214: Chapter 212: Mutant Frog 214: Chapter 212: Mutant Frog The moist touch by her ear made her frown, her stomach unsettled, “Can you let go of first?”

This ti, he cooperated and let go, but his tall and straight figure still lood over her, seemingly ready to snatch her back and devour her at the slightest movent.

Su Mo’s mind was racing.

She had roughly sorted things out—the effect caused by the flagellated algae was like a closed loop.

To her, she was rely a spectator in his life.

But to Lu Jin, the effect that had been triggered had truly impacted his entire life.

She would end up eting him before the apocalypse after the apocalypse had happened, causing a knot to form.

Su Mo sighed deeply, never having expected things to turn out this way.

She looked up and said, “First, I always thought that was an illusion; secondly, I had no idea that diving into the pond to save you would pull back to this ti period.”

If she had known, she would have jumped into the river long ago, without waiting to save soone.

Lu Jin’s eyes were calm yet carried a hint of mockery.

The problem that had plagued him all his life was untangled by her simple statent—how effortless.

Suppressing his discomfort, he took two steps back: “When Su Yao left back then, it was to protect you, as an honest exchange.”

Protect ?

Su Mo furrowed her brows, noticing that he had shifted his gaze.

She sighed inwardly; though she hadn’t primarily wanted to ask about this, she decided to let it go for now.

After such an entanglent, the day had fully broken.

Su Mo vigorously rubbed her neck where the skin had been bitten and looked around, asking Lu Jin who was not far away, “Do you know how to get out of here?”

The reason she had saved him and caused such a fuss was simply to find a way out.

Lu Jin turned his head, his eyes hostile: “Beg .”

Su Mo’s eyebrows almost twisted into knots.

She wasn’t quite sure what role she played in his heart.

To call her an enemy didn’t seem right; a benefactor—well, him not killing her felt lucky enough.

“What do you want as a reward?

Rice?

Flour?”

Lu Jin stroked his chin, seemingly weighing his options, then his dark eyes fixed on her: “Keep it in debt first.”

Su Mo shrugged; this wasn’t the first ti she had owed him, but it was another matter if he didn’t fulfill his end of the deal.

It was the first ti she had seen him take sothing out of the Space—a set of brand-new clothes.

His own were already soiled with blood beyond recognition.

Consciously, Su Mo walked behind a tree, listening to the sounds of him changing.

Lu Jin, with his upper body bare, glanced back at the piece of cloth peeking out from behind the tree, then caressed his well-toned abdon, which was indeed as good as new, the bones inside all properly healed.

His eyes were contemplative.

He tossed the clothes he had changed out of onto the ground, and brushed aside the leaves to walk ahead: “Let’s go.”

Hearing his voice, Su Mo ca out from behind the tree and followed in his footsteps.

The forest was vast, the tall trees lush, and the air was filled with the fresh scent of grass and trees.

Su Mo instinctively covered her mouth and nose, fearful of encountering any hallucinogenic creatures.

The two of them moved through the woods, one ahead of the other.

As they walked, the trees grew denser, and Su Mo wondered if he was leading her into a dead end.

But hearing the sound of flowing water, she put that thought aside.

Lu Jin paused ahead, observing their surroundings as if confirming their path.

Su Mo stopped a few ters behind him, not wishing to disturb him.

He glanced back at her, his Adam’s apple bobbing at the sight of the clear bite marks on her neck, then turned away and continued walking, following the wind.

Honestly, Su Mo had no sense of direction in the midst of these identical shrubs and trees.

Apart from following his various turns, she felt as though she were walking in circles.

He kept walking and pausing, until the sound of water grew clearer, along with the encroaching dampness.

Seeing the black waterfall cascading down from the high place, Su Mo couldn’t help but speak, “What are we doing here?”

“What, you don’t want to get out?” Lu Jin stopped and looked around.

She parted the leaves, and the mountain wind mixed with the rotten sll slapped her face.

The black pool in front of her and the towering cliff made her shudder, “Are we going to climb up there?”

Lu Jin had already told her with his actions as he circled the pool of black water, seemingly searching for a route up the cliff.

Su Mo swallowed, realizing that if one fell from this height, they wouldn’t even amount to a at pancake.

Bubbles began to gurgle up continuously from within the pitch-dark pool.

Her heart tightened, and she imdiately stepped back, “There’s sothing!”

She felt the space beside her twist, and when she turned her head, the man was already standing by her side.

The bubbles in the pool grew larger and larger, and the nacing pressure escaped from the depths.

She was dragged back several steps by Lu Jin and hurled into the woods.

“Useless, go hide on the side, you can’t handle it,” Lu Jin’s voice was fierce as it ca from ahead.

Su Mo frowned, pulled out the Tang Blade without hesitation and retorted, “Useless your head!”

Lu Jin ignored her, his dark eyes locked onto the pool.

Talking back was one thing, but preserving one’s life was paramount.

Su Mo climbed to the treetop and hid among the leaves, resolved to help in case of danger—she didn’t want her navigation to run out of power halfway through.

The creature that intimidated both of them finally broke the surface; it had a huge, flat green-patterned top and a skin covered with a layer of disgusting mucus.

At first, Su Mo did not recognize what it was, only finding it oddly familiar, until the large protruding eyes were exposed, and she suddenly realized it was a frog.

She wouldn’t have believed her own eyes if she hadn’t seen it herself—a frog that had grown to two ters tall.

The muscular hind legs of the frog sprang from the bottom of the pool, leaping towards Lu Jin.

Lu Jin disappeared in an instant, reappearing behind it; he summoned a fissure aiming at the frog’s heel, attempting to grind its hind legs to pieces.

The Mutant Frog was incredibly fast in its reaction, bouncing seven or eight ters away with a single leap.

The enormous vocal sac by its mouth emitted a series of short, rapid croaks, as if expressing its anger.

The slick, flesh-colored Long Tongue shot out of its mouth, aiming at Lu Jin with the speed of a lingering shadow.

The man barely dodged again, the tongue with its super strong adhesive force smashing the rocks on the cliff wall.

A great number of stones broke off and crashed to the ground, with debris scattering.

He tried to control his power to shatter its tongue, but the transparent protective film on its surface seed to have insulating properties, stubbornly preventing him from inflicting any damage.

Su Mo crept along the trunk, watching the battle closely.

After Lu Jin tried several tis to approach the frog and failed, he began to tactically lure its tongue to wreak havoc on the cliff wall.

She observed the cliff and finally spotted the huge, teetering boulder.

Looking again at Lu Jin below, who was visibly growing paler, she knew his superpower was being overtaxed.
