As Kai ca back to his senses, he slightly pushed the two won off of them. But to not break their hearts, he decided to play along with them, at least for now.
"Mom, sis, I’m so glad you’re okay. But right now, we have to make sure everyone gets out of here safely."
"Yes, yes, you’re right. I’m just so happy that you’re okay. You really did keep your promise and got adventures to help us!"
"I’m so proud of you, little brother. I’m positive you’ll make it into the hero academy now!"

"Kai?" Josh walked over. "I didn’t know you’re family was here. You should have told !"
Kai waved his hand, brushing the comnt off. "We need to get everyone out of here, and take the dead so we can bury them."
"Right. Priorities." Josh nodded. "Excuse , but can you tell us if there are any other places where people are being kept?" He asked so people.
"I-I know." An elderly man answered.
Sophia walked up to him, her sweet smile soothing the scared, shaking man. "Can you tell us where they are being kept?"
"J-Just on the other side. There should be an entrance there. B-But I think that’s where they dump the ones they killed. E-Eveyone who went there never made it out. E-Excpet Kai."
"I’ll go check it out." Kai nodded. "You all get everyone out of here."
Lucy stepped forward. "I’ll co with you. In case there is a monster there, you need to be protected."
Kai nodded. "Okay, now, everyone, huddle up and stand still for a bit." He cast group heal on everyone there, healing their wounds, soothing their minds, and satisfying their hunger. They were all back to normal, but the trauma would still remain if there was any.
"Wow."

"Kai, you’re the best!"
"Alright, let’s go."
Kai and Lucy followed the path the old man told them about, which led them to the literal dump site of the monsters. Everthing here was decaying, full of garbage and shit, literal shit.
"Ughh!" Lucy covered her nose, gagging as the sll overtook her senses.
Kai too felt sick from the sll, so he quickly cast clean to make the place nice and remove the sll.
"Thanks." Lucy smiled
"Yeah."
They looked around until they saw the dead bodies they were looking for. Hundreds of people piled up on one side of the cave, their bodies still fresh as they were killed recently.
But that wasn’t the biggest shock of the century. What made Kai second-guess his existence was the fact that there was soone here who looked exactly like him, body features and all, who was dead on the ground with a spear implanted in his heart and an arrow in his head.

’I guess this explains everything.’ Kai used the skill on the dead body, and mories ca flooding into his mind.
In the span of 18 seconds, Kai relived 18 years of his doubleganger’s life from birth up to death. He was also nad Kai, but had a loving mother and father. When he was 8, he and his dad got stranded in the mountains for three years. Unfortunately, his dad died, but Kai managed to survive and make it ho to his mother and older sister.
Ever since that day, Kai’s dream has been to beco a hero and save everyone. He trained, studied, and kept pushing himself so he could achieve his goal. He had no friends and was a loner, but his dream and family kept him going. Then, a month ago, monsters attacked their village, completely destroying it and killing over half of the population.
They were taken to this cave and were held captive, barely getting fed to survive. Then, an opportunity ca, a chance for him to escape. He told everyone that he would co back with help. But before he could even escape, he was killed by goblins.

Josh, Sophie, and Richard were able to lead everyone out of the cave safely without encountering any problems, but as soon as the sun washed over their faces, an army of goblins, hobgoblins, and ogres blocked their path.
"Gekekeke, stupid humans! Fell for trap! Ugly man was right!" A taller, stronger, and more intelligent goblin spoke, his eyes glowing purple.
Sophia froze "A goblin lord? How is a goblin lord here?"
"Doesn’t matter! We need to bash in their skulls if we want to get out of here! HYAHHH!"
"Richard is right. Protect everyone, Sophia. Richard and I will hold them off.
