading eyes, "Dad, save , I was frad by them, please help ."
Like mother, like daughter— both so adept at shirking responsibility with identical excuses.
Ye Jiuliang curved her lips, her eyes glinting mischievously, "Who is your dad? I forgot to remind you of sothing— he is not your father, don’t claim relationships out of nowhere."
Mo Su frowned, "What do you an by that?"
Ye Jiuliang had no intention of explaining, "You can ask your mother what it ans later."
On the other side, Li Mochan approached Ji Mingqian, looking down at the unconscious Jiang Yisheng, and reached out as if to take him.
"What are you doing?" Ji Mingqian eyed him warily, unconsciously pulling Jiang Yisheng closer into his embrace.
Li Mochan raised an eyebrow, the corner of his mouth ford an arc full of deep implications, "This person belongs to my family."
Ji Mingqian froze, his gaze blank as he looked at the person in his arms; Li Mochan was right, he was indeed from his family.
However...
It seed he was not particularly eager to return him.
Ji Mingqian cleared his throat subtly, hiding the emotion in his eyes, "You take care of Ajiu. Jiang Yisheng is injured, I will help you carry him to the car first."
With that, Ji Mingqian, without waiting for Li Mochan to reply, helped Jiang Yisheng to his feet, slung his arm over his shoulder, and escorted him out.
Li Mochan’s cool eyes slightly narrowed, watching Ji Mingqian’s retreating back, a trace of mocking laughter flickered in their depths.
Truly foolish.
Despite her unwillingness, Mo Su could not escape being captured, and along with her, Mark was taken back as well.
However, Ye Jiuliang had no ti to interrogate them because Jiang Yisheng’s injuries were severe and she had to personally treat him.
If it hadn’t been for Ye Jiuliang consistently administering dicine to help him recuperate, Jiang Yisheng’s condition might have beco critical after Mark’s brutal beating.
His ribs were fractured, and he was bruised and had even sustained a concussion.
To describe it in one word: dreadful.
Outside the surgery room, Ji Mingqian and Li Mochan both stood by the door.
As soon as the light went out, the two n stepped forward to et her.
"How is Jiang Yisheng?" Ji Mingqian asked first, his expression gloomy.
"Fortunately, the treatnt was tily. He is no longer in life-threatening danger, but he needs to rest quietly for a while," Ye Jiuliang said in a calm voice as she rolled down her sleeve.
"Asheng’s injuries are quite severe this ti, and soone needs to watch over him tonight to prevent a fever."
As he finished speaking, Ji Mingqian imdiately volunteered, "I’ll keep watch."
Afterward, noticing the strange looks from Ye Jiuliang and Li Mohan, Ji Ming realized that he had been too hasty and lost his composure.
"Ahem, Ajiu, you’re still pregnant, so go back and rest early. We also need to hurry up with Old Master Mo’s matter to prevent him from escaping," he added awkwardly.
The subject changed so abruptly that it felt sowhat awkward and stilted. Ye Jiuliang gave him a glance, the nausea she had barely suppressed began to stir again, and she didn’t think much of it.
"We’ll go back first. Asheng will be left in your care—if there’s sothing, call ."
Ji Mingqian nodded, avoiding Li Mohan’s gaze and looking around distractedly.
Li Mohan withdrew his gaze, his sharp eyes catching a glimpse of the necklace in Ye Jiuliang’s hand. He casually asked, "What’s that you’re holding?"
Ye Jiuliang spread out her hand, revealing a necklace with a vivid green diamond lying in her palm, shining under the light.
"This fell out of Asheng’s hand; it must be his," she said.
Ji Mingqian also saw the necklace, a flicker of astonishnt passing through his eyes.
Wasn’t this the birthday gift he had given the last ti?
Was he really carrying it with him?
Not missing the flicker of astonishnt on Ji Mingqian’s face when he saw the necklace, Li Mohan took the necklace and the corner of his mouth curled up in a teasing arc, "Probably a gift from the girl Asheng had a blind date with. We’ll keep it for now and return it to him when he wakes up."
Ji Mingqian, "..."
What blind date girl, that was clearly the one he had sent.
Damn Li Mohan, why did his words sound so irritating?
"They are already exchanging necklaces, did Asheng really take a liking to that girl?" Ye Jiuliang looked at the necklace curiously and asked.
"Perhaps," Li Mohan smiled with a curve of his lips, "We can ask Asheng when he wakes up."
Ji Mingqian couldn’t stand it any longer and could not bear to listen anymore.
He reached out to take the necklace back but Li Mohan beat him to it.
Ji Mingqian’s expression darkened as he glared at him, "Li Mohan, what are you doing?"
"The necklace is Asheng’s. I’m keeping it for him temporarily. Is there a problem?" Li Mohan said nonchalantly, playing with the necklace.
"The necklace isn’t yours, why are you in such a hurry?"
Ji Mingqian was so frustrated he could spit blood, his brain overheating as he blurted out, "No need for you to keep it; give the necklace back to ."
Upon hearing this, Ye Jiuliang gave Ji Mingqian a suspicious look, sensing sothing was off but unable to pinpoint what it was.
"Give it back to you?" Li Mohan sneered lightly, his eyes arching with a cunning sparkle, "The necklace belongs to Asheng, why should I give it back to you?"
Ji Mingqian was at a loss for words, "I..."
"Being one of the leaders of the K organization, you can’t possibly be so poor you can’t afford a necklace, right? Or have you been coveting Asheng’s necklace?" Li Mohan taunted with interest.
Ji Mingqian’s mouth twitched, provoked beyond asure and without thinking through his words, "Who’s coveting his necklace, I bought that necklace, why should you keep it?"
Getting angrier the more he thought about it, he reached out to snatch the necklace back, "Give it to ."
Achieving his goal, Li Mohan did not argue further and let him take the necklace easily.
Ye Jiuliang was stunned, and her gaze towards Ji Mingqian grew more peculiar, "Aqian, was that necklace a gift from you?"
"I..." Realizing what he had revealed, Ji Mingqian was montarily lost for words.
This is bad.
All because of that damn Li Mohan, who had infuriated him to the point of confusion.
Li Mohan stood with his hands pocketed, watching leisurely, as he too was curious why he had sent the necklace.
