Lin Xiaofei looked utterly shocked and taken aback with his proposal. She couldn't find her voice to say sothing to that.
Qu Xing Xu saw that she wasn't speaking and continued, "As you have known. I'm currently single and so are you. I don't care about your last engagent falling through nor about your reputation. I just need a woman who can take the title as the Duchess of Xin."
"But we don't even have feelings for each other." She whispered and stared at him suspiciously as if she wanted him to say he was joking.
"But of course." Qu Xing Xu responded quickly. Not knowing why he felt like one wrong word and his plan to take this woman as his wife would fly out of the window.
At the mont, he also didn't know why he was being persistent in wanting her as his wife. There are other females who have both beauty and noble status as well as a good reputation that wished to be his wife but unfortunately, it seems that they won't have any chance now that the only woman in his eyes right now is in front of him.
Frowning, he turned back: "We've only t each other a few tis and naturally, I won't have any feelings for you. Don't daydream when the sun is still out."
Lin Xiaofei rolled her eyes. She pursed her lips in frustration as she couldn't believe that he was implying that she was having wishful thinking that he might be in love with her.
"Tsk. Who's daydreaming about you?" She muttered under her breath and looked away.
"Speak louder. I can't hear you." Qu Xing Xu said with a smirk but Lin Xiaofei refused to obey him as she sat down on the chair.
She kept her mouth shut as she was thinking deeply.
Thinking about it again, Qu Xing Xu's proposal wasn't that bad. Right now, she needed a man to marry and he was offering himself to her as a sacrificial lamb.
Honestly, when she thought of marrying. She never thought that it was to marry soone for love but for the benefits she could get out of it.
Marrying a man with wealth was indeed good as it will help her get what she wanted. Plus, marrying soone would keep her from people ddling over her life matters like the Song family and the Empress.
Besides, she's been worrying about how she would take care of Qu Xing Xu once he tried to betray her. Qu Xing Xu has both the Qu clan and Hong Pei Lou behind his back and along with that, there are still so things that she finds strange.
In any case, with his status and power, he could easily throw her away once he got what he wanted and kill her.
But what if she marries him and drags him along with her to death if he ever betrayed her?
Lin Xiaofei stared at his back and smiled.
Since they're riding the sa boat now and he already knew so of her plans, Lin Xiaofei won't allow him to get off of it and sail on his own.
"What are you thinking?" Asked Qu Xing Xu who was now facing her.
Lin Xiaofei snapped out of her thoughts when she heard his deep voice. She now realized that Qu Xing Xu leaned forward.
With his palm against the smooth surface of the table that supported the half of his weight, Qu Xing Xu looked like a rogue bullying a young lady.
Their position was also quite misleading as they were close enough that you would think that he would kiss her any mont now with the way he positioned himself.
Just as Lin Xiaofei was about to answer, the voices of her maids sounded outside. They had just co back after washing their hands and rinse their mouths with lemon water.
"We're back young miss." Su Tang said and was about to open the door but stopped when she heard her miss speak inside the room.
"Su Tang. Bai Lu." She called their nas. "I'm changing clothes. You can clean the table later after I'm done." Said Lin Xiaofei who gulped down nervously.
She didn't know why but when she heard her maids outside, she felt her heart falling to her stomach, thinking that they would see Qu Xing Xu with her and inside her room
Bai Lu and Su Tang looked at each other. They didn't think that their young lady was acting strange and decided to leave as per their young lady's order.
Lin Xiaofei sighed in relief after hearing them leave. At least they were now obeying her orders without asking questions.
"You're so relieved that they left without seeing us together?" Lin Xiaofei forgot that he was still here until he spoke.
"Of course I should be. I don't want them to see with a man nor do I want them to think of sothing else." Explained Lin Xiaofei while staring at his eyes.
Qu Xing Xu broke their eye contact first and leaned forward as if he was about to kiss her.
Lin Xiaofei's hazel eyes widened at this and wanted to lean back but before she could do that, she felt his lips lightly touch her right ear and heard his voice closely.
"You shouldn't have done that." She heard him speak in a low voice, "They should get used to seeing us together."
Lin Xiaofei wanted to move her head to the side to look at him but then, if she did that, her lips would land on his cheek.
With her back straight and head stiffly facing forward, Lin Xiaofei told him, "I haven't said yes to your proposal." She didn't like how close he was to her.
Slightly pulling backward so their eyes were leveled, Qu Xing Xu's response almost made Lin Xiaofei curse out loud.
"Really?" One side of his lips was pulled up to a smirk, "That's quite shocking coming from the young lady that boldly wanted to ask my hand for marriage."
