Shimizu-san and Shopping 3
“You!”
“Ah, this might be bad.”
Matsuoka suddenly changed direction and headed towards the entrance of the shopping mall.
“Don’t run away!”
“I have to run away now! The Daiki in my heart is telling it’s necessary!”
After that, I chased after Matsuoka, running around the periter of the shopping mall.

“Strange, it’s about ti for us to et up.”
An hour had passed since we arrived at the shopping mall.
Seto-san and I had finished checking the prices of the groceries and were waiting at the prearranged eting spot.
After about five minutes, two exhausted-looking people appeared at the eting place.
“Sorry, both of you! A lot happened!”
Toshiya apologized to and Seto-san with his hands together.
“That’s fine, but why do you two look so tired?”
Seto-san threw a question at them.
“We had to run outside for a bit...”
“If you hadn’t run away, we wouldn’t have been late.”
“That’s true, but if Shimizu-san hadn’t chased after , I wouldn’t have had to run...”
“Do you have a problem with ?”
“No! It was my fault!”
I wonder what happened to them.
One thing was clear without asking.
“It seems like Toshiya and Shimizu-san have beco friends.”
“I thought so too.”
Seto-san’s expression was softer than usual, and she seed relieved.
“Alright, now that all four of us are here, let’s head back to school!”

How long had it been since we left the shopping mall?
We were sitting at a window seat in a family restaurant. We had entered here to take shelter because it started raining while we were on our way back to school.
The rain showed no signs of stopping and continued relentlessly.
“Well, let’s rest here for a bit, and if it’s still raining after that, we’ll decide what to do.”
“Is it really okay to be so carefree?”
“Well, only Seto-san brought a foldable umbrella, and with this rain, it seems difficult for all of us to get back to school without getting wet.”
There was no rain forecast for today, so I hadn’t brought a foldable umbrella either.
With only one umbrella, it would be difficult for four people to return without getting wet.
“It might just be a passing shower, so maybe it’s okay to wait a bit like Toshiya says?”

The other two seed to agree with staying here.

We each ordered the drink bar, and Toshiya ordered so fries for all of us to share.
“By the way, how far has the Astronomy Club’s play progressed?”
It had been about ten minutes since we ca to the family restaurant.
We were chatting while sipping our drinks and nibbling on fries.
“The script arrived right after the second term started, and for about a week we’ve been morizing our lines individually. Today, we were supposed to check how much we’ve morized by reading through it together.”
“Sorry for interrupting your practice.”
“There’s still ti before the play, so it’s okay.”
“Right, if it was really bad, I would have said no.”
“That’s good then. But I was surprised when I first heard that the Astronomy Club was doing a play. And that Daiki is the lead!”
“It really doesn’t suit , does it?”
I am aware. If there had been soone more suitable, I wouldn’t have been the lead.
“No, I don’t think that.”
“Yes?”
When I looked up, Toshiya had an unusually serious expression on his face.
“Daiki can definitely take on the role of the lead in the play.”
This wasn’t the face he made when joking around.
He seed to be serious.
“Aren’t you overestimating a bit too much?”
“It’s the opposite. Daiki, you’re underestimating yourself. Seto-san and Shimizu-san would agree, right?”

“Yeah, I think so too. Hondō-kun should have more confidence in himself.”

Both of them seed to be pushing forward with their words.
“Thanks to all three of you. I’ll do my best in the role of Hikoboshi.”
“Alright! I’ll definitely co to see the Astronomy Club’s play! I’ll be rooting for all of you!”
Toshiya’s smile seed even brighter than usual.
“I’d do my best even without your support.”
“That’s right. Shimizu-san would be happier to be cheered on by Daiki.”
“Y-you...”
“Indeed. If Hondō-kun cheers her on, Shimizu-san’s motivation will be a hundred tis greater.”
“You guys better rember this later!”
“Shimizu-san, please calm down, we’re inside a store...”
Although there weren’t many custors in the store, raising our voices would certainly be a nuisance.
“Grrr...”
“Co on Daiki, let’s cheer on Shimizu-san!”
“Motivation is important. Hondō-kun, hurry up and cheer for Shimizu-san.”
Why are these two so in sync?
But as Seto-san said, motivation is important for anything you do.
I don’t know if my cheering will actually boost Shimizu-san’s motivation, but it’s better to cheer than not to.
I looked straight at Shimizu-san.
“Shimizu-san.”
“What is it?”
“The rehearsals for the play might be tough, but let’s work hard together from now on.”

Though she averted her eyes, I wanted to believe my feelings got through.
