The soirée with the Castro princess and her friends ended up just being the first instance of a very repetitive clash between and other people.

Be it with the history and society teachers, with classmates, seniors, and, once, even with Academy staff, the beastkin issue sooner or later would co up.

The official na for all intelligent races that are not human is demihumans.

According to the Church, they were created after the humans by demons who were trying to imitate the act of creation of the goddess.

And that’s why, they would say, those races are only half-human and not entirely human. That is the reason for the ’demi-’ part of their na.

The beastkin use the word mankind to refer to all intelligent races, including humans. That term is not acknowledged by the human kingdoms.

Lovelace told that before the rise of the goddess, the term Mankind was widely used in the human realms.

So it was probably under the influence of the Church that the term was abolished, and yet, the history books act like it never existed to begin with.

There are so older history books in the restricted section that I’m yet to read, so they might shed so light on it.

In any case, Mankind is divided up into four categories. Humankind, fae folk, beastkin, and dragonkin.

Humankind is your basic human, like . Not much to talk about here.

Fae folk are the elves and dwarves. They live deep inside forests and mountains and rarely interact with humans.

I rember seeing so elves in the slavers’ den from ti to ti, but it’s probably because of the unusual nature of that location.

In general, it’s really hard to see an elf or dwarf, and as a rule of thumb, you’ll never see one living in the human cities. Most people live their whole life without seeing one.

There are even people who think that elves and dwarves are only creatures of legends.

But there was a ti in which they were more nurous, and several of them lived among the humans.

It seems that, during the war thirteen centuries ago, an elf prince sided with the dragonkin. What followed the news is known as ’The Nights of Blood and Fire.’

Yeah, I don’t think that I need to describe exactly what happened to every single elf and dwarf who lived within human territory at that ti. That na gives it away.

Obviously, the history books have no ntions about the massacre. The only thing they said is that the fae folk betrayed the humans and joined the dragons. Obviously.

I’m glad that I have a living witness to what happened at my side. I an, during the weekends, at least.

The beastkin are the only ones who could maybe be called ’demihumans,’ because they were, in fact, originally humans who beca a new race by fusing with the essence of their spiritual guides. Though there were also dragonkin between their ranks

But the humans don’t know anything about it, and I obviously didn’t tell anyone. It’s a secret I only learned because Yara trusted in .

The history books barely acknowledge their existence. They just appeared at the edge of human society and never ford any organized kingdom or practical resistance.

Which, okay, true enough. They have been too busy trying to survive in a very hostile environnt while also trying to escape capture and slavery.

Not exactly the best cradle for a civilization to prosper. But the lack of centralized authority plus the beast-like racial traits gave the racists a reason to call them ’demibeasts,’ which is an awful nickna.

Thus we arrive at the dragonkin. The ones at war with humankind for the gods know how many centuries.

They are the original dwellers of this world. Apparently, the dragons were elental beings, a form of life that evolved directly from within the pure elents.

The original dragons are called Dragon Sovereigns, and they were like gods who ruled the world. Each dragon had full mastery over its own elent, on a level that is superior to the mastery Lovelace has of the Dark elent.

Alongside them, this world also evolved normal life, similar in nature to the one that evolved on Earth. But the dragons ddled with that evolution, so the first intelligent race to appear was the dragonkin.

Imagine if the dinosaurs, instead of going down the way of ’bigger is better’ of our world, had gone down the path that leads to the developnt of culture and civilization.

That’s basically the dragonkin. Intelligent dinosaurs that are very humanlike in appearance. I haven’t seen any directly, but I saw enough pictures of them in books, murals, and other paintings.

So conspiracy theorists in our world would quickly call them ’reptilians’ and hunt them on sight.

It’s not clear to how and when the humans and the fae folk ca to this world, but it’s certain that both are aliens.

Of course, none of that is written in the official history textbooks taught at the school.

The official narrative of the Church is that a demon spawned them in the Dragon mountains with the goal to destroy the humans.

The only thing I know for certain is that after the great war in which Juno was isekai’d to this world and then later ascended to godhood, the dragonkin were nearly exterminated.

The humans gobbled all the fertile land to themselves, including almost all the forests of the continent, and the surviving dragonkin were pushed over to the inhabitable mountain range at the west.

At the feet of that range there is a swath of dense jungle that is really hard to enter into, and it’s said to be the last refuge of the elves.

Nobody who tried to enter it in the last thousand years ever ca back alive, though.

If you encounter any dragonkin, the order is to kill on sight, and not killing them might even get you in legal trouble.

There are no official orders about fae folk or beastkin, but both are legally treated as objects. If you find one without an owner, you are allowed to keep them as your slave.

And if the beastkin hurts the human while resisting enslavent, they might even face capital punishnt.

All in all, I don’t think that there is a peaceful solution to this conflict. What the humans have done against the other races can only be washed away with blood.

I don’t think that just saying, ’hi, I’m sorry for all the trouble we’ve caused, but we changed. All good now, let’s be friends’ will ease any interaction between humans and the other races.

And that’s with the big IF of the humans really wanting to change, which is not true, except for a very small minority.

After every single discussion in the Royal Academy, I get the impression that for every Lillian, we have at least fifty Urracas.

Well, it might be a very skewed sample, as we are inside an institution for nobles over which the Church has so power and where the teenagers are keen on looking good to get good scores to bring back ho.

The commoners might think differently. But if they don’t, then there will be no hope for the human race in this world.
