Raze watched Gavin leave and then finally he frowned, he had already known the type of person Gavin was, and it wasn’t sothing that he could change that easily, because that was the way that Gavin was written.
His entire character as the hero of the story surrounded the fact that he was this person plagued with good and bad, fighting against himself if his journey was about revenge or justice, and both sides constantly collided every ti.
The author tried to make the internal struggles he faced as great if not greater than that of the physical. But what he had said actually hit Raze a bit. The way he killed was without pause, he never hesitated to take the first life nor did he think twice before killing this man.
It was as though his mind switched up when it ca to killing, he saw it as the right thing to do at the mont, and that made it alright, he would execute it without a single doubt in his mind.
He had read stories of people that had to live with the weight of the lives they had taken, causing them sleepless nights and more, but none of that ever happened to him, it was as though he lacked whatever empathy was needed for that.
’Sigh, what does it matter now, I am who I am." Raze muttered, he looked at the stairway one more ti.
[...]
Ella and Elaine made their way to the top of the stairs and onto the second floor, and the mont they got there, they saw two figures standing there, maids, blocking the way, their heads bent low.
Both girls stopped when they saw them; they hadn’t even sensed their presence at all when they were coming up.
"Hello?" Ella called out, but there was no response, just an eerie silence, which was followed by the creaking of bones as both ladies started moving slowly, their fingers first and then their arms.
Suddenly, they lifted their heads, showing their pale faces with red eyes, and around their neck was so sort of glowing red formation.
"Kyaaaaaaaaaaaah!"
Both ladies scread at the sa ti and then rushed forward, frightening Ella and Emily, but Ella managed to react fast.
"Crimson Fla Wall." She cast a spell fast, and a massive wall of flas shot out of the ground and slamd into the roof, blocking the path and buying them so ti, or so they thought, because in the next mont the girls leaped through the flas, the heat burning their skin, but they didn’t care.
One latched onto Ella who was closer, hands wrapped around her neck. Ella was shook and fell to the ground with the maid above her, she was about to get her neck ripped out, the maid opened her mouth to bite,
"Light Lance."
Emily ca through at the last mont and a lance made of light penetrated right through the shoulder of the maid and sent her slamming into the wall with a bleeding shoulder.
The second one lunged at Emily but she was fast. "Light Sword," she cast, and a sword made of light ford, she grabbed it and slashed forward, but the maid grabbed the sword with both hands, it cut into her, but she didn’t let go, until a fireball from Ella slamd into her face and threw her back.
"Thank you." Ella said to Emily.
"Right back at you." Emily said.
They both stood side by side and looked at the two maids that were slowly getting back on their feet.
"What are they doing?" Emily asked.
"I don’t know, but it does seem like they have no control, no one would jump through a wall of flas just to attack." Ella said.
Emily then focused on them and saw the glowing eyes and the formation around their necks.
"Yeah, they are definitely not in control, we have to try to knock them out without seriously harming them." She said.
"Uhm, Mages like us aren’t really equipped for blunt combat." Ella stated.
"True, but we have to find a way." Emily said. By this ti, the maids had already started rushing at them again. Ella looked up and saw the ceiling beams, and imdiately an idea ca to mind.
"Emily, attack one side of the beam!" she yelled. Emily looked up, and she imdiately got the idea. She cast a light sword and Ella cast a fla arrow, attacking the beam.
Crackle
Boom
The beam fell from above right on both maids, it was a pound and heavy drop, locking both in place and probably breaking so bones, but it was far better than what a battle against them would have done.
The maids still in the state tried clawing out, but couldn’t.
Ella looked at them in pity, "I’m sorry we have to do this, when we are done here, we’ll get help and get you healed." She said. The both of them crossed over, not looking back, they headed for the master bedroom first.
As they got to the large double door, Ella placed her hands on the door and was imdiately blasted back so hard she slamd against a wall, coughing the blood and almost passed out on the spot.
Emily rushed to her and grabbed her, helping her up, she looked at the door and could still see it pulsing with strong magic after attacking Ella.
"There is a magical formation tied to the door." Ella said, got back to her feet again, "I’ll try to break it."
She said and then walked close to the door again while Emily watched.
Using the sa thods she had used to check Raze’s Mana when they first t, she began checking, used her own Mana as her eyes, it seeped into the ground and slowly started spreading, sending information into her head.
She frowned more and more as she checked it, and finally her eyes snapped open.
"Did you find a way?" Emily asked.
"Yes, but we need to attack twenty different points at exactly the sa ti and with extre precision."
