It took Nan Yu only a mont to write down the content and hand it over to Sheng Ruoi.

"Mrs. Nan, in case you deny this matter later, I’ve written it down. Please sign it, so I can stay here with peace of mind," she said.

Sheng Ruoi looked at the words on the paper and read them out softly.

"Once you leave, you must start working at our family’s company within a month. If you violate this agreent, you shall give an additional 2% of the company’s shares..."

When Nan Qingqing heard this, her eyes widened in shock. "Sister, have you lost your mind? You already took 2% of the shares, and now you want another 2%. What exactly are you trying to do?"

Nan Yu glanced at Nan Qingqing with a sidelong look. "Nan Qingqing, you’re now a daughter of the Nan Family. What does our family’s business have to do with you? Besides, I’m taking shares of my own family’s company. Why are you in such a hurry?"

"As for inheritance, these shares and the company itself will be mine eventually. Right now, it’s just a matter of giving an extra 2% of the shares ahead of ti. Why are you, an outsider, so anxious? Could it be that the company and its shares are already destined to be inherited by you?"

Nan Qingqing, catching Ren Xingzhou’s scrutinizing gaze, imdiately blushed and stamred, "I... I didn’t..."

Sheng Ruoi silently moved Nan Qingqing behind her and stood in front of Nan Yu, her eyes filled with unconcealed disgust.

Sheng Ruoi put on a heartbroken facade and said, "Xiao Yu, Qingqing is just worried about , defending out of concern. Don’t be angry with her. Whatever you want, even if it’s my life, I’ll give it to you."

She grabbed the paper, signed her na on it directly, and then pressed her red thumbprint onto it.

Then she handed the paper back to Nan Yu and said sadly, "Xiao Yu, are you satisfied now?"

Nan Yu saw that Sheng Ruoi didn’t hesitate at all in signing, and narrowed her eyes.

Last ti, when she asked for 2% of the shares, it was like pulling teeth, as if she was asking for their lives. Now, it seed too easy, eerily so.

Nan Yu put away the paper. "Hmm, I’m barely satisfied," she remarked.

Sheng Ruoi’s eyes reddened with sorrow, looking like a mother who had been deeply hurt by her daughter, eliciting pity from those around.

Nan Qingqing, supporting her, finally managed to say, "Sister, you’re absolutely rotten to the core."

Nan Yu lowered her eyes, hiding the complexity of emotions beneath, and asked softly in return.

"Is that so?"

Sheng Ruoi held Nan Qingqing’s hand and said with self-reproach, "Qingqing, don’t speak of your sister that way. It’s my failure to raise her properly, my fault."

Nan Yu sneered. "Have you finished your act? If so, please leave."

Nan Qingqing glared at Nan Yu with resentnt. "Nan Yu, you’re too much!"

Sheng Ruoi held her again and shook her head with vulnerability. "Qingqing, let it go. Let’s go back."

She then released Nan Qingqing’s hand and moved closer to Nan Yu once more.

Nan Yu regarded her with suspicion.

Sheng Ruoi took out a red amulet from her bosom and stuffed it into Nan Yu’s hand.

"I’ve heard there are many fierce beasts around here. I’m worried about your safety, so I went to a master to get this amulet for you to protect you from illness and disaster here."

Nan Yu imdiately withdrew her hand and looked at her with a smile. "Give this amulet to Nan Qingqing instead; I don’t need it."

Sheng Ruoi looked at the amulet that had fallen to the ground, her expression stiff. "She has her own. This one was specially sought for you," she insisted.

After saying this, she pushed the amulet into Nan Yu’s hand, not allowing her to refuse, and turned to leave, dragging her heavy left leg and returning to the car with a look of dejection.

Nan Qingqing stared at the amulet in her hand. "Sister, this is from our step-mother who, despite being seriously ill, went out of her way to get for you. Please don’t let her down."

Then she, too, got into the car and left the place with Sheng Ruoi.

Once they were gone, Nan Yu stood still, threw the amulet on the ground, and her eyes filled with an icy chill to their utmost.

Ren Xingzhou imdiately ca over, picked up the amulet, and handed it to Nan Yu.

He sighed and said, "Nan Yu, I think your mother really does care about you. Why throw the amulet on the ground? Keep it safe."
