"Xiao Yu, my dear daughter, have you suffered here?"

Sheng Ruoi got out of the car, her face wet with tears. She imdiately dragged her left leg, which was in a cast, and ran to Nan Yu, embracing her with distress.

Then, when no one was looking, she silently sprinkled all the powdered dicine, hidden in her sleeve, onto Nan Yu’s back.

Nan Yu, startled by Sheng Ruoi’s intimate gesture, quickly pushed her away, her expression changing, "Mrs. Nan, we have already severed our mother-daughter relationship. What are you doing?"

Falling out of the car behind them, Nan Qingqing wore a look of resentnt.

"Sister, our foster mother has been so good to you, yet you insist on severing your mother-daughter ties. Do you know how much this breaks her heart?"

Upon hearing this, Sheng Ruoi’s tears fell even faster, her face a picture of profound hurt.

"Xiao Yu, you can resent Mom and do whatever you want, but please, can you stop being angry with her?"

Xingzhou, who had ridden up to the cabin on his motorcycle, saw this scene and could not help but frown.

Nan Qingqing caught a glimpse of Xingzhou and her expression beca more natural.

She sorrowfully said, "Sister, do you know our foster mother has not slept well, has not eaten well these past few days? She’s already ill and has been treated in the hospital every day. She ca to see you, against the doctor’s advice, because she was worried about you."

"Sister, why can’t you understand a bit of reason?"

Instantly, Sheng Ruoi turned back to Nan Qingqing and said, "Qingqing, stop talking, it’s my fault. If Xiao Yu hates now, it’s justified."

Looking haggardly at Nan Yu, she continued, "Xiao Yu, now that I see you’re all right, Mom is reassured about you being here."

Nan Yu watched as the two won played their parts perfectly, her indifference reaching its peak.

"Mrs. Nan, are you suggesting that you no longer wish to sever our mother-daughter relationship?"

The weeping Sheng Ruoi stiffened, her peripheral vision catching Xingzhou watching them.

She bit her lower lip and looked up at Nan Yu, "Xiao Yu, Mom—"

Nan Yu promptly interrupted, "Mrs. Nan, you should think carefully before you speak. If you retract your decision to sever our relationship, shouldn’t you be letting join the family company to prepare for taking over?"

Hearing this, Sheng Ruoi’s face showed cracks in her façade.

She gave a forced smile, "Xiao Yu, about joining the company, your dad will make arrangents. You’re still young; there’s no need to rush. You can still enjoy a few more years."

Following her, Nan Qingqing also said, "Sister, you dropped out of high school and don’t understand anything. The company is currently in a crisis, and our foster father has enough headaches. Try not to add to the chaos."

Hearing this, a chill flickered in Nan Yu’s eyes.

"He took my one hundred million dowry and still can’t resolve the company’s issues?"

Xingzhou, standing aside, showed a flash of surprise in his eyes upon hearing about the "one hundred million dowry."

He curiously looked at Sheng Ruoi.

Feeling the intensity of his gaze, Sheng Ruoi pursed her lips, a cold flash crossing her eyes, though she maintained her facade of a loving mother.

"Xiao Yu, if you insist on joining the company, once you leave here, I’ll speak to your father to find you a suitable position there."

Nan Yu raised her eyebrow, sowhat surprised at how quickly Sheng Ruoi agreed.

Sheng Ruoi continued, "Xiao Yu, just stay here for now without worries about ho. Once you’re out, we’ll talk properly and ensure you start working at the company."

Nan Qingqing chid in, "Sister, our foster mother has already agreed, so don’t make her angry anymore. Be obedient here and avoid any more trouble."

Nan Yu, however, did not respond to them. Instead, she turned to Xingzhou.

"Brother Ren, do you have so paper and a pen?"

Xingzhou responded with curiosity, "Yes, why?"

"Can you bring them to ?"

Nan Yu deliberately paused for a second, glanced at Sheng Ruoi and Nan Qingqing, a clear smirk playing on her lips.

"I never trust words alone. It’s always better with written agreents, duly sealed with a thumbprint."
